  1. Fair warning about the Nutaku version: they uploaded a weeks-old build instead of the most recent build we supplied them, so it doesn't have the dual language support and is missing a fair amount of the QA. It will hopefully be fixed soon. I'll let you all know when it is.
  2. There's story leading up to Wakana's h-scenes too, but it's not very deep at all. It's probably about 3-ish hours long? Hard for me to judge since I spent considerably more time on it in my editing pass.
  3. You're wrong about this too. I never tried to imply this at all. All I'm saying is that every licensing contract between a japanese developer and an english publisher comes with different stipulations and that it may not always be possible to put 18+ DLC on steam because of these differing contracts. I don't have any insider information as to why any particular game does or doesn't get an 18+ patch on steam.
  4. They have. They haven't for every VN, because it likely depends on their contracts with japanese publishers and whatnot, but Sekai Project has definitely been putting (both free and paid) 18+ DLC on steam.
  5. Yeah, there are a fair number of h-scenes. They're mostly rather porny and separated from the plot. Usually just the knowledge that they had sex is what's most important. In the all-ages version we don't censor anything outside of the h-scenes. We've even kept any instances of nudity outside of the h-scenes. Since there's technically an h-scene right at the beginning of the game that is very important to the story (a masturbation scene), we've kept that intact but zoomed in on the girl's face so nothing naughty is shown. It will be $30 on steam with a 10% launch discount, so $27. Same price as everywhere else.

In case you missed it, we've subbed a series of short and fun 4koma videos to tease the release a little. The rest are on the NekoNyan youtube channel here. And since it wasn't posted in the OP, this will be available on Steam here, with a free 18+ DLC available if you have adult content enabled in your steam account settings. It will also be available on almost every western eroge storefront. Nutaku, Fakku, MangaGamer, JAST, and NekoNyan's own site. Also Wakana rules. Alright, shilling over.
  7. The patch does not add everything from the PS3 version to the PC version like Silvz claims. The patch lacks a lot of the animations the PS3 version added, like lip-syncing, animated text in certain spots, screen shaking, rain, etc. There is a lot of rain in the game (a Lot) and the animated rain does add to the mood imo, but it's fairly inessential. There are other PS3 features as well, but they're all minor enough that I've forgotten them. You can pretty safely play on the MG version with the patch and get like 98% of the experience. Umineko Project will take a while to fully release because they're porting the game from scratch.
  8. What's available on Sol Press' site isn't a patch, it's a demo. It's a stand-alone program that you run without copying over to anything else. And it only covers a small portion of the game because it's a demo.

Clear formatting on your post (the eraser on the left side of the toolbar) or set the text to automatic color so it can show up in themes with a white post background: Anyway, to answer your question, every time I see a game with populated backgrounds, I see people praise the backgrounds as feeling lively and lived-in. You never hear anyone praise a background for being empty, though. So generally, it's pure upside. The thing is, barely any VN devs actually have characters in the background because it's simply a lot more work. While people praise backgrounds for having characters, it's a luxury. I don't think anyone avoids VNs that don't have those kinds of backgrounds. It's probably not worth it for a small-time VN dev to spend all that time populating their backgrounds. Though I guess I should point out that the current best-selling VN dev, Yuzusoft, is a company that does populate their backgrounds. It helps lend an air of polish to your product.
  10. My unbiased opinion is that KoiKuma has fantastic fap material, but Sanoba Witch's isn't half bad either. If you want anything else from the game, then get Sanoba because KoiKuma is literally just a nukige whereas Sanoba is a full-fledged moege. My biased opinion is Sanoba Witch 10,000%. Buy copies for all your friends too.
  11. I assure you that it's entirely good news. It means my work on Sanoba Witch will be over and I'll be able to take my first serious amount of time off from work in a very long time. You have no idea how much I'm looking forward to it. edit: Also, in case you're worried, post-break my schedule is looking somewhat easier in the coming months as well, so I expect to be able to keep up with site stuff after its over too.
  12. Hello. If it was me you were contacting, then sorry for never getting back to you. I know somebody contacted me about VNTS a while ago that I never got around to responding, and I feel bad about it. There are a couple factors here. One, our VNTS system is not the most intuitive in the world and it takes time to teach someone how to do it, as well as all the quirks of what we do and don't report, and how we report it. If we don't have time to do a single update, then we don't really have time to teach someone the ropes, unfortunately. The other factor is that I'm generally uncomfortable handing the baton off to someone I don't know very well, which is admittedly up for debate if that's what's best for the site. Maybe if someone is volunteering, then should we just accept their help without question? Either way, starting a week or two from now, I will have 100x as much free time in the day, and I plan on getting back into the groove with VNTS. I'll also see if I can get some other site content rolling as well. Very sorry for the extended absence, everyone. But hopefully things will be slightly less dead soon.
  13. A compelling argument to not implement this feature, actually. edit: Keeping a public record of who was responsible for the shittiest translations out there to keep people honest and accountable is fine, but let's not get too weird about it.
  14. Localization staff being added has been brought up multiple times with me supporting it each time, but nobody else there seems to want it.
  15. It's meant to be like a manga series or something similar. A series of bite-sized inexpensive releases telling a story over time.
  16. The translation patch already modified it so it can work in windows 8/10, so no further patching should be necessary. My main issue is the microscopic 640x480 resolution. I can't find any decent window zooming/stretching solution that works with this game. Windows' and borderless gaming's scaling options cause the rendering to freeze/glitch out and the windows 10 magnifier is very glitchy and laggy for me. There's always fullscreen mode, which does work, but it doesn't look as good as a straight 2x enlargement would and it makes multitasking more difficult. edit: and now it just crashed when i was alt tabbing while in fullscreen mode, and it caused other weirdness in my second monitor, like not being able to move my cursor to parts of the screen. This game is a real pain in the ass.

  18. If you mean the translations are the same, then you're wrong. The two Clannad translations were done completely separate from each other. It's not so much that they rewrote the fan translation, they never used it in the first place. Assuming that you're asking about Little Busters, I don't think they changed the ending in that for ME/EX. ME/EX adds a few new routes, changes the ending somewhat in the Kud route (perhaps this is what you meant?), but the final ending should be the same, as far as I know. Or if you mean Tomoya After, I think they changed and extended the final parts of the story quite a bit for the ME version. Clannad, though, has no enhanced or 18+ version. There have never been any changes to Clannad's content in any of the its various re-releases.
  19. Please check VNDB whenever you want to know if an english translation of a VN exists. If there's no english version listed, that means it doesn't exist. On this game's page, you can see only Japanese versions are listed: https://vndb.org/v2466
  20. Just because MangaGamer doesn't announce release estimates right away like Nekonyan does, it doesn't mean they don't have an internal schedule. And just because a game takes a while to go from announcement to release, it doesn't mean that it's fallen behind schedule. You're making a lot of assumptions that you can't back up.
  21. To clarify, NekoNyan's version will contain all of the enhancements to the base game the Vita version brings, but it will NOT contain the new routes introduced in New Division, the fandisc. (source: nekonyan discord) Sorta makes sense that the base game and fandisc are being treated as separate products. They probably come with separate licenses with separate fees and all for the licensor.
  22. You guys should read the whole thread. The announcement has been made already. So, the more sales that occur on Steam, the more visible your game is on their storefront. Sol Press is operating under the principle that the best way to maximize sales is to get as many people to buy the game on Steam as possible, thus enhancing its visibility on the storefront and making it more likely that other people will notice the game and buy it. There are a lot of people who are willing to buy games wherever they are, and if you release first outside of Steam, the hardcore fans will buy it outside of steam, and then you end up with fewer steam reviews, fewer community hub contributions and forum posts, and lower sales chart performance (and also will make it less likely that valve is willing to spotlight your game in special events and such, though that's always a crapshoot anyway). So, shepherding people to Steam first and foremost and then exploring other platforms later is a valid business strategy.
  23. Nobody there said it was dropped. The IXTL situation does complicate matters a lot, but I know that enjoievan has been hard at work on the parts of the ML kickstarter to come after MLA, and it's still very possible that IXTL will move on to Kiminozo after that.
  24. Not quite. Majikoi S was half Wairu, half Maji Translations. And one of Majikoi A-1's routes was Wairu.
  25. NISA is responsible for DanganRonpa 3's translation, actually. Spike Chunsoft may have published it, but NISA was the loc company behind it. 428 is their first in-house localization job, and the staff on it are known to be good (respected pros from outside the VN scene). And don't forget XSEED (Corpse Party, soon to be London Detective Mysteria)
