  1. Sounds like fun; but I'm no writer. I'd be up for helping with the reading/judging process. Good luck to all of those that are going for it!
  2. I'll probably pick it up, but I only know what the page already has on it. I'm interested in knowing what people who have other thoughts are though.
  3. Finally gotten a chance to play Dangan Ronpa 2... that game is so amazing. However, it is such a time sink. I don't know what it is but I'll start playing... then I'll realize it's 5am. I don't like the characters as much as one, but it does have everything that I loved about the first one.
  4. I think it's great for people who are already VN fans, but the new changes will make it harder to bring in new people into the fold. I haven't looked too much into the curated stuff though.
  5. True, but the Japanese titles are created by experienced developers which may inflate costs due to the expertise you're getting. That being said, I am very excited for Megatokyo too!
  6. Not too many details really revealed, but some good information; I like learning how companies start. I think it's great that people working on and publishing VNs are getting more and more attention.
  7. It looked interesting, but I'm not exactly sure what it's going for per say for the final product. It's a tad too gory for my taste, but I wish them luck; we need more Lovecraftian influences in the world. :-P
  8. Thanks so much for the feedback so far guys! We only have a few days left for the Kickstarter, so all of my time is all about finishing strong. Even if you can't back, voting on greenlight or even just spreading the word is insanely helpful, we'll be announcing some stretch goals today which will hopefully get us there! Thanks guys!
  9. We are currently on Kickstarter and Steam Greenlight Introduction For those of you who haven't seen yet, Culina is a series of games which contain elements of both visual novels and strategy games as you create your very own restaurant. The Spirit of Cooking, introduces the characters, the environment, and the overall goal of the second act. It will play much like a traditional visual novel and is free to play and is available to play on PC, Mac, Linux, and OUYA now at culinagame.com. In the game that we're currently working on, Hands in the Kitchen, the game continues right from the ending of the Spirit of Cooking with the player will actually running their very own restaurant, buying ingredients, creating recipes for it, and deciding how much to charge. Will you raise enough money to prove you can sustain the business? Not alone. Thankfully, the relationships that you have with people will help you and give you strength through gameplay advantages. Do you spend your time hanging out with friends or try to be a better cook? How you choose to spend your time is up to you. We're currently running a Kickstarter to add additional art and animation as well as refine the restaurant gameplay by moving our game over from it's current engine to Unity. It's been going well so far, but we're still only 75% up to our goal. Any ideas you guys may have towards getting the game out there, as well as feedback on the game would be greatly appreciated. Assuming the game is Kickstarted, I'll probably be posting updates fairly regularly here; the community has been really great so far. Support us on Kickstarter and Steam Greenlight
  10. If you are just looking in general, you could also check out sites like ebay, you can often find titles there but usually ones that have been out for awhile. Good luck!
  11. I'm a big fan of the project and I've picked it up, but I haven't had the chance to play it yet. I'm hoping after the Culina Kickstarter is over I'll be able to. :-P
  12. The reason I don't use tumblr is exactly for that same reason. I don't have too many art assets in my games (trying to get the most bang for the buck as it where) and sometimes I have to worry that I'll run out of things to share. I agree with you on the facebook thing, but I've seen people be pretty talkative and caring on twitter. I think it just takes a longer time to build up an audience who actually cares. There are people who will just follow to get a follow back; but I'm really happy with how Twitter's treated me so far. As indie developers, it's really important for us to support each other. When it comes to criticism, for people who are working on their first project they may have some issues with that. I think as people come out with more and more games they realize the value of playtesting and getting feedback and being able to use that to create the best game possible.
  13. Thanks so much for that! Yeah, it is really a project made out of love. Persona 3/4 is probably my favourite games, but I found myself rushing through the dungeons in order to get to the story/social links even though the reason I originally bought 3 was because I wanted the JRPGness. However, I did really like how both games worked together to create a cohesive whole and I wanted to see how that worked for other genres as well. I didn't really see any games that were doing what I wanted to play and rather than just complain, I figured I'd do it myself. I just hope that we're able to make our goal. I'm really excited about your project as well, I'm a fan of hybridmink's art too. I'm actually a big fan of VNs on a small screen. The issue is that a lot of people will just port what they did for PC rather than design their UI to be for that platform which can make it really annoying to play. I don't have too much time to play games, so with the short bursts of free time I get I'm usually doing on my Vita or iOS device. That's just me though.
  14. Sunrider is also on Steam at the moment and free, so you can check that out as well. I think others have already talked about it in other forums, but it's worth a try. I think that Shan Gui is a KN, so also keep that in mind if you're thinking about getting it.
  15. Thanks guys! I really appreciate all of the kindness. Thanks so much! I've been working on it for a long time trying to make it the best it can be. Probably too many to count. My first VNs were stuff like Runaway City and Nocturnal Illusion, but afterwards I moved on to more, and more, and more but I stick mostly to official releases of translated titles. Some favorites are: Shuffle, Katawa Shoujo, Christine Love's stuff, and Winter Wolves's games. Now that I know of here I may get to try a lot more stuff that I didn't get a chance to read before, so I'm very excited! Really looking forward to it!
  16. You're in for a treat! Great game, a bit on the hard side, but great!
  17. I think the protag in Christine Love's don't take it personally babe, it just ain't your story is an adult; but he's a teacher in a school with high school students. This was done before she did commercial games so it's free to download and I enjoyed it. If you're interested, you can find it here.
  18. I've played 999 and I loved it, but I played it on iOS (Didn't have a DS/3DS at the time). Now that I've already experienced the story, is it still worth replaying on the DS even though I know what's going to happen (I already played through all of the endings/choices)? I think the only differences are the puzzles in the game, right?
  19. I don't get nearly as much time to play games as I used to, but last night I fired up Cook, Serve, Delicious and They Bleed Pixels, two indie titles which I enjoy for very different reasons.
  20. I'm currently in the progress of doing my own Kickstarter, and while I've gotten news out to a number of outlets I'm still on the lookout for anywhere else I can potentially reach a larger audience, but as was discussed earlier it can sometimes be hard to find places to talk about EVNs because it's a niche inside of a niche. I think when it comes to Lemma, they're very supportive if you're using Ren'Py but if you switch engines less so. This does kind of make sense since most of the people there use it, but ever since I've announced wanting to move the game to Unity it's been much less active than before. However, I think we'll have a much better final product due to it so if we succeed I think it's the better decision. There is some really good suggestions here though! Good luck with your project Satsuki!
  21. Good luck on fixing the bug and getting all of the assets in! I really liked the Rin Character Intro video, and the game is shipping up to be really awesome! I'm looking forward to it!
  22. Hello all! I'm new to fuwanovel, but not to visual novels. Growing up reading choose-your-own-adventure books I instantly loved the ability to change what happened in the books based off of my experiences. Later on in life I discovered VNs, and enjoyed them immensely playing a number of titles. While I do enjoy pure visual novels, I've fallen in love with games that are visual novels with game elements, like Persona 3/4, Danganronpa, and 999. With that in mind, I'm a programmer/game designer who's currently in the process of making a VN/Restaurant Sim. I've been a member at Lemma Soft for at least 4 years now, but I didn't know this website existed until today (and I'm glad I did find it... eventually). Anyways, I'm glad to be here and I hope to get to know you all better!
