  1. It would be nice if the tags could turn gray and faded out after the positions have been filled (makes it easier to follow projects)
  2. It does pleasantly escape a few ubiquitous vn tropes such as white knighting, osanajimi. Rin's and Shizune's route are probably pretty uncommon in terms of their flavour and feel. Also, the MC's though process/how he mulls over the concept of disability and how to interact with people in the first chapter is a degree better than the average self-loathing protagonist or simply the protagonist who is afraid of making work/bothering other people. The variety of settings, production values, and execution are only middling though. I would say it's a alright, noticeably better as a first game.

  4. You could place the translation on VNReader and then record the game on autoplay.
  5. It might be Aiyoku no Eustia. Having spent a bit over 100 hours reading. Being used to sitting in the middle of the setting, and watching characters wrangle while the situation slowly but surely develops, the withdrawal was severe.
  6. Finished Chapter 3 of Muramasa. I later read gare's rundown of the chapter https://gareblogs.wordpress.com/2012/08/29/133/ and learned what was up.
  7. RPG (You walk around to interact and advance every part of the story) Adventure Game (You click at things in a gameplay/interactive fashion, to advance most parts of the story). VN (You read text to advance to virtually all parts of the story. You may arrive at plenty of gameplay or point and click (like Kara no Shoujo), but how you "got there" was through reading text, not physically moving there in-game.)
  8. What does "Sekai Project" even do, as the publisher? Negotiations, approaching the head company, and distribution?
  9. Played up until I think the end (the game looped back automatically, and I did the escort battle second (it was the only battle that took me multiple tries). The story is space opera but on the light end. Choosing where to go in the ship, starmap, and upgrades gives you a sense of direct agency, but the dialogue and story isn't that strong. Even so, since the game structure and setting combined is unique, it still is exiciting, if not more of a game with story, than a story with gameplay. Which is fine, because the gameplay is fun. If the non-gameplay storytelling or character depth increases later, then I'm looking forward to that as well.   11. What you can do is copy a second copy of the game and leave it unpatched, download a 100% save file. When you hit a h-scene, just swap the save file (back the old one up), open the unpatched folder, go to recollection, and enjoy the "deleted scene". Shouldn't actually take much extra time.

  15. Everybody who has a part of the file someone else needs can be uploading to that person. Seeders and Leecher's just are people who have all the files in the torrent, or don't. So usually if there are no seeder's you cannot obtain a full copy of the file (which depending on the torrent, usually means you can't get what you want.)

Clephas, would you consider trying Gin'iro? </shameless suggestion> I thought it was interesting and certainly different from anything else I've seen so far, but don't know what metric to begin judging it on. Would be cool to see another opinion. Edit: might as well drop a DL link that doesn't involve 8 rar parts.
  19. Rather than ratings, I triangulate vn's using seeing what interesting-looking tags they have. I kind If the art catches my eye I might check something out. But I don't have intentions on picking up a generic moe'y looking title unless there are some compelling things said about it in some review. Actually that's how I accumulate most of my backlog.
  20. Got around to finishing Gin'iro. I feel kind of stupid, not being able to follow some of the things the author presented. Still, the characters come across and I enjoyed it. Recommended for people who people who don't mind utsuge, want to see something different, and prefer the older "bishoujo" presentation/interaction style, as opposed to the modern version of "moe".
  21. There are a lot of other much more prominent social factors. Yes he makes a connection which seems logical at first, but if you think about still how small the VN demographic is compared to the mainstream games in Japan, and how that is only a part of the whole relevant population, he's missing perspective.
  22. How much translation has there been in total? I got about 7000 anime series, so I'll round down to 5000 for fan translations. 5000*26 episodes*300 lines per episode = 39,000,000 lines translated by anime sub-community. There are ~630 japanese VN's translated to English, but most of the earlier ones aren't fan translations. In the VN community, I think there are like 150 fan-translated titles? (real number may be between 100 and 150) 150*30,000 =4,500,000 Note: resubs happen often in anime, but almost never in for VN's If we assume that the percentage of fans who vote on myanimelist to be comparable to the number of vn fans who cast votes on vndb: The most popular couple of anime series have around 200,000 votes. The most popular couple of visual novels have about 3,000 votes. Anime (195 lines translated per vote) VNs: (1500 lines translated per vote) As you can see, the VN community is much smaller, and yet has a much larger text base. It's no wonder everything isn't done. There are probably about 450 VN's that people would like to be translated (triple the current number).
  23. Yeah, pretty much. Just because not having an explanation incidentally led to and a lack of an expositional side against the emotional one, doesn't mean that an explanation totally should have been there.
