  1. Was it really so long ago......? It doesn't feel like it has been, but frequent interaction probably has me recalling more recent imagery. At this point his rather unique tastes have more or less become something of an endearing quality I suppose. I would say that Skype helps to desensitize you, but if there is anything I have learned, it is that Mon is never to be underestimated.....
  2. Not so quickly as it once did unfortunately, and at times you can even say it becomes too slow. There was however, a time when you could be gone for just an hour or so, and you would have to read through pages of new posts simply to catch back up after you got back.
  3. It was 0-5 within a span of only 18 minutes.... I don't expect that Brazil's morale will recover from this.
  4. Hmmm...It perhaps could be nearing time for another Majikoi playthrough of my own. Should Kosuna and all the others who are aiding him with the translation prevail there will be much to look forward to soon. You may not read this, but I'm wishing the best of luck to you on your exams Kosuna.
  5. The fact that the Miyako thread was allowed free reign to stray off of topic entirely without being shut down, and instead being allowed to continue to go off topic indefinitely by appending "Random Talk" to it's title did not sit will with many other Fuwanovel members and non-participants. In fact a while back there were several comments made by other members of Fuwa regarding closing the Miyako thread because they either don't like the fact that in their opinion it violates the forum rules of maintaining a topic, or they misguidedly believe that its continued existence is somehow a detriment to the Fuwanovel community at large. There are also several members who choose to post solely in this thread, and choose not post in other areas of Fuwa at all which has created a sort of schism between this thread, the members who frequent it, and the rest of Fuwanovel in general. To put it nicely this thread isn't very highly regarded by a vast majority of Fuwanovel. You still are don't worry.
  6. I'm not here to compete with you, and no matter how fast you progress through the game it doesn't change the fact that the vast majority of the game is dominated by battle and map exploration rather than dialogue. It's a very player interaction intrinsic game and unlike a VN you can't press the skip button and step away only to have a large portion of the game complete itself for you. Perhaps, it may be debatable, but Kamidori isn't the topic of this thread. Also I never said that consisting of mostly dialogue or "story" was the only deciding factor for determining the boundaries between a VN and an RPG. If you want to quote my "criteria" then at least consider everything else I mentioned as well.
  7. Really? Because I have actually played and beaten Radiant Historia, and most of my time was spent in battle grinding for levels, backtracking to complete quests, optimizing my parties equipment, and exploring the map for hidden scrolls. I don't recall the over 40 hours I put into the game as consisting of a majority of my time reading dialogue.
  8. It has to do with the amount of player interaction you have with the game. If most of the game is spent reading text rather than interacting with the world, or its characters in a way that is visual and controllable by you as the player then those sort of games will be classified as a VN hybrid, but if you spend more time on world and map exploration, character optimization, and fighting mechanics than you do reading dialogue then you are playing an RPG.
  9. A Visual Novel is primarily a literary driven experience based upon narrative and anime visuals, while you can argue that an RPG is story-driven as well the difference is that you have greater input and control in an RPG via elements such as character customization, equipment optimization, and party configuration. While in a Visual Novel you have no direct visual control of the MC and you mostly lack any sort of input involving fighting mechanics entirely. It would almost be more accurate to say that you don't actually play a VN so much as you read a VN. The same however could not be said for an RPG like Radiant Historia. Visual novels are named as such because it lacks a certain amount of player input that would be necessary for it to be classified as a game just as It would be inaccurate to classify something that requires as much continual player input as an RPG does in order for the story to progress a novel. In a matter of genre's games like Radiant Historia contain barely any of the distinguishing characteristics of a Visual Novel short of textbox's and character development. You also won't do too much leveling up while reading a VN.
  10. Good to hear that everything is going well for you guys. I shall eagerly look forward to seeing the finished product.
  11. Isn't that an RTS? Not really much in the way of character stat distribution or personal customization is there? You can invade other people's worlds in Dark Souls to fight them with a character that you personally built, and customized. It is really the only thing that keeps Dark Souls fresh after you have beaten it as many times as I have. Rpg's with loads of freedom and personal choices that actually have an impact are also personal favorites of mine. Things like the Witcher, Dragon Age, Mass Effect, Fallout 1 & 2 etc.
  12. I like games that give me a lot of personal freedom with developing my character. Raiding other people's worlds during invasions, and being incredibly meticulous by min/maxing stats for competitive pvp is extremely satisfying for me.
  13. Attraction to those who are weaker than you doesn't always correlate to being weak yourself. Everyone has an ideal type that they gravitate towards because it appeals to their personal desires best. Doesn't have to be a physical body type it can be personality driven. (Tsundere, Kuudere, etc.) Often times we prefer those with a personality that is completely opposite to our own. I myself understand that I have something of a power complex, and as such I prefer the Dandere type for their natural timidness and devotion, it is something that appeals to my preferences like nothing else. (Yukie FTW) My preference for dominance also affects my taste for other things though as I have dropped many a Manga and VN because I found the protagonist to be too weak or useless for my liking. I guess it is something akin to a Darwinian thought process that the strong remain on top. For me personally this also translates IRL, as I am someone who enjoys exercising often simply because I like the feeling of being stronger.
  14. Seems that everyone is quite misinformed because OP's post is also wrong. https://forums.fuwanovel.net/index.php?/topic/2060-majikoi-miyako-route-translation-aka-random-talk/#entry34008 Simply a case of no one bothered to do the math properly, and were just repeating everyone else.
  15. The Miyako translation is still incomplete, but is estimated to be completed by July 2014. http://forums.fuwano...247#entry103198 http://forums.fuwano...ndpost&p=103261 ^ These posts should have everything you will want to know.
