  1. Just wondering what everyone is watching this anime season? I think this is a great season with tons of shows I love to watch on Friday evenings. At the moment, I'm following GJ Bu, Vividred Operation, Sasamisan, Kotourasan, Oreshura, Chihayafuru, Love Live, Little Busters and Initial D. In particular, I enjoy GJ BU and Sasamisan. Vividred I'm watching because, admittedly, the production quality is really high . My favorite character so far is Kagami from Sasamisan--funya~
  2. Just curious to know if anyone here has had a go and creating their own visual novel. If so, I'd love to hear about that experience . Back in uni, I've created a few visual novels that I handed in as assignments. They were terrible in quality, though, so I won't waste anyone's time with them . I'm actually working on a new title at the moment. It's a kinetic novel with gameplay elements. I'm wondering if it's okay for me to share it here when it's ready ? Thanks .
  3. I agree with the previous posts that Ever17 and Narcissu would be great to see animated! My wallet would take some serious damage because I'd get all the limited edition DVDs . The recent 999 on the DS and Zero Escape would be great, too. I also love Kawana Misaki from ONE ~Kagayaku Kisetsu e~. A few average to poor OVAs have been released, but I would love to see her route given another chance. I would really want to let the newer generation experience her tale and see how she compares to the other Key characters' paths. To this day, I still think hers is the best by far B).
  4. Hi Jeff! Welcome to the forums. I'm kind of more into anime, too, but you're always welcome here .
  5. Yeah, I'd definitely be interested in seeing people's figure collections. In fact, room tours would be fun, too . I only have a few figures. They're very expensive, for one. Also, my room is quite small so I'm already running out of space with all these books and games around XD.
  6. I guess with audio chat, if there are many viewers we might end up talking over each other XD. The advantage of text is that you can just go ahead and type it without the fear of interrupting another person. Yeah? If twitch.tv has a channel, and we do end up sorting something up, I could try and get something done . As for ensuring others can keep up with where the game is up to, is it possible to save a stream session and upload it? So the game will almost be presented in episodes.
  7. A late welcome, but I must say your username caught my attention! Nice Ever17 reference there B). Hope you enjoy your time here.
  8. Daeyamati, that's a good point. Shorter games might be preferable in this case. I was thinking of maybe doing some different forms of streams as well. For example, I collect quite a bit of Narcissu goods, so maybe I could do a stream where I show them off while we all just talk about the game and VN in general. That kind of thing. This way, there's no need to be concerned about missing a stream and thus parts of a game. Of course, any one of us could do something like this B)!
  9. Let me third that recommendation! I love Narcissu to death, man ! Aside from that, I'd pick Utawarerumono and Ever17 out of that list. Narcissu! *gets dragged away B)*
  10. Yeah, weekend is pretty much the only time I can do~
  11. I'm going to post on this thread again because I think it's interesting and worthwhile to pursue B). As Steve said, The Walking Dead has almost VN like elements. Speaking of which, how about games like 999 on the DS? That's definitely very VN heavy. The puzzle parts make it passable as being called "a game". Maybe that's why it got translated in the first place. At any rate, apparently it sold well, because the sequel, Zero Escape, has been translated as well. I'm playing this game right now, and there is even more talking than in 999. Maybe that's the trick? Develop VNs with gaming elements, even if they're gimmicky, to gently introduce newcomers to the genre. I'm actually currently taking on an indie project that's exactly like this. I've been posting my progress on my blog if anyone's interested.
  12. Yeah, I would actually feel more inclined to read some of these VNs if there's company. VN reading is a solo endeavor, but at the same time, you know how it is . Looking forward to getting more of this stuff organized. And yeah, I'd be happy with Little Busters because I've never played through that one before. If anyone is up for sitting through some older games, let me know and I can get something set up (nobody cares X'D).
  13. XDDDDD~ Well, here's the thing. I'm guessing the VN gets serious and awesome later on. My first few hours, though--okay, let's make a baseball team. Let's get people to join. Some random minigames I don't care about ensues. Then a bunch of jokes I didn't laugh at. Man, I sound really harsh but that's what happened ~
  14. @Steve: Yeah, that's cool XD. @meru: I think the person streaming can chat via mic. The viewers enter text but they might be able to talk via mic as well, not too sure~
  15. Guess I might as well revive this old topic XD. I just found out about TwitCast. It lets you stream stuff after authenticating via Twitter. Would anyone be interested in this? I'd be up for streaming something once I have things all set up B).
  16. I can say that if Little Busters' VN is just like the anime, then I don't get why it's so highly regarded. So far, I'm not enjoying the anime too much at all, unfortunately. I played Utawarermono's game before watching the anime. Both were enjoyable for me, actually. I can have very little patience sometimes and lose interest whenever something drags on. The anime version cut out a lot of stuff, which I actually appreciated. On the other hand, there were some emotional parts in the game that was nowhere nearly as effective in the anime. I'm a fan of believing in the original. Yet, dare I say that I'm often more willing to watch an anime than play the VN it was based on. It's for the same reason I've discussed earlier. The anime often gets more straight to the point. I like that. If i enjoy the anime, then I'll check out the VN for the full experience.
  17. My favorite has to be Narcissu. It's just a masterpiece! As for how important music is in VNs, I remember way back in school music class, we did an exercise. Imagine watching your favorite movie with the volume off. See if you're still engaged in the same way. You could do the same with VNs. Mute the music and see how you find it . Instead of using music to enhance the mood, I've been thinking of using it for different purposes. For example, maybe play a soundtrack that conveys a different or even opposite mood to the current plot. I've played a game recently that made me think about this. To avoid spoilers, I'll just keep it abstract. During the final puzzle, instead of having some dramatic soundtrack playing in the background, there was a sad melody playing. I found that to be pretty powerful.
  18. I've never played much of the game so it's hard for me to say. The anime, though, I'm not enjoying too much so far. In fact, it makes me question why so many people regard Little Busters' game to be one of the best.
  19. That was an interesting read. Love the opinions everyone has shared so far. Steve, indeed, VNs are far too expensive at the moment. It's similar to DVDs in Japan. A single disc is like 80 bucks, man ! And yes, there's definitely that fear of being into moe in the West. People go nuts expressing their fandom in conventions. That might partly be because they have to bottom it inside in their everyday lives. Steam recently released a VN called Analogue. I've never played it, so I'm not sure whether it's actually good or not. I do know though that people on YouTube have been ripping that game to shreds. One of the reviewers said it's just a bunch of text. If he wanted to read text, he would read a book. Now, if the story was horrible, then that's fine. But to just criticize the game for having a lot of reading, well, that's the very nature of VNs. That right there concerns me.
  20. Echo, hello~ Hello~ Hello~ (that's an echo effect B)) Hope to see you around the forum .
  21. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to everyone here B)!
  22. Welcome, and nice Air avatar! Good to see there are people who remember the older stuff . Yeah, Ever17 is a great game! Look forward to the ending . Hope to see you around B).
