No sexual content aside, the version they're releasing in the west has high resolution 4:3 assets cropped to 16:9. That's a far greater crime than the lack of pee-pees and vagos.

Individual kanji study is generally a complete waste of time unless you're leaning towards production. What you should be doing is simply learning readings through vocabulary. Download Core 2k/6k/10k and do however many new cards a day you have the capacity for. At 40 new cards a day, you'll be done with 6k in 5 months or so, which is around 1700 kanji with multiple readings. Additionally, using the ITHVNR + Firefox and Rikaisama text-hooking method, you can import unknown kanji and vocab into Anki with a single key press. It's also a method which does not spoonfeed you with furigana, parsing and (optional) machine translations.

Then why are you even asking about machine translators?  Text hook with tools like Interactive Text Hooker, display furigana with tools like Translation Aggregator, and parse the words for lookup using JParser.  It'll be much faster than what you were doing and you'll get much higher comprehension than with a machine translator.

To clarify based on brief personal experience (like once, the first time I tested the waters with TA and AGTH) actual machine translation in the sense of leaving all interpretation (beyond single words) to ATLUS, Google Translate, etc. just doesn't work.  English doesn't translate well into Japanese and the reverse is doubly true.  Japanese is a heavily nuanced language, and those machine translators are horrible at picking up nuance at all.
If you do have basic Japanese grammatical knowledge, it is quite possible to puzzle out an untranslated VN just using TA's Jparser with edict installed...  just set the furigana to romaji or hiragana (depending on which is easier for you) and use your mouse to highlight words you don't understand right off the bat (in most cases, it will bring up a bunch of candidates for the meaning).
Edit: That's also why translations in general get bashed no matter what... there are very few translations that can really be considered 'good', because Japanese just doesn't translate into English very well without losing most of the nuances...

I think Muv Luv is a shining example. Extra is the absolute shits, while Unlimited just barely gets the ball rolling in the new setting. It's mind-blowing how much better Alternative is than its predecessor.

I've never felt shame or the need to hide that I read VNs.
In fact, I tend to play them on the big screen in my living room when I have visitors.

Sex scenes only make for hilarity when several grown men read the lines aloud.
We usually end up in tears laughing.

I don't think one questionable choice is reason to accuse the entire staff of being incompetent (with the accompanying blow to morale that would bring).  I think it's better to judge their work as a whole (as seen in the first gameplay video), rather than obsess on one particular aspect.  To say as a potential backer, "I have no confidence in your translation after this desu fiasco, even if you fix it, because it shows your staff is incompetent.  Not funding this!" would be quite the melodramatic turn.

I've always enjoyed anthology shows, but Tales from the Darkside is my least favorite. Nothing really stood out in any way, and I can only recall a handful of episodes. The 90's Outer Limits, Tales from the Crypt, Masters of Horror and the original Twillight Zone are my favorites.
It's a shame that the uncensored Outer Limits beyond season 1 is impossible to find. The DVD releases were butchered, and Hulu has those versions. Still enjoyable, though.

No, not being able to complain about not seeing Gonzou's plate isn't even close to comparable to the plight of the Jews in Nazi Germany. And you don't have the freedom of speech on message boards, not even on Fuwanovel. That's how it works, deal with it.

    Will play later tonight.
30 FPS is a pain, already bugs me about the PS3 games, but oh well - I bought the PC version to support more Tales of games coming to the PC, after all. Hoping people manage to mod it to run 60 FPS in some way, then I'll be more than happy.
Complaints about the story being lackluster are kind of silly considering it's a Tales of game, they always are to some extend. Out-of-the-blue twists indicating another 10-20 hour stretch in the game, overall lackluster story, but incredible character interaction are what I've come to expect from the franchise. It's a Tales of game for fans of the franchise.

Complain? Please. Fact is, it's an unpleasant community. The mods are abusive and ban with prejudice. I've had a 2 year old account permabanned without warning by a 15 year old mod for having a civilized argument with someone regarding hypocrisy. The ban message stated "signed up just to troll."
Their toxic attitude towards piracy makes the forum less than helpful, as a single mention of even an illegitimate BIOS (which absolutely everyone other than the PCSX2 developers use, by the way) results in the deletion of your thread and no further support. I'm not saying it should be allowed to promote piracy on their forums, but the amount of hostility they display at the mere mention of it is sickening and hypocritical.

The Souls games are definitely heavily inspired by Berserk. There are countless references throughout the games. Dark Souls 2 even has Guts' mounted crossbow and a sword nearly identical to the Dragonslayer. The wheel enemies in the Catacombs in DS1 and Artorias himself are the most obvious homages. I'd agree that Beatrice being a Schierke reference is most likely the case.

Dark Souls 3 is looking good from what I've seen. The return of Demon's Souls' magic system is very welcome.

not so sure about that I think she is schierke from berserk there is even a child version of breatrice, I mean even Hidetaka Miyazaki said that he took a lot of inspiration from berserk and he is even going to add some combat stances that guts do in berserk in dark souls 3

I bought it from a local weeb store, who imported a bunch of Nitroplus products at my request. Even got my hands on the Kikokugai OST and Nitrous Oxide Vol.1 and 3. This should be the correct link.

The cover art is confusing, being based on the non-canon joke route. You could also just get it off of Nitroplus' website.

That's true, but I don't think it's anything to be concerned about as far as content goes. Most of the actual content in Bethesda games consists of lengthy, multifloor dungeons and areas that you don't really ever have any reason to go to other than for pure exploration. In the grand scope of things, there are actually very few quests and pertinent dialog in more or less all of their games.

This would be problematic if FO4 was a game along the lines of Fallout 1 and 2, where variables and massive amounts of text was one of the most appealing features. Would've loved to see the return of the low intelligence script. Absolutely one of the most hilarious features in any game, even to this day.
