This has been a topic that had started quite some time ago, when people were questioning if it was OK for a translator to take out h scenes. Then people started asking: What is the role of a translator anyways? How much can he edit in the work he's translating? How much editing is too much? Should he stick as close to the original as possible, pleasing himself and the author, or should he focus more on pleasing the people, the new audience, so as to make it as acceptable as possible, so it may spread more? Can a translation be equal to the original? All these were questions that suddenly came, and judging there importance and depth, I thought this deserved a special topic. Ren has already hosted an episode of the Fuwacast about it, that I, along with Akissblade and Major, have joined. You might wanna check it out first. I just finished nanolife, and man what a game! Reminded me of SAO, except 1000 times deeper. I never knew you could make such an impactful story in 1 hour of gameplay... I highly recommend it for anyone with an android device

I would like to present a new topic for discussion, piracy vs localization. If anyone hasn't noticed yet, this topic got a lot of attention on a thread were a user asked for the removal of both planetarian and grisaia; both which will be getting official translations. Some people were furiously defending the fan translations, while the other side tried to point out that doing so would do much more harm to the industry than good. The major problem with this topic would be that many people are quite passionate about it, and things might easily get out of control. But its still a very important topic, so important infact that I believe the other episodes should be adjourned till this one is done (also they seem to be missing some volunteers). But that’s just a suggestion.

Wow, Steve. I never knew you could be so poetic... when your not talking about lolis. From the very first day i registered, I allways felt the fuwa communaty was bigger than just "west, west and west". I have even met some people from neighboring countries, people i never thought i would ever meet here. And when i think deeply about it, I realise that if it weren't for the so called "piracy" not only would I have never met them, theres a big chance that I myself wouldn't be here. I guess what I'm trying to say is that if what Steve said about this site bieng for the hole world is right, than removing the torrents is simply out of the question. It's way too difficult for people outside America to get VN's, and for me it would be impossible, as the mailing system in my countrie is hourendous... My best chance would be to take a flight to Japan and buy all the VN's I whant So, from now on, when thinking about VN's and there future, try thinking about the hole world, not just America

I personally prefer it the majors way, were there's a space for questions. It's very easy to forget what the questions being asked are, so I believe such a nice touch would be very helpful. Lovely design, major.

Form some reason VNDB is blocked in my country (ridiculess, i know). While i can figure out a way to unblock it, and i probably will eventually, but for the mean time I don't think its worth the hassle. Hmmm... strangely enough I see people havn't realy changed their opinions on this matter. I suppose thast mainly because VN's seem to use harems more as a comedic or imaginery setting. After all, it would be strange if it werent like this, seeing that the Japanese have no more exp with real multiple wives than westerners. Olthough, I would like to point out that its not allways so tuff and hard to support a harem. My own grandfather, believe it or not, had two wives. And while i haven't really met my grandmother in person, may she rest in peace, but from hearing from my family she was the happiest grandmother around. But of course, this was a long time ago, when it wasnt so hard to support large familys. Even in the middle east, having more than one wife has become a delight on for the insanely rich. I have also met a classmate once that has more the one mother. I can tell you from my expirience that such familys tend to be in chaos; but not all the time, and there are some benifits to it too. This classmate? He was the most stuck up kid in the hole school, but no one could lay a finger on him, because he had like 9 brothers attending the same school. More mothers=lots of kids. Mess with them and its GAME OVER.

It wasnt my first, but it was the first i completed 100%. Its just with sharin, i didnt expect it to be this long... And anyways, rewrites different. It has a way of sucking you in, is addicting as hell, and you have to read the hole thing to understand the hole picture. While i'm not saying sharin is bad, but i can read, like 3 other vns at the same time. At the moment i'm reading:1-sharin no kuni,2-fate/stay night,3-little busters,4-planetarian. And while i know its not such a good idea to read more than one VN at the same time, it's more fate that forced me to such a despirate state... But anywhay, im getting off topic. Have you ever read any harem endings, Ashadow?

And id probably give those VN's a try, but it seems I'll have to learn japanese to get any real harem endings...what a bother...

Correct. Most islamic countries allow having up to 4 wives, though i have no idea how that nigirean manedged to get 6. Sounds more like a fake story to me. Plus its called "im not muslim". Also i must point out that wile muslims are aloud more than one wife, they hardly ever go that far. Only insanely rich people usually have the ability so sustain such a huge family.
