Lol, I know how you feel. All of my teams except my pure team are trash. (The event card from this event doesn't even help my pure team, i already have 7 SRs and 2 UR pures)

I really like score matching since the songs are random. More interesting than spamming the same song over and over.

My favorite EOLVN is that small segment of Dysfunctional Systems. Although there are definitely people who will only play games that feel japanese, I really don't think that's a large factor in to making a VN a success. In fact, I think western settings are a LOT more interesting than japanese settings. Aiyoku no Eustia comes to mind here. (Obviously since it's my favorite VN )

With this I've cleared every song on expert, although I still need to work on getting combos.

The protagonist for Daiteikoku is kind of just a huge asshole, and unlike Rance, he isn't funny. The visuals/interface of the game are pretty terrible as well. I couldn't play through it, it was just ugh.

I don't think Fuwanovel's stance on prepatched torrents should change. If it's possible to release the games prepatched without major technical issues, then it should be done so. I have more technical issues downloading raw games than pre-patched games. (Well, been a while since i downloaded a patched game so not sure how much that means)

In late 2012 Fuwanovel had two slogans "Visual Novel Repo" and "Make Visual Novels Popular in the West". I think these slogans illustrate well the division in the community (still) between a focus on fan-sharing culture and support of visual novels' development in the West. I plan on angling the community down the second path. Can you give more details by what you mean by "angling down the second path"? Are we talking about creating english VNs? Supporting localization through raising money/assistance through other methods?

Just curious, would people actually enjoy clannad? Clannad is really long and hyped up to be more than it really is to be honest, so unless you're already a fan/really in to anime and stuff, I don't see clannad being particularly groundbreaking at all.

Might want to have zoom do the recording, you're running in to the issue of being out of sync on the lines again. (zoom takes a bit more time to read the long line, which you think is already over and move on to the next one) The sentence structure can be a little complex sometimes based on what I saw in the first few minutes lol.

The obvious problem in why visual novels can't gain that much traction is the language barrier. I joined this website due to Tay's post about learning Japanese since I figured that would be a pretty cool thing to do. I think if another thing like that happened, in which we had people working together to learn Japanese, that would open up a lot more possibilities for the future. There actually is a basically fuwanovel skype chat related to learning japanese (we started out as a group to all play the same game so we could talk about it, but that didn't end up so well. Worked for a few weeks, but real life commitments and different reading speeds kind of made things weird. Also motivation about the game in question too I guess. There has been quite some success in talking about games we've mutually played/encourages each other to play though) Obviously we talk about the language as well and work together to answer each other's questions, which is the true benefit. We're not so experienced to be able to know everything, but we're pretty damn good at figuring things out. tl;dr: fuwanovel japanese learning stuffs, maybe english learning stuffs too?

Oh, in regards to the new scouting system on Japanese server if it wasn't already mentioned.... It's more or less a campaign to get people to level up. They decreased the amount of exp required to level up to 100, and you get a ticket every 20 levels up to 100. (So 5 if you get to 100) You also get a ticket each time you fill the heart gauge thing. There are two methods to use these tickets, you can use them to draw a "support" character, or you can use them to try to draw a normal character. The normal character draw requires 5 tickets, with a 20% chance for UR, 80% chance for SR. The support character draw has 10% UR, 30% SR, 60% R. Support characters are used to level up skills. The rarity/type must be the same for it to work, and the one that works for "all" types has a lower appearance chance. Not sure if I missed anything.

This topic has been a bit of circle jerk for obvious reasons, but I'm not entirely sure why everyone thinks that this will have no effect. One of the major causes of piracy is lack of a legal method to obtain the material in question. Another major cause is that the price tag is some obnoxious amount. If the Japanese government is going to be providing legal methods to obtain such material, and going to make it actually affordable, then this IS going to affect piracy. I'm not saying that is going to "stop" piracy or anything like that, but I would be very surprised if it won't at least curb the growth, if not outright eliminate some piracy sites.

I FCed the japanese event song on hard, but expert is so hard to FC :/. I think i've only FCed one or two expert songs before.

Mahoyo would probably be worse if it was voiced. It's written in the third person, and the writing is distinct enough to give the characters their own voice (like rance). May just be my opinion, but I find that having to read it rather than listen to it allows me to think more clearly/focus better as well as come up with my own thoughts.
