Would I read it: Im not against it. I can enjoy VN with and without H scenes. Though admittedly I wait until 18+ releases of every game because less censorship. Would it sell: Debatable. On one hand, it would be easier to introduce the VN format to younger people since you didn't need to have the 18+ disclaimer. On the other, sex sells, and I'd say many still read nukige to 'unwind'

In terms of portrayal of HS romance, it is quite accurate in terms of the awkwardness, tiptoe-ing around, and petty fights. (Also that premature stuff) But asking a VN to real life romance beyond that is a tall task, since real life romance tends to end bad, or not end at all. So we'd be getting more bad ends or play until the couple dies and turns to ashes. Also, I feel a real life romance VN will still feell too manufactured, as we'll mostly likely skip the boring part and tend to focus more on the dramatics.

WOW I never thought I'd have someone with an almost similar story with mine. (except the BL things) I was a huge manga/anime fan and I was a friend suggested the FSN manga to me... So I checked it out... And I got hooked! I have always been a fan of intersting settings, and the Holy Grail war concept was a very promising premise... plus Archer is as cool as you can possibly be. So one of my classmates back then saw me reading the manga in class (I wasn't a particularly good student) and casually noted that FSN is actually based on a game. So I searched for it and found the VN format of story telling. Interested in the format, I looked up other VN titles, then I saw Clannad. Then I knew that I had to read it. I looked for sites that I can download VNs and found Fuwa. With a copy of FSN and Clannad, I started reading. I had to drop FSN because I was having a hard time reading it because a wall of text in front of the cg background is really different from anime presentation with subtitle. Also I held off on starting Clannad, hearing that it is a grueling VN that is extremely long to read. Not wanting to give up on the promising mediium, I picked up an unadapted VN, G Senjou no Maou. And there's that. Five years later, while I haven't read as much VN as I would've liked, I'm still very engrossed in it.

Hahaha I felt the same when I finished this. Luckily for you, the Eden 18+ is out and you can read it now and not wait for months while in agony.

I second this. This is my first one and it got me hooked on VNs even though there are no lolis here. There should be a fan TL of the 18+ version. Don't expect too much though. Expectations ruins your experience.

My high school is pretty normal (maybe). I went to a public high school in a small rural town. I was kind of a nerd that liked to study then (now I hated it) so I was the one that was always trying to fit in. Still we were only few in the class, so we formed a strong bond over the years, especially we guys. We would all walk together after school, go to some place where they sell cheap street food and hang out there until dark and then get scolded when we come home. We make excuses like projects to go on sleepovers but we just drink really. It was fun because we never really cared about anything else back then. We just cared about the 'now' and never about 'tomorrow'. About girls, yeah there were one. Thinking back just reminds me how stupid, petty and naive I was back then. I saw her sometime ago on a bus going to the city. We sat together and talked like we would in the old days, not like we have years of no communication whatsoever. It was a happy time. But we parted ways. We know nothing is ever gonna happen between us. We were just fine with knowing the other one is alive and well. So yeah high school was a good time. Full of moments that were then trivial, but now I consider very special.

School Days. To test your limit on how much crap you can take before you drop a VN. LOL DC3 gets my vote here if you have time to read the whole series. If not, a toss up between Dracu Riot and Deardrops. Both aren't too heavy. Out of the box suggestion: G Senjou no Maou.

I'd agree that Rewrite isn't Key's best work. Rewrite is kinda just fantasy-slice of life, while other Key works are slice of life that cuts through your heart and shreds it to million pieces. Though Rewrite is still a fun one to read. So go try all routes on FSN. You might not like the Fate route specifically because the anime was not that good, and it focused more on establishing the setting of the Holy Grail war than the intricate storylines. It isn't that bad really, just not as good as UBW and HF. If you want to look for a darker and more serious VNs, there should be some choices other than those two.
