  1. Oh yeah, I got my room booked for Evo as well. Will probably enter Revelator, and Persona side tourney. Dunno about anything else yet.
  2. Just as a heads up, Persona 4 Arena Ultimax is free on PS+ right now, so if you're subscribed it's a free download.
  3. Just so you guys know, most games don't require an actual 360. Lots of games have input shortcuts that let you do a 270 instead and the 360 will still come out. So instead of worrying about going all the way around, try doing 6321478 and you should be good. Or just play Persona, a game with only quarter circle inputs :V
  4. What's your twitter? I would absolutely love to go to a local scene but I'm not sure of any around me. I am sure there are some in SF and neighboring cities but those are all 45 min - an hour away. Also, do you have BlazBlue: CPE on PS3/4? Personally going to be buying that since it is on a massive sale, I have heard bad things about it but I don't mind all to much, GG isn't really for me. Nothing against the gameplay but the red aesthetic turns me off ;__; Super stupid reason, I know (and it's not on sale). Probably going to get it on PS4 since there is a higher chance my irl friends will get it on PS4 as well. Just not sure which scene is more active if that even matters. I think you managed to find me since I think I followed you today? LOL. I have CP, but not CPE. I don't actually really play BB, just Xrd Ultimax and UNIEL. Plus if I wanted to play BB, there's a Central Fiction arcade cab at an arcade down here everyone goes to. As far as I know, it's the only BBCF cabinet in North America so everyone flocks to it. I think most of the NorCal anime players are around San Jose? I went to Fanime last year and there were a TON of good players that I got to hang out with. Maybe look into Caliburst and NorCal Dogfight and see if either is near your area. I think those are the regular Monthly NorCal events. Yeah, that was me. Finally got Chie's JBB > 2A > 2B > C > 236A > 236A > 236C down. While I am not 100% consistent by any means I know the inputs my heart, and my timing is almost there, I can do it about 7/10 times, so not bad. Working on JBB > C > 236A > 236A > 236236D now. It doesn't have as many inputs as the first combo I learned but does about 25%, though it does use meter. The first combo did roughly 20%, IIRC, with out meter. Also, I forgot, what's the difference between shadow and normal? Shadow characters are more offensively focused. They don't have a burst, or the awakening mechanic, but once they get 100 meter they can active Shadow Frenzy, which gives them infinite meter for a short time and lets them cancel special moves into other special moves. They also have a little bit more health and do a little bit less damage, but gain meter very quickly. Because most characters can just burst the shadow frenzy combos in 1.1, the only "viable" shadow characters are the ones who's frenzy combos are naturally unburstable, like S. Chie, S. Mitsuru, and S.Naoto. Besides those three you don't see shadows played too often? Shadow Narukami is okay, but the lack of a burst makes them really unstable to play. In 2.0 they're getting totally revamped. In that version they'll have a burst, and activating shadow frenzy uses your burst instead of 100 meter.

  6. I don't netplay too often since there's an offline Persona scene where I live, but if you guys need help learning the game hit me up on twitter and I'll see if we can get some training set up online. Persona is the game that got me into the FGC, and I've made a lot of great friends through playing it so I'm always eager to help new people learn the game!
  7. AHAH. PERSONA TALK. MY TIME HAS COME. I'm gonna spoiler tag stuff since this might go a little long. SO. @Mugi in regards to Adachi: and @LiquidShu for Chie: If you guys aren't using dustloop, make sure to give your characters' pages a look through. (Especially their move list!) The info isn't as up-to-date as I'd like, but it's a great place to start out. To be honest, I'm sort of a Kanji character specialist so he's the only character that I've written a full tutorial for, but I've dabbled with other characters and even won some local tournaments with a scrubby Narukami. If you're looking for a strong, easy to learn character Narukami is amazing. You only need to learn 2-3 combos and you're ready to go. http://www.dustloop.com/wiki/index.php?title=P4AU/Chie_Satonaka http://www.dustloop.com/wiki/index.php?title=P4AU/Tohru_Adachi
  8. Sin is pretty good. He's like one of the most used characters in SoCal. Land CH Beak Driver, win the match immediately :V Elph is also a really good beginner character. She has good normals and all you have to worry about to start playing her is landing a knockdown, then tossing a grenade at them and mashing buttons. Buhridahl Exupressu. Yo. Who else is planning on going to Evo and/or competing this year? If you're interested at all in fighting games it's so worth going. 2015 was my first Evo and I met so many cool people! Do you play Xrd on PS3 or 4? It's on sale for like $15 on the PS4. Also, anyone get DFCI? Looks kinda cool but not into anime fighters so much, to hard. --- On a side note the SFV beta is lit. Chun-li and Cammy look amazing, it get's me so hyped. Either PS3/PS4 Xrd actually; I have two copies of the game. It's cross platform but PS3 is the offline standard since most people don't have PS4 sticks still. I end up playing that copy the most. Also, I got the first DFC when it came out and didn't have much fun with it. IMO the game feels clunky and just not very fun to play, which is a shame considering how neat the roster is. They have Kino from Kino no Tabi as an assist--I was so ready to love that game and I ended up hating it. The universal guard point overhead carried everyone for the first week when it came out. Everyone ended up mashing it on wake up lmao. I've heard they fixed some of the problems for Ignition but I haven't gotten a chance to play it to find out. Nitro+ Blasterz is a more enjoyable silly anime fighter, even though Saya of Saya no Uta is a pain to fight :l

  10. Shadow characters are legal in tournament and online. They're just usually not the most viable. The only good shadows in this version are Chie, Mitsuru, Naoto, and Narukami/Akihiko somewhat. They're more offensive focused, so they don't have access to burst/awakening mode but they build a lot more meter and have "Shadow frenzy" where they can chain special moves into special moves for lots of damage. Also Guilty Gear Xrd coming out for PC in two days is nutty. I'm excited to see what new players it brings into the scene! Too bad my computer is too crappy to run it; I'll have to stick to console version orz
  11. If you haven't added me on PSN yet, go ahead @ Zotbuster. I netplay P4AU from time to time, but most of my practice is offline at casuals/tournaments. It's my favorite fighting game so I'm always eager to see new people learn how to play I might not be able to for a few weeks since it's a christmas present, and the person buying it is pretty adamant about giving it to me on christmas. But yeah I have always wanted to check it out, though i'm sure i'll never be good at it. Don't know who i'm going to play, either.. Don't discourage yourself from getting good! I started playing Ultimax (and fighting games in general, since it was my first one) when it launched last September, and within 9 months I made Quarter-finals at Evo. With the third worst character in the game. Persona is super beginner friendly, so as long as you practice and have fun you can improve really quickly. What archetypes do you typically gravitate towards? (shoto/rushdown/zoning/grappler etc. etc.) I generally like to play rushdown characters, like Makoto in USF4. Never really cared for shoto's, just too boring for me personally. I also absolutely suck with charge characters, because I cannot for the life of me charge buffer consistently on a controller. Grapplers and zoning characters are also really fun too, though grapplers generally have some pretty wonky inputs that I have trouble doing on a controller. The nice thing about Persona is that all the inputs are super simple. The only motions in the game are quarter circles. (Special moves are one quarter circle, supers are two quarter circles). That means the input for Kanji's command grab is quarter circle back instead of like, a 360 or potbuster motion. Chie, Sho, and Marie/Labrys/Akihiko sort of are rushdown characters. Kanji is the mainstay grappler, and Minazuki and Adachi land somewhere in between rushdown and grappler. If you wanted to learn Kanji I could send you the tutorial I wrote lol
