  1. Bought Final Fantasy Type-0 HD now that it's out on Steam. Very grindy; got old quick. Back to Dragon Quest IX and Mega Man X6. Oh, yeah, also hyped for Shadowrun: Hong Kong. Dragonfall has the best writing I've seen in a video game since Planescape: Torment. I think you were just born too late. When it's just another 5 hour game to someone, the magic is gone and will never return. When it was released in 1998, it was a groundbreaking achievement in the medium. Today you can blast through the entire series in less than 40 hours back-to-back. The generations to come will never experience the series the way we did.
  2. The gameplay is definitely dated, but if you just want an abridged version of the story, there's the graphic novel available in several formats. Alternatively, play the GameCube remake. Personally, I dislike the remake, as Shadow Moses wasn't designed for the MGS2 gameplay, making the difficulty very trivial. An example being that you can now aim in first person, essentially clearing a room, lethal or non-lethal, just by standing by the entrance and shooting people in the head.
  3. I only buy localized VNs. The only exception has been the 2011 remake of Kikokugai: The Cyber Slayer, which I have a physical copy of.
  4. Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia, MegaMan X, MediEvil and Front Mission 1. Also finishing up Xenogears.
  5. The new difficulty mode and original VA sounds good, but the lack of true widescreen support makes me lean towards just sticking to PS2 emulation, which does have widescreen support as well as downsampling and shaders, just like a PC game. Not to mention I don't have to buy the game again.
  6. 15GB, not counting Steam. I don't keep anything I'm not currently reading installed.
  7. It's not very relevant to VNs. Simply replacing a, say, 800 x 600 image with a higher resolution 4:3 image will still only display 800 x 600 of that image in-engine, cutting it off starting from the bottom. Altering the scripts would be required for the images to display properly. A lot of work. It's a nice tool for other purposes, though. Additionally, if you had the willpower, you could likely port any VN to Ren'Py, using this tool to upscale the 2D assets. I don't think there's a single person on earth who would ever want to do that, though.
  8. That art style makes me cringe every single time without fail. It's technically sound, but it's also robotic and lifeless. Even if these games weren't garbage in other aspects, I doubt I could force myself through one of them. What kind of F2P model are we talking here?
  9. Aren't fans getting sick of these games at this point? I mean, 15 titles in 5 years is an obvious cash-in. The minimal effort put into each title is cringeworthy, though I know they were designed and budgeted for a niche audience. I don't share the waifu mentality, so the appeal of these games is limited. I have played and completed 1 - 3 on PS3. I bought the remake of 1 on Steam, but I dropped it after seeing the factory for the hundreth time. With the recent success of HDN on Steam (around 250k copies sold, substantially higher numbers than on console for these two games), there might be a slight hope for IF/CH to actually produce a game that doesn't re-use assets from all their previous titles.
  10. I don't think they'd release Chrono Belt without officially releasing the source material they're based on. Evolimit and Bullet Butlers are the ones I've been interested in since reading Ayakashibito last year.
  11. Started re-reading Berserk now that it's going to be a monthly thing again. I own all the current Dark Horse volumes, but the translation is still really shoddy - only slightly better than the fan translations that were circulating years before people scanned the official releases.
  12. With the exception of Symphonia and Graces, I don't like 3D Tales games. Tales of Destiny, Eternia and Phantasia are some of favorites. Awesome co-op games. Also, what's with all the hate towards Zestiria? From what I can tell, Namco pulled an MGS2 on one of the supposed main charactes, and people freaked out and claimed the game sucked. This waifu mentality has to die if it's this destructive.
  13. Finished up Castlevania: Circle of the Moon and Aria of Sorrow again. Tried to get through Harmony of Dissonance again, but it's still a steaming pile of shit. Currently playing Dawn of Sorrow and Xenogears. Now I can grind for 9 souls instead of only 1... yay.
  14. This has been delayed many times due to quality assurance. From what I hear, the port is excellent, with the exception of a 30 FPS cap due to physics/game speed being tied to framerate. I'll probably buy it to support Ghostlight. Pretty sure the Agarest 2 censorship outrage really fucked them over. They're one of the few publishers who actually fund and produce original PC ports of niche games, so I think they should be cut some slack.
  15. Well, I live in Europe. I suspect I won't be seeing it until 2017 - 2019. They'll likely region lock it to boot.
  16. I'm going through Eden* to get a break from the kind of VN I usually read. Impressive amount of CGs.
  17. Doesn't matter how sexually experienced the women of a VN are. Even if they've taken miles upon miles of cock meat, the protags' is just the best. Even if he's 12 and the female in question is 45 with 6 children.
  18. My Japanese knowledge is limited to Kana and basic grammar, but I'd say it's pretty good. Lots of repetition in Takeru's internal monologues, though that could just be the original script. Regardless, it's a localization; it should be reworded if awkward. I wonder more about whether or not they'll redo the VA for the English voiced dialog in Alternative. It's hilariously broken; Zero Wing style.
  19. What's the upcoming extinction event this time? Is Harold Camping having a seizure again? I'll definitely hold off some time to read this one. Ouch. Perhaps you shot my post down prematurely. One month isn't too far off, though. I expected it somewhere around August - September.
  20. That's good news. You'd have to make a Kickstarter to get me to read Extra again, though.
  21. That's an excellent way of ruining the experience for yourself.
