  1. I picked up TyranoBuilder on Steam today as I'm curious to see what I can do with it as opposed to Ren'py. I'm hoping to learn it by making a simple little project. Nothing major, probably just a standard dating sim of maybe 1-2 hours in length. Would anybody like to help out? I could always use a hand with art and music. Maybe if we like the finished product enough we could flesh it out a bit or work on something else afterwards.
  2. Wow, you can draw that well with just 5 months of work?! I might just snatch you up myself! XD (Not seriously, although I really like your drawings)
  3. As a kid I was really into Pokemon, but I didn't really know what anime was at the time. Around 4th or 5th grade I started getting into Naruto as everyone else did, but I still didn't know about anime (I guess I was a dumb kid, lol.) When I got into 6th grade, however, I saw the FullMetal Alchemist manga on the shelf at my local library. I thought it was interesting, so I picked it up and gave it a read. Later I found out it was an anime as well, so I guess that was when I started watching anime. I never did finish the original FMA anime though (Could never find episodes online, and wasn't allowed to stay up too late at the time.) For that matter, I don't think I finished any anime I watched in middle school. I was into the typical "boys" anime that you can find featured in magazines like CoroCoro. I did keep up with those up until I entered high school. Despite not watching a lot of anime, I read a lot of manga. Once I started my freshman year in high school I accidentally discovered The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. I thought it sounded cool, so I gave it a spin. After watching the first few episodes I was instantly in love with the series, but realized that if my conservative but not conservative(?) mother saw me watching a show like that, I would be murdered (This kept me from watching many series at the time). So I watched the show in secret (heh.) I guess this was the first real, not for children, anime that I watched and finished. I watched shows steadily after that, although I think my anime viewing really picked up last summer when I started getting into subs and keeping up with shows as they air. I'm 17 now, and finishing up my senior year. At this point I can pretty much watch whatever I want without my mom saying anything, so long as it isn't porn. Still afraid to watch ecchi in the living room though. Tested this last summer by watching Attack on Titan in the living room. Such violence. I think my mom found the show to be disturbing, but she didn't say anything.
  4. I see you're a fan of Jonan Vasquez? You're art is pretty nice. I'm sure if you scanned it and then colored it in gimp or photoshop then it would be suitable for such a project. So you want to work on a community-driven project, much like Katawa Shoujo? It's definitely possible, but you're going to need more than just yourself and an artist. Additionally, do not say you can code it unless you actually know how to code. I assume you're going to be using an engine like Ren'py. Much easier than coding from scratch, but you would still need someone to test for bugs. I think you're forgetting something important though: music. Who will write your music? I wish you good luck. if I can be of any assistance, feel free to PM me.
  5. Came home today and found my copy of Steins;Gate LE waiting for me on my door step. opened it up, the fanbook and the pins look really nice. Just installed the game, and I'm about to start it right now. My thoughts on the game itself will come at a later time.
  6. Maybe this didn't need it's own thread, but I'm interested in hearing everyone else's experience ordering from JastUSA, or really any company that sells visual novels in the west (Or the east, if you are importing). As I said in another thread, I ordered Steins;Gate Limited Edition two days ago. I received the email giving my download code, but I have yet to receive an email saying my order has shipped. Seeing as it's only 3:11 PM in my time (12:11 PM where my order is shipping from), I can only hope that it will ship within the next hour or so. So, while I'm at work... If it doesn't ship today, I will be mad however, as I was expecting it to arrive by Tuesday or Wednesday. It is a holiday weekend though, and I am being a little impatient. So what are your experiences ordering physical copies? I think I'm really interested in hearing stories from people who import.
  7. No no no no no no no no no. No!!1! I see where this is going! Can I have an ice pick?
  8. Wouldn't it just be better/easier to stream the game on Twitch and just talk during the playthrough in a manner similar to Game Grumps?
  9. Hah, thanks for the welcomes everyone! I'm not quite sure what I would do with an Austria though... Or an Australia... Or an America...
  10. Currently reading Stealth Symphony and One Punch Man. Haven't really picked up either one in a few weeks though...
  11. I personally don't want sex scenes in any visual novels I play. I get that sex sells and it's going to happen, but I view characters in a way that they should be respected. I'm not saying put a ban on the H-content, but I at least wish that every game had an all ages version. Then again, last summer when MoeNovel brought over If My Heart Had Wings they decided to do some censorship. That was kind of cool, but they ended up over-censoring the game to the point where even hugging was cut out... Not cool man, I need the hugs...
  12. Hello, everyone. I'm new here (Obviously, why else would I be posting this?) I'm also pretty new to visual novels. I'm not new to the concept, however I've never played one before (Although I have played plenty of games with visual novel elements). I did just recently order Steins;Gate Limited Edition though, as I thought it looked like a lot of fun. I really like the Key anime's as well, so I may eventually try out the vn's for Clannad and Little Busters!, but that's for another day. So a little about me: I'm a dork. I'm a big dork. I enjoy video games, and blogging; I often blog about Nintendo games and news in my free time. I'm into coding as well, although I don't know too much. I'm pretty okay at HTML and CSS, but I haven't started any actual classes yet. I'm graduating high school in June, and then I am starting my first year of college in the fall. I am planning to major in computer science (Programming option), and after I obtain my bachelors degree I plan to move to San Francisco and get a job in the start up scene. I'm planning to attend Otakon in August, so if any of you are going and would like to meet up during the convention, feel free to let me know. It's my first convention, so I'm really looking forward to it!
  13. Good. I like to pay for the ownership of my games, not the right to just play them. Maybe they're a little greedy, or maybe they just didn't think about it? I think I may send them an email, it's worth a shot at the very least.
  14. Just ordered the LE last night. My only question though, is there a limit to how many times you can install it from the disk? Odd question, I know, but I've had that happen with too many programs to count... Already got my download code for the digital copy, but I'm not sure if I'm even going to use it. My internet is pretty slow so it's better if I just wait for the game to get here. I think the method JastUSA uses for downloads is pretty stupid though. Why don't they just put it on Steam and give me a Steam Key? :/
