  1. I also recommend Comyu. it may not be as good as FS/N in terms of combat and production values, but it has a deep, dark philosophical story and a great cast of characters. its one of my favorites.
  2. It is to me. I felt that the main scenario writer (Romeo Tanaka) hit a perfect balance here between his thematic style, and the forward storytelling style used by Key in their previous works to invoke emotions. The common route is very fun, mixed with a mystery/suspense element that felt to me inspired from his work on I/O with Nakazawa. it's fun and it will keep you guessing and thinking until you reach the real story in the heroines routes. Tanaka wrote 4 routes and they were all fantastic to me. Ryukishi07 (Umineko/Higurashi) also did a great job with Konohana Lucia, her route was the most emotional one, but not thematically as strong as Tanaka's routes imho. Tonokawa's routes Sizuru and Chihaya are the weakest in the game, felt more cliche to me, especially Chihaya and her typical shonen story.
  3. but its a classic mystery story, really. and it uses one of the oldest techniques too, closed doors mysteries. I've started reading Kara no Shoujo, I just wish they used a better font type for the translation. and you are also supposed to solve the mystery and finding out who the true culprit is, there is enough hints for that even from the first episode
  4. - The music: I'll read any visual novel if the music convinced me of that. - Depressing stories: I like them, and I like human drama in general. Sometimes small things do catch my interest for very simple reasons, like the idea of the story, or a design for a character, etc... and I decide to play the game just for that.
  5. IMO 999's characters were better (Sora is literally my favorite character in anything though, and Tsugumi IS pretty great) and I would say that the uniqueness of Sora's route is indeed part of what I love about it so much I respect your opinion, but I felt Ever 17 was more character-driven, while 999 focused on the plot more. oh man... what a great character... she's the most (redacted by Funya in case of feels) character in the game right? : ( I found 999's cast to be more interesting, especially in retrospect. I agree that (at least until the main route) Ever17 is far more character driven. About Sora, I agree. ;-; (might want to spoiler that)

  7. I like Ever 17 so much, I liked it much more than 999. I agree about the pacing issues, but the overall story is unforgettable. the characters were much better in my opinion, especially Sora and Tsugumi. also, I liked how every route tried to deliver a different storytelling experience ( like all works from Nakazawa really ).
  8. I just finished reading Moon you guys know how I'm feeling now right? how can a writer imagine something like this ? and that song... how? I don't think Terra can beat what I read ... just a feeling.
  9. the most thing I loved about this game is the characters routes, I strongly recommend playing them first. at least, if you like human drama. all of them were touching and emotional to me, and I liked all of them a lot.
  10. my thoughts as well. though it was a very good and a smart series. I will miss it.
  11. Umineko ( very subtle writing, great characters and story, the most intelligent vn I've read) . Comyu ( great dark atmosphere and fantastic translation ). G-Senjou no Maou ( the closest to my heart, emotional story with a grand final chapter ). Sharin no Kuni ( poorly paced, but you won't forget those characters ). Rewrite ( fantastic and imaginative story from Romeo Tanaka, with a great route for Lucia from R07 ). Grisaea ( didn't finish it yet, but it has the best comedy, and all characters are likeable ). Muv Luv Alternative ( the most epic vn even if its poorly paced, with some characters you won't soon forget ). Virtue's Last Reward ( one of the best stories I've ever read, I challenge you to guess its secrets! ). Ever 17 ( best sci-fi vn I've ever read. all routes are different and varied, with a memorable and very surprising final route ). Eden ( if you like an excellent romance story with a great setting ).
  12. I like Haru, but I felt that her backstory was a little forced.. and I felt that she didn't receive the same character development as Kanon or Tsubaki.
  13. yeah I agree lol. I always felt that Looseboy's main heroines aren't as great as other heroines I also liked Touka a lot though maaaaybe not as much as Sachi.
  14. I liked Sachi and Touka much more than Natsumi.. ooooh, Sachi was amazing.
