As some may have noticed, both this and the project thread have been renamed to reflect that we're going to keep working on the series. How far we'll go depends on the others, but work on A-2 is beginning, while A-1 has hit some bumps that we'll work out eventually.
-
Prefer Monshiro route since i think it's better than Seiso but oh well
Also, A5 will be released in winter 2016 if google translation is right
Which side of winter? Winter 2016 is next month, or a year from now.

...Did someone say poll?!
http://strawpoll.me/6293047
(Though I do agree that the games should be released in order; barring hell freezing over, that should happen.)I mean, I mentioned a poll....
As for order, yea, I'd like to keep releases in order. Then again, who knows, maybe Minatosoft will release the whole A series as a single game before we finish, and we can just release them all at once(this should not be taken as a commitment to doing them all, nor saying we're not going to release one title at a time; this is a joke, please don't hurt me).

The way we see it, all of the A series is one game(and it's highly likely they'll release it as one game at some point in the future), so the order is mostly just whatever dowolf feels like working on next; failing that, drawing names out of a hat. If he wants to make a poll for what to do next, that's up to him.

Well, considering A-5 hasn't even been released in Japan, you've got one hell of a wait.
-
Well, let's not get way too excited. They never confirmed, nor denied, that they're doing the rest of the A series. Which is, if you think about it, is a good thing: I don't to get my hopes up for nothing.
Well, to be honest with you. They answered with "Probably" on the question "are you guys going to translate majikoi A-2 TO A-5 after you finished majikoi A-1"
I don't recall this being said, but I'll go ahead and say that it is indeed likely we'll continue with the rest of the A series. We'll have an update on this eventually.

Enough is enough. This thread is for the discussion of the translation project, not rehashing a months old debate.

Number of scripts is pretty much meaningless. For instance, in the original Majikoi, every route was contained in its own script file, but the file for each major route was some 10k lines long. And even here, while Azumi and Benkei have roughly the same number of script files, Benkei's is some 400kB compared to Azumi's 300kB.
(To put these numbers in perspective: Koyuki's route is about 300kB.)This, baiscally. File sizes are what are important, and uncompressed, the files start ballooning pretty fast. And I don't keep a local uncompressed copy of most of the images that need translation either, so my size is a bit off. The only time the numbers matter are when we're testing. Figuring out which file we're in at any given moment is a pain, as I'm sure kardo can tell you. Though many break by the day(a1_0626_0 would be a day on it's own, for example), several days have more than one script, and no clear indication where one ends and the next starts in the game.
-
The zips are bins(each of which is part of a routes script) I send kardo after fixing the initial errors he located, for retesting. We repeat this until the bin is as perfect as we can get it, then move on to the next one. Benkei has 33 bins. There are 3 misc bins, 19 sayaka bins, and eventually 31 Azumi bins. Each needs initial testing, fixes, and later QC. Essentially, we are puush's worst nightmare.
This is the folder I use for editing. I imagine kardo's is bigger, since I delete some stuff as I go(old zips).
-
I don't really remember is as too noticeable.
I have an entire log of errors from a single bin of Sayaka, all of them broken lines.
Did you send them to majitrans?
....I hope you're new, since Kardororororo is our tester and is the one making the reports...
-
Personally I would prefer a better translation than an earlier release.
As far as I'm aware, Sayaka's translation is fine. The errors are largely grammar/spelling or formatting related.
-
There's quite a few issues with them. They gave their routes a QC check in Majikoi S as well. Besides, it's good to make the routes' translations consistent with each other in the process.
If anyone is interested, once we're done, we can post the list of errors in sayaka. No promises the links will still work, but should give you an idea on quantity.
-
We're not really TLCing Sayaka(that I know of, anyway), just QCing for english errors.
-
Do you guys have any idea how long this will take? I have no problems waiting, but i would like to know that will this be finished this year (yeah, man can dream) or will it take somewhere around February - April next year.
And i assume you still have no solid plans of continuing translating the A-games after this one?
No ETA. Never ETA.
-
So?
All I said was "I didn't know they'd even started yet, I didn't see an announcement"
You don't need to start preaching about how much time or effort it takes to translate something. (or the fact that fan-translators do it as a hobby) I'm quite aware.
I could have sworn I mentioned it in this thread somewhere, but it's possible I didn't. Sorry about that.
-
Wairu released a translation for Benkei? When was this?
Someone from Wairu passed on their partial translation for Benkei, which is what dowolf is referring to.
-
No, there will be no partial patches. No, we don't take donations. Yes, the scripts are huge. Yes, there are a lot of them.

We QC'd their english, but did not TLC most of their patch. In hindsight, we likely should have, but meh.

Guys, as fun as this discussion is, let's make some things clear:
1) This is the A-1 thread. Not the thread for the original or S. Both of those still have open threads.
2) If a girl says no, at all, and a man forces himself on her, it's rape. It also works the other way around. If there is no active consent, it's rape.
3) Doing nothing =/= consent. Not even close.
I'm going to ask that if you're not going to discuss A-1 or the translation thereof, you post in a different thread. I'd also ask you all to remember that rape is bad, and saying that "it's not rape without resistance" is also bad. I would hate to see the mods come in and close this thread, but that's what will happen if you can't stay on topic.

I'm havin a bit of trouble... I'm getting "An internal exception occured (Address: 0x75007452)"
Anyone got a clue as to whats wrong?
Is it doing this at startup, or is it a crash error? What system are you using?
-
Huh. I made a joke on....VNDB, I think. I was under the impression that you guys would take a several month break before starting A-1, and the joke was something like "We're going to get A-1 in English before A-5 ever comes out."
Did not think I'd be accurate unintentionally.
Eh, I think we'll take our time more on this one, rather than plowing through route after route. Depends on what dowolf wants to do.
-
Now when you say the patch works with the base version of the game you're refering to the paid for hardcopy's you an order that don't come translated correct?
Any unmodified version of the game, obtained any way. Probably.
-
If you want to use it
PS: Looking forward to Benkei Route!
Thanks! This is what I was looking for. I'll put it in the main thread the next time I update it.

It's fine. It's marginally related to the game, and it's not like we post updates here anyway. All updates are posted on the website linked in the project thread. In retrospect, I should probably also update the project thread, but am so lazy.
