Still playing Aokana and now I'm stuck playing through Mashiro's route and damn is this route a fucking choir to play through. Every other girl I've ended up really liking so far but for her I just can't do it.

    And it is finally over

Overall, it was a truly great vn that had some pretty compelling stories and fucking amazing production values. I mean, the backgrounds, they were sooo detailed!

The routes in order of my enjoyment Misaki>Asuka>Rika> Dead dead last Mashiro

Aoi is still the best character out of all of them.

This song really encapsulates the whole vn

How ironic, since the extra CD is an after story for Mashiro as she was top 2 in the popularity polls.

Not being used to so much fuss about gender separation it was kinda weird at first but, by now I've heard those kinda spiels so many times in VNs that it's hard to be bothered by it particularly.
Although "I might accidentally rape you if we are in the same room" is such a ridicilously explosive statment yet no one ever being suprised by it will never cease to be funny.

Yeah, that's the thing. It is a very typical 'joke', as Japan really likes the sexually transgressive comedy, like how they tend to make female characters harass and feel up each other. What sort of surprised me from the VN is that it used this trope, but then refused to move on. They characters have a full conversation on this and, ending it with the classic "well, nothing should really happen, MC looks like a decent human being", the MC then wonders if they do not perceive him as a potential rapist due to not "seeing him as a man", and that he might grow a complex out of this. I felt a bit confused, seeing how much the MC seems to want to be regarded as a potential rapist, and how he equates man = sexual aggressor. I've seen MCs be ok, indifferent, angry, etc. about this, but it might be the first time I see one feeling inadequate for it.

Yeah, kinda. It was pretty long though, so "bad end" doesn't quite feel like a sufficient classification. Well, whatever. In any case, it was a big waste of time for me personally, but I guess people who are into those particular fetishes might find it enjoyable.

I'm at chapter 3 now, and things are looking up now that the main story has moved along a bit.

Ddi you end up finishing Nanairo? Or taking a break for Maggot Baits?

Indeed. It seemed more or less detached from the main storyline, which probably isn't so strange considering how you enter the route.

I mean, can you even call it a proper route? Felt like a bad end but really expanded.

    Spoiler

The story barely begins and 'you' die, so the game shows how the other characters are gonna get tortured till they break, and that's it. I wouldn't expect much story from an after-bad end section.

Finished one route in Maggot Baits, and it was pure garbage. It just consisted of scene after scene of a very specific theme, which I'm not into whatsoever. Namely,

    futanari/tentacle porn.

The story was pretty much nonexistent in this route, so I figure its entire purpose is to satisfy people with that particular fetish, meaning it's not all that surprising that it wasn't for me. I just hope the true route is going to be worth it in the end.

    Monkey House route?

Nope, Kotori's. I dunno when exactly the routes branch off, but that scene is probably a part of the common route if both of us got it.
There was another instance where the text seemed to be a combination of several parts of dialogue mixed together.

Other than these things, I haven't noticed anything weird except for a few typos.

Well, I'm not sure because the differences for the routes are minimal, as I commented some days ago upon finishing my playthrough. Basically some lines change here and there, and the very end of the game, too. So perhaps that scene is messed up for everyone.

Well, people like their creepy romance and I can't say I'm always 100% innocent in this regard (although not really with child/parent plots, there's pretty much no possibility for those to not be fundamentally messed up). But the anime adaptations have a pretty easy job of just taking the good parts of the source material and stopping before the weird stuff truly kicks in. If Usagi Drop managed to do that, maybe UchiMusume also can restrain itself well-enough. :>

    Spoiler

Well, I'd say I tend to be 100% fine with it... as long as it's 'porn'. People can get off to whatever they want.

But I personally dislike it when it happens in a narrative work. Like, in these examples, this development completely messes up and ruins their story as a family by recontextualizing the entire work from familial love to 'raising your own waifu'. In Usagi Drop it was especially weird because both father and daughter had very clear 'romantic' interests that the story was pushing (a widow - or was it a divorcee- and her son), then it does some crazy time skip and the daughter is getting ready to marry her own father. The author ruined his own story for a fetish.

It's a nice way of saying that both started as heartwarming stories of a bond between an orphaned/abandoned child and a foster parent and ended as creepy semi-incestous romances? :P

    Spoiler

    Very much so.

Funny enough, people try to defend the second work by claiming that the little child never sees the protagonist as her father figure, despite that being kind of literally the point of the show.

Just went through a pretty confusing scene in Nanairo Reincarnation. The gang was having a conversation at the dinner table, but the text was misplaced and didn't match up with the characters or voiced dialogue.

    An example:

The "present head" is Makoto (the protagonist), so this makes it seem like he's actually talking to himself.

The entire scene went like this, so it was kinda hard to keep track of who was saying what.

Are you doing Azusa's route? The exact same thing happened to me, and found out it only happens on this scene, and if you are doing that route (supposedly?)
