I'm going to play it just because one of the heroines is named Teru, for reasons that would spoil a certain big VN

In other words, you liked the half-tragic endings on the other arcs and didn't like the way the true/harem ending conveniently solves all the problems under the flag of revealing the true mastermind?
Conveniently? Yes.

I thought that harem ending 1.0 tag meant the same thing as what we had in Sharin no Kuni, so I made the mistake of playing this game. It doesn't even have group scenes, yet it's a full-on harem with all four heroines plus another character. It's like the devs wanted to piss off both my kind and harem fans at the same time.
The true route is also one of those that completely destroy the atmosphere of the VN by negating all the tragic elements that other routes present,
Spoilergiving you an extremely convenient ending.
I was really enjoying the game before the true route though, so that's a bummer.
Here's a sample of the BGM, it's pretty good. https://clyp.it/gv43ugdi

What happened to the writer? Did he move to light novels/manga or..?

I have no idea why you're assuming marriage is going to stay. Its importance might still be widely emphasized, but it's going to go away, you'll have to come to terms with that.
note how your sentence had no supporting arguments, not that I'm sure the opposition is better (I have more entertaining things to do than remember any argument made here)
I feel like you're only looking at western cultures. There's no sign of marriage going away where I live, and I'm sure that's the case in many countries around the globe.

I've no idea why you're assuming marriage is going away. Its importance might be decreasing in places, but it's here to stay, you'll have to come to terms with that.

My problem is the form in which they included those stories, not the fact that they were included at all. Since they don't make sense within the context, they should never have been branch-offs in the first place. Instead, they should have been 'gifts to the reader' in the extras section for having played through the true ending. As it was, I literally snapped my copy of Eustia in half after I finished Eustia's ending and used a blow torch to melt it down into a lump of silicon.
That would mean having to play through the entire game, and it is quite long, to get to H-scenes (and with 4 H per heroine + 3 bonus scenes, you really want to spread it out), greatly reducing the amount of H (which would make it a non-August game and kind of put that art style to waste), or making it a Eushully game (with the "bang everyone" model), which would kill the romance and turn off a good deal of players - and it just doesn't have the amount of H content that makes Eushully games work.

About Eustia (spoilers)
SpoilerYou can treat other heroine endings as "what if" scenarios just as well. For example, in Licia route, Licia and her group fight and kill Gilbert inside the palace, without going to the tower to deal that final blow to the angel. You can assume they just caught him before he could do that. It's a bit harder to do this for other routes (if you chose an earlier heroine), but imagine that Caim kept going from there and helped Licia with the uprising.

mocha´s mesmerizing bg-art - check
partly written by earu - double check
promising/interesting setting - let´s go!Fully agree about the art, but who is earu? VNDB doesn't really have anything on him. A famous LN/anime writer?

What is special about Re: Lief?

Yuyukana was particularly annoying in the repetitiveness of the plot across 3/4 routes (excepting Ako), however the visuals and especially the BGM saved the game for me. I come back to listen to it a lot.

I found the fandisk's Mifuyu route to be more depressing than some utsuge I've read.
SpoilerIf you look at it realistically, their relationship has no chance of lasting when they can't find any time to spend alone together for months. Even when that time finally comes, they'd be too tired and just sleep instead.

Speaking of Akagoei's sequels, how much do I miss out on if I read Reminiscence without reading Akagoei games? How connected are these two series? Is Reminiscence heavy on the plot?

Tayutama... I've just barely recovered from the trauma of Ameri's last H-scene. Lump of Sugar likes to include both sweet/nice and the oh-god-why type of scenes, some of which can read like rape. That said,
SpoilerMifuyu
route features great use of H for character development.

While my tastes are completely irreconcilable with yours, I like to read your blog posts for insight and general info on titles. I read a lot of things myself, but have neither the ability nor the will to write reviews or even simple comments intended for other people. One can also be sure that these posts are spoiler-free (at least that's how it appears to be) and don't show CGs which most "spoiler-free" blogs love to slap all over the posts, which is the main reason I avoid them in most cases.

I like it so far. Good comedy and characters, the story seems nice too.
Have to say it feels odd that performance scenes only show the heroines' CGs, when it's supposed to be a quartet.
Edit: didn't like the game. Ai was great tho.

Looking at your VNDB list and not finding these
H2O -Footprints in the Sand-. The plot is very different from the anime, if I'm right about the reason you haven't read it. (less plot in comparison, but it's more atmospheric and makes more sense). If you ask me what's the best thing about the game, I'd say it's the music.
Haruka Kanata. It might look like a moege on the outside, but don't judge a book by its cover. It's by SORAHANE, that should give you a clue on what degree of plot it has (though Sakura, Sakimashita is the one game by that company I've yet to read). Just make sure you install the latest patch (and there's a lot of patches that have come out since the release): the game is famous for being riddled with bugs. Oh and it's unhookable, though you probably don't care.

Well thanks for the warning. Not touching this one, that's for sure.

Darbury, if I ever start a TL project, be my editor.

If you attempt to learn Japanese for the sake of reading a VN, I can pretty much promise you, you will never learn Japanese.
Just because you failed doesn't mean others can't do it. I'm reading untranslated stuff quite well after a year of learning.

While I really liked the game for the most part, the open ending killed it for me. Such a shame.
