    Fureraba ~Friend to Lover~
    Summary
    Springtime.
The season of the cherry blossoms, and a time of new beginnings, new encounters, and new people.
For Aoba Kyousuke, this new season marks the start of his second year in high school, and after taking a moment to reflect, and looking at the friends around him...
All he can find is a dumbass too horny for his own good, and a weirdo who can't get over his strange fetish for lizard-humanoid creatures.
Sure enough he enjoys hanging out with them, and he wouldn't ever think of giving it up,
but something feels missing. A precious, valuable part of everyone's adolescence, and something he might just miss out on at this rate...
What is that something? Why, love. So upon realizing this, he shouts out to the world--
    "I WANT A GIRLFRIEND!"
He'll need to give it his all, of course, because he knows that love does not come to those who just wait.

Ending Guideline / Suggested Route Order
There are four heroines. In order to get into the routes proper, you must select the heroine in the choice screen (when available) and then select to talk about topics that interest her.
This walkthrough will, among other things, clarify which topics interest a heroine. By selecting the topics within the walkthrough you will always receive a decent amount of affection and you may choose any combination of topics that interests you.

    Walkthrough
Talk topics will be in brackets [] with the relevant questions for any heroine underneath between quotes "". Sometimes these questions will lead to further questions, which will be indicated by -->.
Some questions seem to provide more affection, so I'll mark those with (EXTRA). (Will be removed in the final version of the guide)
Not all possible questions will be presented, but there are enough that you will be able to move to the next stage.
NOTE: For some of the girls, when you have one at stage 4 and another at stage 3 a jealousy short scene will display.

Mr Poltroon reacted to Dreamysyu in What Anime are you watching now?
Finished Ascendance of a Bookworm, season 3. Overall, it's still the same anime. I can't talk from the anime-only perspective, since I've read the source material, but I think the anime is pretty decent. It's probably the best they could do with the source material using its limited budget. This season in particular feels a bit short, but it covers only two volumes of the light novel, and there are not that many things happening there, though the events that do happen are pretty great.
Still, I'd heavily recommend reading the LN over watching the anime. There are two main reasons for that. First of all, the anime skips some stuff. It's not anything major, and it's understandable why they do it since the slow pacing of a book wouldn't work here. Still, one of the things I love about this story is its attention to detail, which makes the fantasy world where it takes place feel so real. The anime manages to capture this aspect well enough, but the LN is still much better in this regard. Secondly, there's simply no way the anime is ever going to give us the complete story. The LN it is based on is truly massive with more than 30 volumes, and these three seasons of anime covered only the first 7. Honestly, I'm not expecting another season of anime at all, which is a shame, since some people consider these parts to be an extended prologue, and the latest season ended on a rather depressing note.
Talking about this story in general, it's pretty amazing. The world-building is insane, and the characters are pretty good as well. The MC actually has to adapt to the fantasy world, since her values clash with the values of its inhabitants so much. And not in the edgy Shield Hero type of way. She actually stays true to herself, though becomes slightly more flexible. Overall, it's my favorite isekai and is the perfect example that, if done right, this genre has a lot more potential than the popular opinion suggests. I recall, in the past, when I just started the book, I said that this is a story that avoids the usual isekai cliches, but going further in the story it becomes pretty obvious that I was actually wrong. As it turns out even by the end of the part that the anime covered, it actually has a lot of common tropes, but they are included in a rather creative way that makes them not feel out of place here.
Overall, if we are talking about the LN, i'd give it a strong 9/10, or maybe even higher, depending on how it ends. As for the anime, I'm pretty torn about what rating to give it. I guess I'll settle on 8/10.
    PS. Also, this.

Mr Poltroon reacted to Angela DeMille in Penlight [16+] [BxG] [Free / Donate] (Latest Release: April 13th 2024)
    Hello, everyone!
This month's update brings with it a number of new scenes spread across three of Penlight's old unfinished story paths. The highlight this month comes from the fact there's now a new ending written for the Villainous Devotion storyline! To see it, play along the Devotion storyline as usual and towards the end the option for Kyou to declare he still wants Nozomi to be his girlfriend will now be playable to a conclusion. I hope you all enjoy how it plays out~
The other main addition is on Sayori's original Alter path. There's a whole new scene written for when Kyou makes an obviously questionable decision, and is something I know a lot of people wanted to see. It can be found by taking the following choices on Sayori's route: Making you think you're someone else -> Switch her back -> Don't use it ->Apologize -> Hypnotize her again.
Oh, and if anyone's confused by anything I've written above, please check out the flowchart game guide linked below. All the parts new/updated for this release are marked in green so you should be able to find any new story content quickly and easily.
As ever you can find this month's release in PC, Linux, Mac and Android versions on my Patreon, itch.io or SubscribeStar pages. I've also linked the most recent flowchart guide on the latest public news post on Patreon.
So alright, that's all for this month! I hope you enjoy the new release and I'll see you next month with some more written content

    Hello, all!
The new Sayori Alter storyline path continues its slow crawl to completion in this update, with one new scene fully scripted out. Progress has been a lot slower than I can be happy with, and I've since taken a little break from writing this particular story path, but I hope I can come back and finish it off sooner than later.
We also have the first CG made for this storyline, and there's one added for an old story, Nozomi's Trance route, that marks the start of a fun scene that occurs during the weekend in that particular story path.
As ever you can find this month's release in PC, Linux, Mac and Android versions on my Patreon, itch.io or SubscribeStar pages. I've also linked the most recent flowchart guide on the latest public news post on Patreon.
Anyway, that's all I've got for this month ^^; For next time I have a new ending in the works for one of the villainous story routes, plus whatever else I manage to accomplish over the coming weeks. We'll see~

    Hi, everyone!
The February release of Penlight sees some significant progress made with Sayori's ongoing story path, which if you haven't been following along is a branch of her "Alter" storyline. Its most recently-written scene has had a bit of a rewrite since last time, in addition to one all-new scene and some more outlining has been done for the following scenes which brings us pretty close to a resolution!
Besides that we have three new CGs for the game's bulging art gallery. They include one to complete a very long sequence of images for the most memorable scene of Hiroko's Gullible story path, and there's one for Penlight's first ever storyline, Delusion, which also comes with a significant rewrite of the scene it appears in.
As ever you can find this month's release in PC, Linux, Mac and Android versions on my Patreon, itch.io or SubscribeStar pages. I've also linked the most recent flowchart guide on the latest public news post on Patreon. Yes, it's last month's version of the guide since it's unchanged from last time.
Next month I'm looking to be close to done with this Alter storyline branch, and we should start to see a CG or two to accompany the scenes written for this part of the game. See you then!

Saku Saku: Love Blooms with the Cherry Blossoms
    Fully Translated

    Summary

Spring is the flowering season, the season of the cherry blossoms. It is the time for first meetings and partings, when the buds start sprouting.

Yuma is a second-year student at Mihaya Academy who listens to love problems from girls at the school and gives them thoughtful advice. This has made him quite popular and loved, resulting in a 21,000 yen (taxes included) ‘love bounty’ placed on him. The girls came to him with problems ranging from jealousy to infidelity. Having heard about so many troubles related to love, Yuma lost any desire he had for it.

One day, a mysterious girl appeared before him. She had never been in love, but she believed that it was a wonderful thing. She asked him if he would like to be in love, and that as a love fairy, she will help his love come true.

A girl who cannot fall in love. A boy who has no interest in love. If they end up falling in love with each other, how will the world change?

As the title says, I'm Adze. Unlike most of you, I'm actually pretty new to weebery and I'd never actually watched any kind of anime (except for Pokemon because what 90s kid hasn't?) until I was in my 20s. In fact, it was visual novels that got me into Japanese media altogether, and I only got into VNs because someone convinced me to try out "the cripple dating sim made by 4Chan." So yeah, my entire involvement with this community is essentially a happy accident resulting from a misunderstanding.

I'm also a small-time Youtuber who focuses on critical analysis of video games and VNs, though I don't want my presence on this site to be just shameless self-promotion. If you've seen anything of mine, it's probably either my Touhou video that went viral or my Muv-Luv video that made the rounds on VN Twitter. I feel like it'd be in poor taste to drop links here, but you can find a link to my work in my profile if you'd like.

Aside from that, I like video games, reading actual books (most recently, I read through the Lightbringer series and aside from some weirdness towards the end, I absolutely loved it. Highly reccomended), and interacting with like-minded people online. Just today, I was involved in an impromptu group discussion on worldbuilding on Discord and it was absolutely incredible. Hopefully I can become friendly with some of you here and have some good fun with this niche interest of ours. Despite my staggering backlog, I'm always happy for more recommendations.

But if I knew I was going to get the support I've gotten for making it I would've swung for a college setting instead. Ah wells~

Operetta Due and Dramatic Create announced that Koezaru wa Akai Hana (en: The Crimson Flower that Divides: Lunar Coupling) will be released on Switch and Steam in Japanese, English, and Chinese next year.
Here is the announcement on Twitter.
Koezaru wa Akai Hana was originally released in 2012 as an 18+ Otome Game. Two years later an all-ages version (17+) was released for PSP and later for PS Vita as well.
We don't know yet if the Steam version will be the original 18+ version or the all-ages version. But to be save we should expect the all-ages version.
Still, as there are very few 18+ Otome Games playable in English I hope there will be a way to play the original version as well.
I personally know of the game from review/summaries made by JP players. I don't know if I'll like it due to the subject matter but I will try it out!
I recommend Otome Kitten's article for more detailed information.

Kukrushka ruined so many damn loops for me. Once she gets set on something, everyone and I mean EVERYONE joins up with her. Or once you know without a doubt she is the Gnosia, she easily manipulates people like Otome and from there she steamrolls to victory. And if you are too heavy on accusations at her, you're done almost instantly against her. She was rough for me to deal with. Sha-ming and Yuriko were pretty straight forward. My bias almost never let me go after Setsu though. Setsu is love, Setsu is life.

I think the best part is that the characters have personalities, and these personalities inform gameplay. Here's some rambling on how gameplay functions:
I think, in the end, what really makes my day are the deductions. Spending a few minutes looking over all the reports and systematically detecting all the enemies is absolutely fantastic.
    Raqio is the best.

Gnosia was one of the games I preordered back when it was coming out to Switch, due to how highly people thought about it on the Vita. It's an incredibly good Werewolf sim considering it's single player, you touched on it but I want to elaborate on just how well they pulled off the transformation from a social game based on reading people into a single player story based game. Each character has AI and likes and dislikes and preferences, even down to the little known fact that the player selects a favorite color for their profile and this gives them minor bonuses and penalties with individual characters, setting up individual player's casts slightly differently from the very start.
It works wonderfully as a social deduction game despite being single player because they set it up where the main plot mostly involves just learning about the cast, which directly translates to a better understanding of what is happening in debates. Every character has invisible values for how much they like and dislike each other character. You find out X character loves Y character, which might make some of their previous actions make more sense but more importantly helps you "read" X better. You need to plan around the fact that X doesn't like accusing Y, and if they do end up accusing Y then you better pay attention because that is not done lightly.
The RPG style skill levels for things like if they're good at lying all tie into their personalities: The shy dude can get away with not speaking up because everyone knows he is shy, the loud and rude dude can get away with some bold actions because people expect him to take them, the cute girl can more easily charm certain people into being on her side just by asking nicely. These are all real types of players if you play any social form of Werewolf, and Gnosia does a perfect job at making them all feel alive. It didn't take long before I was thinking about the characters and not meta gaming, just like IRL Werewolf, with thoughts like "she's being a bit aggressive today/he's staying oddly quiet/why would X say that about Y out of nowhere/oh damn I think this person just pissed off the group with their personality and not because they are guilty".
It's the little quirks that really make the cast shine in the end, the stuff beyond the personalities the RPG stats indicate. Late game in Gnosia the cast shines the brightest, several characters gain a complex moveset they can use, with some characters even having unique moves (that they can teach the player) far enough into the game. As new discussion skills are introduced, characters will have preferences on how to approach those skills. An easy example is to demand everyone say they are human (aka not Gnosia), each cast member has different innate feelings on this question. There's at least 1 cast member that actually hates the idea of admitting they are human, on top of several cast members that are wary of this approach because they don't like to think of themselves as human or aren't a member of the human species or they dislike speaking up in general. Characters can stay silent and just let the rest of the group speak up, and some people can flat out demand the group stop this activity. There's a lot of good mental work involved in these situations, did they stop the group because they just hate the idea, or are they the Gnosia, or are they a role that wants to cause chaos, or do they think it's a waste of time for a character specific reason? It really makes each character feel "real" because they all have different opinions and thoughts that the player can never directly see, only learn through observation, which is the heart of a game like Werewolf.

Also something important to note, I've talked to several people that think they finished the game but actually haven't. The credits rolling do not signify the full ending of the game has been reached. For a more direct spoiler for anyone that is unsure what I mean but wants to be sure they get the ending:
