  1. Little Busters anime, OVA release. Didn't notice this before but look who popped up in the background: It's like playing "Where's Waldo?" all over again. Well played, well played.
  2. What time is the date? Also, welcome!
  3. Interesting you say this actually... I was much like you when I started some of my early VNs. I think halfway through Little Busters was when I actually turned on the voices, though I can't remember anything before that. Now however I read VNs at my own pace, and while I like to keep the voices on, I never let them finish before I click the next part of the text. When I finish reading, I move on basically.
  4. Not sure how many people in the community enjoy VN/video game OSTs, but I am definitely a fan of 8-bit remixes and the like. A friend of mine (DJ name: AdhesiveWombat) mixes video game style tunes and I think they are pretty awesome. Would love to hear what you guys think. Here are 3 tunes. Nightshade is probably my favorite, but I like them all. It's sort of a hit or miss with this style of music, so hopefully it's enjoyable. Friend is always looking for feedback. 5. I definitely feel like the award system for the website should follow the same format used in Little Big Planet 2 and their PSN trophy list. For those of you who haven't played that game, all the icons for the trophies look like little badges and have certain achievements associated with them. In addition, the game has a series of badges itself which also have the same look to them that you can showcase on your profile when people look you up in game. Heck, one of the badges in the game relates to being on the staff for the LBP2 team. Here are some of the icons the game uses, just to showcase a few: Obviously we could use our own designs for the awards, but I do like the rounded "badge" feeling to them. Just a thought. On another note, the staff icon makes everyone look like they work for Red Cross or something, or are part of a medical staff. If that was the intention of the icon, works great! Haha.
  6. I got it! I'll be the Donut Princess for Halloween this year. Look here, I already have the ears made.
  7. Wait...they were selling cream soda in the cafeteria today? Forget this juicebox...
  8. Oh I almost forgot! If you have any interest in taking the surveys, feel free! Keep in mind some of the questions may be spoilers, but for the most part are pretty straightforward. If I notice enough people have done it, heck I can post them up sometime as well! 1-9, 1 being the best, answer all of the questions or some, your call. 9. Funny you mention this, because I wasn't into anime until about the time we started this group. I had just finished playing through Little Busters and had heard it was already an ongoing show, and told my one friend (the same guy who introduced me to Katawa Shoujo) to at least watch it with me considering he hates VNs otherwise. I ended up feeling bad for making them sit through it, and was like you guys can get a choice of an anime as well. After that, it sort of just clicked and we did another round.
  10. I think G-Senjou made me more surprised at the big plot twist near the end of the game rather than emotionally affected: As for me though, I have only ever shed a single tear once in any VN I have ever played. Only one time:
  11. I liked KS a lot. Through my first play, I actually didn't land a single girl's route and ended up failing Act I, which makes me wonder why I had the confidence to play VNs anymore after that. But I did land Rin first, and while I love her route to this day, I can't really say she was my favorite. Honestly what I enjoyed about KS the most was the fact that it focused on a multitude of characters (in this case the girls) who you already know face problems, yet also focused on the protagonist equally so in a way that didn't derail the who idea behind the game. It was a good balance in my opnion of showcasing everyone's struggle. If I could say one thing I didn't like about the game, it's the fact that there really isn't any sort of connectivity to the whole story. To me the game is sort of meant to be played like a video game: you pick a route, beat the game, and call it a day. Sure you could go back and experience all the routes but they don't really relate to one another on a grand scale. Actually it was very disheartening playing the other routes after your first because the amount of foreshadowing they did regarding the other routes felt painful. I know what Rin is going through, why do you need to hint at that fact in Emi's route when I can't do anything about it? Overall though, rant aside, it's a good game and will always have a spot in my heart.
  12. Episode 23 of Attack on Titan. When it cut over to this guy, my friends and I lost it, and respectively made a meme about it.
  13. Malheureusement, je suis américain, et je n'étudie jamais la littérature française sauf dans l'université. Je le sais...probablement je la devrais étudier, mais...eh. Bref, j'espère que nous devenons amis!
  14. Interestingly enough, when I was in Japan two months ago, Sekai to Sekai no Mannaka de was being advertised all over SofMap stores in Akihabara. The game looked somewhat interesting so I ended up grabbing a couple of cheap Lump of Sugar works for like ¥1700 each. Ended up buying Hanairo Heptagram, Hello,good-bye, and Prism Rhythm. Pretty good prices if you ask me, and some of them were the 5th aniversary editions. I got a bunch of stuff like artbooks, mousepads, and the like. Story aside, the advertisement (opening video) for the game was catchy in itself. They also had a demo for it, but sadly I could not read any of it so I was left wondering. Still, you should try one of the games if possible.
  15. Ah this thread brings back memories... My first VN, like many others in here, was Katawa Shoujo, but for me it wasn't due to my own accord. A buddy of mine introduced me to it, and he wouldn't have even known about it had it not hit the artist community by storm. Around the time this was released back in 2012, DeviantART was overflowing with KS artwork, and for about 3 months he kept asking himself what the heck it was. Eventually he tried the game and told me I needed to play it. Interestingly enough, I remember sitting down and doing a little bit of Act I. My friend kept telling me you have to be a complete dumbass to not land at least 1 girl's route by the time it finished. I won't spoil the bad ending before Act I finishes for those who haven't played it, but let's just say I was pretty unfortunate. I think I should have given up on VNs at that point, but for some reason I started looking into them more. The rest is history as they say.
  16. Well worth it. Just don't stay up until 5 in the morning like I did for a week straight. Geez... -_- As for me, I've been going back to finish VNs I never got the chance to complete. Katawa Shoujo, G-Senjou, Grisaia...I've tackled about 3-4 routes in each but didn't get around to finishing them all.
  17. This did remind me of a certain meme just now, yes it did. @ Nosebleed: Honestly, I didn't make any of the charts. That was all done by the same friend of mine who does the analytics. He just sort of hands us the survey we make and we don't find out the results until they are tallied. It's a nice surprise that way I guess.
  18. Yukiru: I played Little Busters in its entirety before I ended up watching both seasons as an anime, and I was pretty happy with knowing I played the VN. It was nice to be able to say, "Oh hey, I remember this scene. It pretty much was spot on/way off." Knowing what you say about After Story, Key always does a pretty good job on making those endings pretty emotional. Flutterz: Thanks! Merçi! Grazie molto! Schönen dank! Tack! ありがと!
  19. I have wanted to watch this, but I know that I should probably play the visual novel first to do it justice, so I am avoiding it for now. Someday though, someday.
  20. Yeah this one was a little tough, and when we were voting on nominations, it did stump us for a bit. Still, in the end we voted on it being that he really was there to "support" Simon throughout the show. He did score 1st place in the end though!
  21. To follow up my previous post, here are the results for the Oscars we have held so far. My friend, not me, writes the analytics after we have all discussed the choices as a group. Seeing as we only recently added the photo sets for the 2nd season, the 1st season only contains the analytics without any hint to what the questions actually were. Apologies for that. Anyways, here they are: Please Note: The screenshots below with spoiler tags obviously contain moments in the show that, well, are spoilers. Season 1 Analytics - Steins;Gate, Gurren Lagann, and Psycho Pass. Pretty solid rankings overall. That mysterious fourth bar was for The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. Here's how they stacked up concerning all categories (3 points for first, 2 for second, and 1 for third place in the votes): The big take away here is just how good Stein's Gate is - it won male lead, female lead, and female supporting character. Daru placed second in male supporting character (after Kamina, of course). The plot-related awards were also in Steins;Gate's favor. That's not to say that the other anime were bad. Gurren Lagann is obviously fantastic, and Mirai Nikki and Psycho Pass also placed very well. However, the other choices did not really compete. There were less joke categories in this season's Oscars, which made it much more slanted towards the "highest quality" show. That being said, the shows that ranked poorly in this iteration of the awards were still enjoyable, and they did leave me with something, whether it be bus drivers, space heaters, or scenes with blatant child pornography. Season 2 Analytics - Mawaru Penguindrum was rated as the best anime, but it lacked the character depth that Attack On Titan had, which it used to squeeze out some extra points. I'm a huge Mawaru Penguindrum fanboy, but I also chose to watch AoT, so I'll let it slide. AoT and MP both had four 1st place finishes. Biggest surprise for me was Angel Beats with 15 points. It came in a strong 4th place finish overall. Hinata blew out the male supporting character competition, scoring 2nd place votes from each of us. Biggest disappointment in terms of the scores was Durarara. It had a number of 2nd place finishes (four!), but failed to capture any 1st place awards. I believe it suffered with Baccano! due to the lack of real main characters. Those may ask what the color coding is for the scores on the right. Well, as I mentioned, we each picked three anime. I picked Mawaru Penguindrum, Madoka Magica, and Attack On Titan. For the full list of scores, see this here. Please note this sheet does contain spoilers. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?ey=0AgY4wRhHIEzPdDItMk1IamJ3NzRYQmFzOUpkbF9XaUE&usp=sharing In addition, here are the photo sets for all the categories we chose (and yes, that is supposed to purposefully say "Hottest Gril") I prefer the George Foreman myself, she's pretty hot.
