  1. 1. Likely around 6 to 8 hours. The first time going through one of the routes will take longer as they share a looooooooooot of events and dialog. 2. No. Some will say you should play them for the foreshadowing, but I say, fuck that shit. You will die on the inside. Slowly. Move on ASAP. 3. You can swap between Extra and Unlimited whenever you want, though why anyone would want to is beyond me. 4. Yes, lots of crazy plot twists, particularly in Alternative. 5. I personally went through every route in both Unlimited and Extra. Unlimited may as well have been a kinetic novel as the choices you make all lead to the same outcome, say for the different h-scenes. The endings are identical, and the last CG is literally a palette swap based on the girl you chose. Don't bother.
  2. Oh, dude. Berserk, totally. Vagina to mouth spear impalement, troll rape, group rape, necrophilia, masturbation and more rape. Also some consensual sex. Very sexy.
  3. I'd say that is one of my favorite routes, solely due to how awesome Katou Kotarou is. Other than that, the route is fairly silly. Soushichi forgiving Kaoru so easily for her betrayal, which essentially scarred him for life and haunts him through each route. It also has another one of the dumbest h-scenes that I've ever seen in anything, ever. For the sake of context, Soushichi is this honorable guy who has morals coming out the ass and as far as logical writing goes, he would never do the things that happen in this scene. Koutaru basically wipes the floor with every soldier in the building single-handedly and heads to pwn Meanwhile, Soushichi has an orgy with Kaoru and Reina, Kotarou's love interest and future wife. IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FINAL FUCKING BATTLE OF THE ROUTE! Almost ran out of lolwut's watching those events transpire. Oh, yeah. That's another opinion that might be considered unpopular. Ayakashibito would be a better game if it was all-ages. WTB PS2 version.
  4. The pizza guy is more than enough context for me.
  5. Unfortunately for me. The only VN that I've really enjoyed which had most of those traits is Ayakashibito, which I consider to be one of my favorites. I did initially drop it due to one of the dumbest h-scenes of all time being rammed down your throat not an hour into the game. I'm looking at you, potty training scene. "Oh, sorry, I'm an omnipotent being, but would you be so kind as to show me how to urinate in human form?" "OH, WHOOPS, SORRY, DIDN'T MEAN TO RUB YOUR CLIT FOR 5 MINUTES" Hurr durr.
  6. Of course. I even localized a title single-handedly. My tastes are very specific. The vast majority of VNs with the aforementioned traits are almost unplayable to me. I'm pretty sure Muv-Luv Extra shaved off years of my life.
  7. Muv-Luv Alternative's ending is a disaster. The moment Takeru the credits should've rolled. It sets up another round of which is living hell for the viewer. Not to mention the whole thing is simply a way to hype and promote the fan disc. Steins;Gate is highly overrated. And again, has another ending which is absolutely awful. Well, fuck me. That's really, really dumb and clearly only something written in to Slice of life, pure romance and VNs with no other purpose than for the MC to get laid are completely worthless and a waste of time to any and all. People who jerk off of VNs should save themselves the time and just go watch porn. School settings make me want to punch a baby. This gag sums up my exact feelings on the matter.
  8. Fluff. Can't stand it in any form or medium.
  9. Nothing but empty promises until proven otherwise. JAST are notorious for running into invisible walls and fumbling around for months at a time - especially with physical releases.
  10. Mostly contains dreck, but one can hardly argue with that price.
  11. I prefer short, stand-alone stories without fluff and any focus on fan service or sex appeal. 5 to 10 hours is ideal. Don't care for choices or different routes. I've never been one to care about the different girls you can pursue, or any for that matter. Romance is such a tedious part of real life that I'd never want to see it in any sort of fiction I may read. An interesting, well written story and characters is far more important than anything else, though a nice artstyle goes a long way. And of course, PC is my preferred platform for most things.
  12. I actually did do that for the test patch, but removed it due to feedback. Visual differences between the scenes: The cut text would be highly inconsistent with visual presentation in every scene other than the Ma Jie one, though it would still be questionable.
  13. Compared to the original, nothing has been cut from the story. Dialog and descriptions of things no longer shown in the h-scenes have been removed. The scenes are still highly explicit, they just no longer show mosaic genitalia. In my opinion, you could view these changes as an improvement, as the artwork in the original Kikokugai is awful (at least from an aesthetic point of view. Character designs and overall direction is outstanding), even for an early 00's game. I could port the uncut scenes from the original game in just a few hours of work, but like I've said before, the artwork is awful, and Ruili and the majority of the gynoids have been redesigned, creating incosistencies which may break any immersion.
  14. I've never felt shame or the need to hide that I read VNs. In fact, I tend to play them on the big screen in my living room when I have visitors. Sex scenes only make for hilarity when several grown men read the lines aloud. We usually end up in tears laughing.
  15. Most people don't know it exists, and those who do know of them, but don't educate themselves further on the subject view them as weaboo porn games. Every VN on Steam is labeled as such, even when containing no AO content. In fact, when I introduced VNs to my brother, he didn't see the explicit sex scene in Saya no Uta coming. His reaction was priceless.
  16. Aaaand released. No direct link, as requested. Doesn't seem like JAST will care either way, though. Don't really feel like making a dedicated thread. Delete this post/thread as you see fit.
  17. Sadly. I'll do a public release, then. Not sure if it'd be wanted on Fuwa itself, but it'll be around; likely /jp/ at first. ETA is sunday.
  18. Yup, that's exactly why I took matters into my own hands. I've been hounding them regarding Kikokugai for a long time via twitter and mail, but it seems like it just isn't happening; and if it is, they really need to give some kind of official word other than "oh, sorry, no info. :(" To me, it seems like they're just keeping the license hostage at this point. I'm leaning towards a public release, considering the patch will require the original Japanese game installed, legit or otherwise. If they do actually license the remake at some point, it goes without saying that they're free to utilize my groundwork without notice or credit, given that they deem it worthy. What I want is to share this fantastic VN with as many people as possible in its most enjoyable state. There will be no profit or recognition on my part, as I couldn't care less about such things. May as well post a screenshot I took earlier for /jp/.
  19. So, for personal use, I've recently spent a great deal of time localizing the 2011 remake of Kikokugai: The Cyber Slayer into english using the existing translation by Makoto (accuracy is still spot on, as it has an identical script, say a few lines removed from the h-scenes). It'll be done this weekend, fully re-done and translated UI and all. Seeing as JAST licensed the original game a while ago, would it be ethical to release at patch for the remake to the public? Clearly, the original will become obsolete and screw JAST over badly as no one will want to opt for the version of the product which is inferior if there is a choice. On the other hand, it doesn't look likely that JAST will ever release Kikokugai, as it is inherently broken on its original engine, and they will certainly not shell out the cash for the licensing fees for the remake. They always dodge the question when they're asked anything about the game as well. I'll finish it regardless of whether it's right to release it or not. Mostly, it's something I've done because it's my all-time favorite VN.
  20. It'd be a win-win for everyone. Surely it would save me a few seconds of pressing the skip button.
  21. Cheap enough. Might give it a try. Also, wouldn't call it sudden. Has been in the upcoming releases list on Steam for months now. I'd like to say since July, but I could be wrong.
  22. Forest. Great soundtrack. Pretty sure a lot of it is public domain, though. Awkward sex scenes gallore.
  23. Pretty much. You only get these scenes if you always go for choices involving Sakura in the true route. Some of them are a bit vague, but any guide should get you all scenes in minimal playthroughs if you have OCD regarding galleries.
