Gibberish reacted to Plk_Lesiak in When do you consider a VN to be "finished" in your read-through?
This very much depends on the game. Sometimes VN have routes that are more or less equal and I'm not the kind of completionist that plays romances he don't care about etc. just to 100% it. When I'm done with what interested me in a title, I consider it completed.
On the other hand, in many VNs you can't really say you've experieced them fully until you've got through all the routes, like in Everlasting Summer for example - only at the very end you learn the meaning of the plot and get a proper conclussion. For this reason I think reaching "true end" is closest to my attitude, I want to make sure I've seen the best that the specific title has to offer and hopefully get some closure, but I don't have to necessarily see every path and every CG out there.

Contact the Italian embassy in Japan and ask them if they can forward you information or an email address of a person or organisation that can offer you advice regarding educational and work options in Japan. Try to find expats websites, they should have people you can email to if you're looking for information.
There are a few youtubers online that blog about living in Japan for the perspective of a 'gaijin' and living there on a budget. I used to watch their videos, they're pretty good if you want a fresh look of how it is there.
If you're going to make a huge change like this and want to minimise on the risk, you need to spend some time researching about it and you need some savings to sustain yourself for a few months. Since you're playing to sustain yourself, you'll probably need to have a list of part time job options before your even reach the place. With Japan its hard since most of that information is in Japanese so its hard to inquire.
For example, if you wanted to do the same thing with say, Singapore or Malaysia, it'll be way easier since English is the primary language for singapore and secondary language in Malaysia , websites are mainly in English etc. Billboards, signboard, info counters, all in english.
You should ask yourself if you're sure it has to be that college in Japan and no where else. If it doesn't have to be there, than maybe more viable options would open up [you mentioned liking Asian culture, there's plenty of cheaper countries in Asia to live in and study [i think] than Japan, with regards to lodging, food etc also] . Finding yourself an education or work advisor will go a long way. Even if you have to pay for it a bit.
    Just some suggestions, good luck.
PS: I forgot about education forums and websites, just google information about studying in japan. There's a bunch of sites, example:
    http://www.studyjapan.go.jp/jp/index.html
http://www.studyjapan.go.jp/en/inj/inj03e.html [theres job info websites in japan here]
http://www.g-studyinjapan.jasso.go.jp/en/    [JASSO (Japan Student Services Organization)]
You could try emailing one of those sites, maybe someone can offer you some guidance on options.
    cheers

There are more briliant ones from SG 0, but this is my favorite.
Then ofc, G-senjou no Maou's OST is whole perfect, no need to point out any particular song.
Clannad's soundtrack was also nice, but most of the songs don't mean anything without the story, so i'll just point out this one that's packed with emotions

Hear, hear.  A guy by the name of Paul Otlet invented the internet.  In 1910.  He had all the main ideas, more or less.  (The only thing they hadn't cottoned on to was user-driven content, like Wikipedia, being king; but nobody predicted that would be as successful as it was.)  The only problem was, there was no way to actually implement his grand vision in a way that could get decent market penetration.  It ended up being forgotten for several decades before being rediscovered a few years ago.

    Hello again, my Dear Readers!
Today, I present you another review of an enjoyable freebie and the last post in the long streak of rather random reviews and top lists I was spewing since the start of my blog. From the next week, I have two themed "events" planned. First, in the coming month and the first week of March, I will offer you reviews of five free, quality Otome and Otome-hybrid OELVNs - among those, some of the highest rated western visual novels to date. After that, for at least another month and a half, I will focus exclusively on yuri games - for that occasion, apart from reviews, I'm already preparing my first "developer spotlight" post, which includes an interview with a certain yuri VN author. I hope I'll be able to provide more of that kind of content in the future, but I don't want to rush it either, making sure that I know that author's work and background well-enough before I approach them, so I can make the interview meaningful and the time I ask from them worth it.
For now, I'll hope you'll enjoy this week's review and until next friday!

I can include Day's Eye but... I seriously didn't wanted to start this rant but...
BL games and Trap games are completely different things, for completely different audiences, with different fanbases, let's not mix the two. In VNDB, Traps (sorry for the lack of a better term) are listed as heroines, not heroes, and they're all voiced by females. Even the shotas in these games I put here are voiced by males. In my eyes, Traps are girls. And that's... not what I want when I'm looking for BL games... I like Trap games and all, and I love Trap heroines, but when I'm looking for BL specifically, for men love interests, I always remove the Trap heroine tag in VNDB from my search... Also, people that like Trap games don't usually look for them in BL games lists... Because most of them dislike BL anyway. And then there's the very small percentage of people who enjoy both, but oh well...
I'm really really sorry if this sounds bad and all, but I'm not including Trap games in the list... Because they're NOT BL games just because there's two dicks on screen.

VA-11 HALL-A is seriously good, so +1 to that. One of the better Cyberpunk stories out there
Utawarerumono sequels (Mask of Deception and Mask of Truth) are also really worthwhile. Could be grouped together
I would also recommend SeaBed, but since it just released and pretty much no-one has read it, that can wait

Apparently, fuwanovel(dot)org now redirects to some site that tries to install adware on your PC, and I discovered it accidentally clicking an old link (doesn't work in https). I know, nobody is going to check all the old topics and change the links, but is it, perhaps, possible to do something automatically? I know, some forums don't allow linking the sites of their competitors, for example.

Aye, I've just read that old blog post without proper attention and interpreted a view you were describing there as your own - I've realized that l was wrong later but forgot to correct what I wrote.  I really don't even see much point in this kind conservative guarding of genre borders, site such as VNDB should be focused on utility for its users and not measuring whether the amount of VN "essence" surpasses some abstract threshold, unless in obvious cases, where there's simply no good arguements for including such title.

I'd go for FSN for pretty obvious reasons. The reasons:
It's timeless classics. It's pretty good and really popular. As opposed to the other highly rated VNs, it doesn't require any previous experience and doesn't have any obvious drawbacks. And the main reason: it's probably one of the best examples of what the VN genre/medium can do with what it has.

    Hello Ladies & Gentlemen!
So, yesterday I've published a review of a very disappointing VN - I'm always a bit wary about giving time and publicity to bad games, when you can give the spotlight to good ones that desperately need it, but I think there's some value in dissecting failed projects and talking about why they couldn't deliver, often despite the author's honest attempts. Obviously, bad games that are just lazy aren't that interesting, but bad games that tried hard and failed are often fascinating to me. Also, it seems that my review discouraged at least two people from buying the title in question, so it's already worth it. Either way, I hope you'll have fun reading it!
In other news, as my activities on the blog focuses mostly around Steam, I thought it would be a logical extension to create a Curator Page connected to it. I don't expect anything out of it, but it's something I can expand while writing the blog in a somewhat seamless way, so I have few reasons not to do it. Obviously, if anyone wants to follow my recommendations there (or join the group linked to it), I will be very thankful.
    Have a great week everyone!

Seeing that we have many threads in regard of recommendation, and the sources was a thread that asking if we should have a new 50 VNs list that was created by mod Kaguya, I thought that perhaps I should make the one as well. As for the list, I decided to joined both of the old and new lists because after all even some of the old stuff should still have some relevance even now.
Anyway, for the personal list list I decided to just limit it into no nukige and no yaoi for now here but feel free to suggest those later, and I'll consider to add those in the list and change one of initial title to honorable mention. So obviously for the initial lists I'll just list 50 translated VNs for now - also I'll just limit it up to 2017 releases for now. Oh and before forgot, the number here was not referring to my preference here. Also when you in doubt in regard of play that or not and didn't want to browse VNDB, I'll add the scores for both of Bayesian and average from VNDB. Edit - Now that I think of it, I should add that it's only English release here  for the title in the first place. So no Japanese only release here, and that's final.

    hello all,

My name is Sarah Devlin. I am a freelance translator who is also in the process of procuring her Masters in translation. For my dissertation, I am looking at the applicability of theory for translators of all areas and origins and as such have designed a short survey. I have heard that Fuwanovel has great voluntary/activist translators (i.e. translating pro-bono for a cause they believe in) and as such I would really love to hear some of your opinions.  The survey has 5 questions and takes on average less than 60 seconds to complete. If you could participate, I would be very grateful.

Tomorrow will be July 20th, the exact date that Mamiya Takuji from Suba Hibi predicted the world would end in 2012. Tomorrow marks the 5th year anniversary. This actually came to mind today, because my girlfriend today asked me that trick question of "do you know what tomorrow is". And I said the 1 month anniversary of when we started dating. And then she was surprised that I as a guy actually remembered. Little does she know that I only remembered because I associated our anniversary with this date, lol.
So now I am curious if anyone else ever remembered an important date or time because it shared the same time as an important event in a VN, anime, movie or some other kind of story?

I would just like to thank everyone who has in the past, and who currently works with Fuwareviews. For something that is purely done out of the love of this hobby, it looks like a lot of hard work. The kind of hard work that some people even get paid to do, and yet you guys all do it for free. I really do respect and admire that.
I've always felt bad myself for never applying for a position as a reviewer. But I know myself well enough to know that it is work I can not do. I have very particular taste and standards for stories, and if those standards are not met I simply just drop what I am reading. If I love a story, I can write tons about it and analyze its minute details. But if I hold no passion for a story, finishing it, no less writing about it is something I can't see myself being able to do. And as a reviewer, you have to read and write about whatever is given to you, whether you like it or not. This is work I can not do, and so I really do respect the people who can.

We tossed this idea around for a while, but the problem is that the content and format of these user-submitted reviews was so inconsistent that editing them to at least match the straightforward format we use would have been a nightmare that I would never wish upon anybody. When I asked for reviews/reviewers a couple years ago, I got a bunch of 1-2 sentence "reviews." There were one or two reviews at most that nearly met our requirements, but we ended up scrapping those as well because they still required more information to fulfill our requirements and Tay and I agreed that trying to get those up and running was more work than what we wanted to do.
This is also huge for us. We want to create conversation using our reviews, and knowing that people actually take the time to read our reviews is an incredible feeling.
