    Hey, all!
This month I feel is a bit light on new content, both on the writing and art front, but I did at least do what I set out to do this month: Finally pen a conclusion to Nozomi's rewritten main route. I think there are a lot of problems with it, and I'd hope to address at least some of them on a second writing pass, but there's one complete path from start to end and I hope you folks enjoy reading it!
Outside of that, I've dropped some teasers for two new storylines. There's one examining a decision Kyou can make to walk back his villainy, but the one I hope to work on over the next month is an alternative path for Hiroko. I haven't written an awful lot for her this year, so I'm keen to focus on the little spitfire for a bit~
On the art front, my artist didn't have the time to get as much done for me as I'd have hoped, but I'm sure what's there will interest some of you. Besides finishing the Delusion route CG from last month, we got started on the ending scene for one of the game's villainous storylines, specifically the robot one. No spoilers for those who haven't read it yet, but for those who want to see it in game, make sure you select #001 as the final choice to guarantee its appearance.
As ever, you can find this month's release in PC, Linux, Mac and Android versions, on my Patreon or itch.io pages.
So that's it for another month! There's five weeks before the next release, so I really hope I can get Hiroko's new story done in time for then~

    What's New

Completed Nozomi's reworked route to a single playable path from start to end Tinkered with some of the game's introductory dialogue Extended some of Nozomi's scenes slightly in her rewritten path, and implemented the option for Kyou to use a finger-to-forehead gesture instead of a hand wave when the opportunity arises Added Hiroko's version of the Delusion route scene CG on day 6 Added the first of three variants of the Robot route main ending CG   Started work on an additional path for Hiroko's route. To see it,  choose "Convince her she's ticklish in a place she's not", during the third day Started work on an outline for a Kyou redemption arc, during the Villainous Devoted path (there's barely anything written, though) Word count is now over 187,000 Usual miscellaneous spelling and grammatical corrections

I’ve made some fantastic progress this week, but I’m especially happy with introducing the new continue button. One of the best things about making a game that doesn't use a lot of hardware is that you can make it run almost instantly. You won't have to remember where has your last save occurred or which save slot you have used - just click and play.
Also, I don’t think there will be a reason to add some semi-skippable animated company logos whenever the game launches, so all it takes from the moment you press the game’s icon to the moment you’re in is like 10-15 seconds. : P

After going on a few emotional roller coasters lately, I decided I should read something lighthearted for a change. Here we go!

All jokes aside, I've been looking forward to this for years and have by some miracle managed to completely evade any spoilers all this time.
I figure now that the final chapter is just a week away, the 07th mod for it should be released by the time I finish chapter 7 if I play through one chapter every weekend starting now.

Ichika and Futaba are so close it even surprises their friends and family at times. Ichika, the diligent, stubborn older twin, and Futaba, the childish, sociable younger twin, are an inseparable pair.
But there's more to their love for each other than first meets the eye.
Growing up, the two did everything together. No matter where they went, the twins were never apart. And even now that they've grown up, their personalities diverging and leading them to different hobbies, they're still as close as can be. For Ichika, the responsible big sister, looking out for childish, spoiled Futaba has become an everyday occurance, both at home and at school.
But one day, worried that the twins are growing too close, their mother chastises them, explaining that there's a difference between being supportive of each other and being codependent. Regardless of how close they are, she says, they can't stay together forever. With that admonition, the twins' relationship begins to change.
Lurking beneath Ichika's wish to see Futaba happy is a different feeling, one that torments her. A desire that cannot be fulfilled. And as their relationship changes, Futaba grows restless, seeing her wish to always be by Ichika's side drifting further and further away.
What awaits these twins, who harbor feelings stronger than mere sisterly love? What form will their relationship take, and what conclusion will their story reach?
Ending Guideline / Suggested Route Order
This game follows a system where each choice either gives points to Ichika, or it gives points to Futaba. There are two good endings and two bad endings. The ending you get is decided by the difference between the number of points each girl has.
The order in which the choices are made is irrelevant. All that matters are the number of points accumulated. Therefore, there are many combinations of choices that will lead you to the desired route. Skip to the bottom of the Walkthrough section to see which choices give which points and decide for yourself, or follow your desired route's guide if you just want to end up on the correct route and don't care about choosing.
This system is represented in-game via a two sided bar chart which you can visualise at any time by right clicking and selecting 'Status' in the menu that appears.
The good/bad ends follow the exact same choices except the last two. Choose the other choice for the ones in bold to change from the good to the bad ending or the other way around.

The most general reason being that I don't like having interaction with my vns.  If I want to interact, I'll play a game and if I want a story spoonfed to me then I'll read a vn.
My reason for this one specifically is because it's gotten compared to DDLC.  DDLC gets a similar schtick of "go into this blind" which turned out to be so you'd at least install it before you realize that it's a bunch of played out metahorror tropes that had stopped being interesting years before DDLCs release.  Needless to say getting compared to DDLC and then being told roughly the same thing I was told before tackling DDLC combine into one big red flag.

I'll actually advise against skipping FF2. Although I like Lute as much as any other person, I actually prefer Ruin (FF2's Protagonist) as the protagonist because he actively participates in the plot, rather than simply stumbling through sheer dumb luck. Some of the ways that he deliberately talks circles around his foes as well as around the heroines are also actually very endearing.
I also prefer the heroines and the political landscape of FF2, but that's personal preference. I do believe that FF Gaiden 2 is the best entry in the series though.

They have known each other since they were young and have done loads of things together. They have many other friends, but this seven people is a close-knit group, they even have a secret base where they meet...

With the new semester, they welcome two girls into their group and shortly after things start to change...
Ending Guideline / Suggested Route Order
There are 5 main routes, 6 sub-routes and 1 hidden route, as well as a couple of other endings.
Initially you'll be forced to choose one of the 5 main routes. As you finish them more and more sub-routes will open up, and after finishing all of the main routes the hidden route will be unlocked.
You may play all of these in any order you wish.
To get into a route, finish the prologue and you'll get into a choice screen. You get into a route by exhausting all red spheres with any given character. Each time you select a character she will lose a sphere.
Choices crucial for certain CG's will be detailed below. Choices recommended will be written below, but only choices which will otherwise lead to a bad end will be in bold. Timed choices are included in the choice number. After Stories and Sub-Routes have no story relevant choices.

    Momoyo Route

    Chris Route

    Wanko Route

I want to eat your pancreas. Before I watched it, I thought it was going to be a very sad tearjerker. I've read a bunch of reviews of this movie on MAL and most of them suggested that it's a badly executed story with shallow characters and it completely fails as a tearjerker. So after watching it, I absolutely didn't get the impression that this movie even wanted to be a tearjerker. 90% of it had a rather happy atmosphere. I think that this movie was very much misunderstood by the audience.
Shinchou Yuusha. After reading the summary, I expected this to be just another random comedy isekai with some fanservice and that it would get boring quickly. An overpowered protagonist who only has 1 personality trait and nothing else to his character. Well, I was proven wrong really quickly. This anime was actually genius and the comedy never got boring. The way it works is rather simple. This overpowered hero is not actually the protagonist (this is made obvious by never hearing any of his internal thoughts). Instead, the protagonist was this goddess who summoned him and her interactions with the hero and her overreactions are totally golden. Her voice actor did a seriously good job. I feel a little bad for this show, because most of the audience probably couldn't realize that and therefore couldn't enjoy the show because of some biased opinions towards random isekai comedies.

Well, the description sounds pretty intriguing, and it's currently available for free, so I don't see why I shouldn't check this out! Also, The Twelve Kingdoms anime made me want to give more attention to older series, so I guess it's a good chance to start.
As for Arifureta, actually, I think I agree with almost everything you wrote in your post, to the point where I have nothing to add. I guess, the only exception is that I more or less liked the action scenes. Also, I'm pretty sure you're also at volume 10, since some things you discuss only happen there.
Yeah, I'm really glad they started to localize these types of stories! I personally don't really like weakling female MCs (which is probably the main reasons why I don't really enjoy actual otome games), but I definitely enjoy the stories where they are hardworking, even if they aren't that successful, actually. Well, otome stories tend to be pretty short in general, so you may want to wait before they are finished. Soap will only have 3 volumes, from what I've heard, and Shini Yasui will finish at 6, though the translation will most likely stop at volume 2 (doesn't really sound like your type of story anyway). I Refuse to Be Your Enemy has a similar length, and I don't know for sure, but I doubt the other stories I mentioned are much longer.
Well, I hope they don't stop localizing these types o novels since there are still a lot of great and untouched ones! By the way, here's a picture from reddit, where the green triangles are the series that I really liked (and wish to see localized if it's possible), yellow rectangles are the series that I didn't really liked that much and dropped pretty early, but I thought about giving them another try at some point, and the red ellipses are the series that I didn't like, though, considering what you wrote, you might enjoy them a lot more than I did.
Overall though, I feel like recently the LN publishers in general started to localize a lot more titles that cater to my tastes. When I just started about 2 years ago, I mostly just read fan-translations, despite many awful translations, simply because it was much easier to find a story I really liked. I'm glad that the situation changed, and now many of the stories I picked up back then are also getting translated! Actually, they also localized The Wild Last Boss Appears Again. I don't think I mentioned it in this thread, since I didn't get very far in the previous translation, but it seemed like a really interesting subversion of the "transferred into a MMO" genre.

Of what you've read I read Arifureta up till 8 or 9 (can't be bothered to check which).
I have a question for you, though. Do you think you'd be at all interested in Crest of the Stars? I know I sure loved its anime.
Arifureta was actually really enjoyable when I was reading it. I have my problems with it, mostly in regard to the fact that I don't really like action scenes, meaning there are large portions of text I can't help but hope they end. There's also several things that happened and I sort of wish did not, but alas. There are just as many that did happen and I did want to happen. There are many things in the novels which are in direct opposition to my viewpoints and preferences. Elaboration below:
So yeah. As my sole companion on the train in many months past (not now with the Covid-19 situation), I actually had many thoughts on this series. I really like it, if nothing else for making me think things of my own volition, I guess. I don't particularly like novels that are made to make me think. I prefer to find lightweight stories that I can think about if I want to.
I'm actually looking forward to the J-Novel Club's otome stories, but I don't want to start anything with just one or two volumes, so I'm holding off. I'm sure there'll be some I really enjoy. Anything otome tends to be pretty good, in my experience. I like all sorts from the hardworking and successful heroines with supportive love interests to the weaklings with mean sadistic love interests (and all smut stories that entails). I just need something to actually occur rather than being endlessly teased...
So, aside from Arifureta, what did I read? Well... Uh...

How NOT to Summon a Demon Lord (10-ish volumes).
So, I do not think it is a surprise to anyone that watched the anime that this was intended to be the trashiest trash to ever trash. However, I enjoyed it greatly! The reason I finally decided to actually read this is because of how many memories of enjoying the anime I had. The main thing that always stuck in my mind was the girls showing the desire for intimacy with the protagonist and it actually happening. They spend nights together and hug each other a lot in the story, which I love greatly.
The other thing that I like is, as ever, and overpowered protagonist that is recognised as such. He's actually nowhere near as overpowered as I'd have liked during some points of the story, but it's fine.
Now, most instances of what I refer to as "intimacy" is the novel trying to pretend there are sex scenes in there. Because it can't actually do that with describing them, it describes equivalent things, within which a lot of contact and hugging and lying together that I just absolutely love.
I'm somewhere in an odd spectrum where I like sex except the sex part or something? Cuddles for the win! This makes me love this story for displaying intimacy and bonding between the characters, that for sure love one another.
As such, for the characters and for the overpoweredness, this was an extremely pleasant read.
My final question is: This story seems like a really low bar to set. It seems like supremely generic male power fantasy, so why is it that I have so much difficulty finding other stories like it? It seems to me most lack the actual intimacy and consequent bonding of the characters.
Like, love triangles/harems with loads of innuendo or trying to get into bed with the protagonist sure exist, but... Not like this? At least, not any officially translated Light Novels I know of. Am I... missing something?
So that's it for what I read, if I'm not forgetting something. I've probably started something(s) that I wasn't in the mood for at the time and will likely try to get my money's worth some other day.

Mr Poltroon reacted to Dreamysyu in What Light Novel are you reading right now?
Well, looks like it's time for a new update.
Recently I've been looking through some shoujo novels published by J-novel club, and I had some pretty mixed reactions about them.

I Refuse to Be Your Enemy. I've already read this novel as a fan-translation, but I dropped it back then because of some reasons unrelated to the quality of the novel itself. Overall though my impressions about it didn't change. It looks like a rather well-written fantasy story with good characters. There isn't really much else to say about this story from just one volume, but it definitely shows some good potential and may become one of my favorites.

Tearmoon Empire. To be honest, I wasn't able to finish even the first volume, but it isn't really the fault of this novel. The problem is that it is a comedy of misunderstandings, and I feel like this type of comedy needs some very specific tastes to be enjoyed. I read a few other novels like that, but the problem is that I simply can't help but be irritated when due to some impossible odds every character ends up completely misinterpreting the MC's actions and believe that she is some kind of a genius saint, while in reality she's anything but.

The White Cat's Revenge as Plotted from the Dragon King's Lap. Well, I guess this works as a guilty pleasure, and I may even read the second volume. The story is cute and all... But, honestly, how this kind of trash even managed to get an official release, let alone the English translation? It's full of plot holes, all characters act like overgrown kids who create problems from nothing, and the MC is confirmed to be ridiculously OP early on (I mean, she can literally switch off magic in an entire country if she really wishes for it), but the next moment she is completely powerless. What the hell? I mean, if you make you characters OP, at least make them consistently OP.

The Extraordinary, the Ordinary, and SOAP! Lol. Overall, it's basically just a cute shoujo fantasy story. There's nothing really amazing in it, but it's just consistently good, and the MC is pretty hardworking, which I always like. I personally enjoy this type of stories a lot and definitely going to finish it.

Can Someone Please Explain What’s Going On?!  Another cute shoujo with a hardworking MC. It started extremely boring, but got pretty okay by the middle of the volume. The only thing that I dislike, and which kind of makes me wonder if I really want to continue reading it, is the fact that the male lead is a bit of an asshole.
Other than that, I've been following a few ongoing series, but I've already wrote about them in my earlier posts. Also, I just learned that one of my favorite web novels, Shini Yasui, also got picked up by J-novel by the name of Deathbound Duke's Daughter. Which is pretty crazy, considering that the light novel release in Japan has been on hiatus since 2017, but who knows, maybe this English release will give it enough momentum to continue. I've probably already mentioned these in some other posts, but I think it makes sense to repeat the main reasons why I love this novel. Putting it in the spoiler box for convenience.
