  1. Hm... I did start playing Tayutama (currently near the end of the common route), but I just hate the crap out of Mashiro. Seriously, I don't get why the jap dudes like her so much. She's abusive, jealous, possessive, and stupid (her child version was so much better...). Because of that and the excessively long complicated lines of the protagonist's father (that drains out every jap beginner's energy), I ended up stalling it. But still, it was a very pleasant game. I was going to start with Mifuyu's path, then Ameri's, then Yumina, and last and least Mashiro's. I always do best girl--->worst girl.

Well, to be honest I'd never read your blogpost here the moment you post it here, until at least few days later or whenever I'm bored. My suggestion here would be keep it up if you feel like it to sharing your though here, and it might help some user who confused of how if h/she should read the VN that you reviewed or not here. Also if some VN will be localized here, than your review here would be helpful to see the opinion about localized VN here. So, even if I'm not one of the people who will find the use for your raw VN review here (I'd chose to just deal with localized VN for now. Sorry), I'd would said keep up your good job here.

@starlessn1ght Well, I'd found it here and let's just said that Clephas really like the Hapymaher OST so much here. Oh, and I looking forward to translated version of Hapymaher release here.

You got it wrong. I was talking about Miranosu. There is also a Hapumaher post on the VN of the month thread and a couple on his blog...

  3. Just to let you know, I still visit Fuwa every day just to check your blog. Despite the fact that our opinions sometimes are very different (such as your dislike for Rewrite, and your love for Grisaia), I can always see where you are coming from. Like, if it wasn't for this blog, I probably would have never started learning Japanese (your small reviews helped me see the big world of untranslated VNs I was missing, especially the Chuu2. My dream is to one day be able to read Tokyo Necro, Silverio Vendetta, and all those cool-looking Chuu2.). Luckily, we share the same dislike for ichaicha/icharabu, so whenever you mention this flaw in a review, I mark that game so I will never touch it. I'm currently playing Miranosu (only in the beginning, tho), since Hapymaher is way too complicated for me yet. I hope it turns out as good as you think it is. I tried to find a review/comment of your on that game, but I couldn't find it, unfortunately; just that you consider it a kamige.

  4. Also,  something I forgot to mention: have you ever read Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou? You might want to check it out. It also deals with apocalypse (in a very different way, tho) and the art is absolutely stunning. Not only it is beautiful, it communicates the essence of the manga in a way is, as Digibro said, hard to describe by words. From glances to smiles and backgrounds, it holds a special place in my heart. The story and characters, although good, would never be able to carry this masterpiece by themselves imo.

  5. Dude, I will say I disagree with you, but Im very very glad to find someone like you. In my opinion, all elements of a work of fiction must be treated equally. Writing can be just as powerful as art or cause the same amount of damage, if bad, imo. I also watched that video but what opened my mind about the subject was this post. Before reading that, I also thought that story and characters> everything else. But then, I started searching and studying more and I finally realize art, soundtrack, animation, voice acting, etc. can all bring emotions and be intelectually stimulating just like story and characters.

It makes me sick seeing people saying stuff like: "I dont care about art" because that is not an opinion, that is a lie. People 'think' they dont care about art because they never studied how it is used and thus do not realize its impact. Those people tend to think good art is just being pretty and therefore it is easier to make than a good story. Now even if I disagree that writing is inferior to art or soundtrack, it makes me really glad to see people like you, at least to balance the amount of overrate writing gets from the community.

You aren't crying for real... Right? Maybe ensemble will realize its mistakes one day... And their customers as well.

I wanted to play this game, in fact. I was just waiting for you to publish a positive comment, but now I definitely won't (heroine routes with no drama are a no). You recommended Canvas, but that game had Kinishima Ao in the middle and I didn't like his work on the last game I played, even if he just worked on a single route. But I'll still keep it on my wishlist, who knows...

If speak about me - country I live have tons of forests and various landscapes. Mountains not so much, but still a lot. So actually if you want to see forest and mountains, I doubt you should go in Japan for that reason, as in Brazil there is bigger amouts of unique forests and mountains in Serra do Imeri are really fascinating.

Serras are not mountains. They are not beautiful and they don't have snow on top. Brazil is hot, and I hate heat. Brazil forests are tropical, and I don't like those types of forests because they're way too dense, like everything is together and there's tons of shitty bugs and stuff. On a taiga forest or a seasonal forests, the trees are separated from each other, it's not hot, and there aren't so much annoying bugs. Also, Brazil forests are not beautiful.

And I definitely wouldn't want to live in a small town on Brazil. Big cities are better when it comes to this country. The small towns and the countryside completely lack infrastructure, plus they're not pretty or something you'd like to look at to ease yourself.

I've visited some cool places in Brazil, but my best trip was when I went to Chile. Like, I saw snow for the first time and it was more beautiful than anything I've ever seen in Brazil. One of my dreams is to leave this country someday; I never liked it since I was a kid and I never understood why I'm supposed to like it just cuz I was born here (like I didn't choose to be born here to begin with?). I also hate the Brazilian people, they like to touch others a lot and I hate to be touched by other people, plus the girls here are all sluts (not that other countries do not have their sluts as well, but Brazil is just way too much).

Are you from Brazil? (sorry, your answer wasn't very explicit). People here do not tend to be very nationalistic like this, especially taking into account the recent issues.

  8. I have mixed thoughts about it. The culture itself doesn't really interest me (maybe someday it will), but I find the language pretty fascinating. Also, I love landscapes and forests and mountains and Japan has lots of those. Like, I would definitely want to live in a small Japanese village...

But this makes me think: if people like anime and manga, how could they dislike Japan? Like, those are just cartoons and comics from Japan. Whatever sets them apart from Western media is related to their culture somehow, so this means liking anime and manga is liking JP culture?

  9. I have no idea what to expect from the VN (besides some high-level japanese that I'm very very far from understanding, given the ridiculously descriptive nature of the prologue) The synopsis doesn't give any information to make things worse, only the dream thing, everything is just so vague about the contents of the VN.

You put it on your chuuni list, but I dunno where does the chuuni aspect fit into this VN. I think it's not the hardcore type of chuuni, probably something like Grisaia, which was pretty disappointing for the chuuni aspects imo.

The only reason Hapymaher interests me is the amount of praise you give to it. That's why I plan to give it a try once I have a few unTLd VNs read.

Also, one question: is there blood-related incest in this game? I have an imouto so that kind of thing puts me off.

That aside, Minori is just like every other company out there; the only difference is they have the budget (unlike other companies, which mostly struggle financially)

Weren't they near bankrupt a couple of years ago? Yeah, Perseus did save them, but their sales aren't that big compared to stuff like Yuzusoft, Clochette, August and even ensemble.
