  1. Sorry if I have been away for so long. Haven't had time to visit. I am looking for a VN called Eden* They were only two on the planet. I can't seem to find it among the VNs that are downloadable here. I heard the company that did it now works for Manga gamer. Is there anywhere where I can download it or is it officially dead?

  2. Thanks to Aaeru's post, I just received two VN-themed mouse pads straight from Hong Kong : ). If you're bummed about the cheap gear/free shipping, don't despair! Sign up for their mailing list and you'll get similar offers all the time.

+17 XP (each) to the person who first identifies the VN

    The disabled woman VN.

The man who got ketchup on his clothes and had to spend all day at the laundry mat to get it out. Fun VN. Really simulated the long wait times and the different types of people you meet at a laundry mat.

  3. Like Crosbie Fitch always says, "Sell Music. Don't Sell Copies."

There is no good reason (given the format) to be selling you 'the-service-of-printing-you-a-copy', when that very same is being provided by another print shop down the road... for absolutely free! The printing service has been devalued to the price of 0.001 cent. however these services never reach $0. They always involve some costs. The other printing shops still have to pay for their own servers.

It is their business. It is the artists' business, nobody else's business, to find a way to produce valuable things for society so that they can sustain their own lives. It is not the business of the customers to solve their problems for them. That's called getting economics backwards.

Competing in a free market means providing a valuable service that people will be willing to pay money for. And that may-or-may-not necessarily be the service of printing people copies (not to be confused with the service of creating new arts).

When you purchase a game on steam, you are not purchasing the game (which is a packet of 2-4GB files) so much as you are purchasing the convenience of being able to make quick, cheap purchases, the convenience of being able to access it all the time, the convenience of having support, and having online multiplayer, and the convenience of having ALL your other games and ALL your friends on it.

In 21st century internet, sell things like convenience, like personalization, like recommendation, like findability, like patronage. http://www.kk.org/thetechnium/archives/2008/01/better_than_fre.php

How many cents in my dollar goes to the Japanese studio that made the game?

Uhh. You don't even tell me that.

Then what are you selling me? You're selling me guess-work patronage.

Unless they get over that obsolete 20th century mentality of selling printing services (thanks to protectionist copyright monopoly grants from the government that screws lateral thinking), what place will they have expanding to the West in 21st century internet?

That's why I say, "Sell Visual Novels. Don't sell copies."

    /end rant

Valve(Steam owners) and CD Projekt Red(Good Old Games owners) seem to be the only two companies that care about their customers though, especially CD Projekt Red. They hate DRM and don't use it in any of their games. They even gave people a free upgrade of The Witcher 2: Enhanced Edition if people still had and inputted their Witcher 2 CD Key. Valve likes to give away a lot of the DLC they make for free. Plus, Steam sales are awesome. Getting a $40.00 game for $10.00 is a great deal. They are the only two developers that really deserve to earn a profit. I don't pirate games though. Mainly because unlike VNs or Anime. Video games seem to be much higher on risk factor and I am worried I will get caught pirating a game.

If I become an author I would like to get paid for my works. I will do what Neil Gaiman did and do my best to convince the publisher I sign with to distribute copies of my book for free but I still want to earn money on my books that get sold.

  4. Last time I was in Japan, my wife and I went to the Tokyo International Anime Fair. Ended up spending a shitton of money but got a bunch of stuff.

Ill take some pics of my collection and post it later on. 20+ years collecting and no plans to stop.

Oh by the way, my wife cosplayed as Belldandy. Sooo sexy. I keep trying to get her to do that around the house, so far no luck!!

    Role-play night.

Also, who is Belldandy and what is she from?

  5. Instead of quoting all the questions, I'll answer them in one beautiful post. I absolutely love the Persona series and I'm playing P2 Innocent Sin right now (or on and off more like). I havent gotten into other SMT games much (4-5 hours into Nocturne, 20 into Devil Summoner) thanks to BF3 among many other games. On Katawa Shuojo I have done Emi's arc and Rin's arc. I really really loved Rin's story as it was much deeper than Emi's. With Ever 17, its just so mysterious. When I play, I can't stop because I want to know everything. Thanks for the welcome guys. I'm sure you'll see me around asking noobish questions before too long. Final thing, to whoever makes the Bruce Wayne dating sim, I will give you my bank account. That is all.

Emi's route is pretty good. I have not done Rin's yet. I have only done Emi's and Hanako's and i am in the middle of Shizune's right now.

I am simultaneously terrified and excited at the prospect of a Bruce Wayne dating sim...Anyways, welcome to Fuwa! Enjoy your time here!

I suppose dating people like Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy would be pretty terrifying.
  6. Hey everyone, I'm solidbatman. I'm pretty new to visual novels only having played a couple Katawa Shuojo arcs and Analogue: A Hate Story. I'm currently playing through the arcs of Ever 17 at the moment. I'm a pretty big anime and JRPG fan. Also, I'm an avid Battlefield 3 (consololol) player. Lastly, Batman is awesome.

Welcome. Happy to have you here.

That is basically how I got into VNs as well. Bought Analogue and then played Katawa Shoujo. What KS routes have you played and did you like them? I need to play Ever17. Ever play the Persona games? They are pretty good. Which animes do you like? Yes, Batman is pretty awesome. I would love to see a Bruce Wayne dating sim.

I like your Naked Snake avatar.

  7. Before I start, (not so) sorry about the misleading title because that's actually a very manly tee-hee.

GUUTO DEI! or well.. it's actually nighttime here. My name is 俁E(Jun) or I am also known as "EroJun" or else "EroJunko" around various places, including Twitter: https://twitter.com/EroJunko

It was probably one of my more talkative days when I suddenly took an interest into AaeruねえちめE's renewed forums for Fuwanovel. If I recall correctly, this was pretty close to Fuwanovel's transition from beta to now. (Like, the updates were running hot yo)

I've started playing VNs about 4 - 5 years ago, including 18+ ones not too long after I played my first VN: Chaos;Head. (Kids these days)

My favorite kind of VNs are something along the lines of VNs like G-senjou no maou, Kara no Shoujo, Kikokugai, Saya no Uta, Steins;Gate. Of all those VNs it would probably be Kara no Shoujo that really hit the spot since it's the only game with a decent length that I fully cleared without really taking long breaks. (Though I suffered brain damage after finishing it, if you know what I mean lol)

I've also played VNs, to name a few such as Sengoku Rance, Sharin no Kuni, Osananajimi wa Daitouryou, School Days HQ, Kamidori Alchemy Meister, Eien no Aselia, Little Busters!

There have also been times when I play eroge (Oh I said eroge instead of VNs this time.. I'm really used to saying eroge instead) in Japanese, which are usually nukige since those are generally easier to read.

In this thread I posted some pictures and links to some goodies I bought for my hobbies, and a short video of my cats :D/>

Hobbies among playing VNs also includes watching anime, reading manga, playing games other than VNs, rambling like this and singing. (especially vocaloid songs)

I'll be looking forward to reading and participating in more forum topics in the near future!

My kanojooooooo is telling me to go to bed.

I like your avatar. Kara No Shoujo and Saya No Uta are really good. I need to finish them. I like School Days too.

  8. Thanks eclipsezero! Harvest Moon for me.

I have played the Harvest Moon games before. I utterly sucked at the farming portion of them. It didn't help that I was 13 at the time and didn't know how to play Harvest Moon.

I would love to get the PS1 game again and play it just to see if I could beat it.

  9. Yes and no. In a romantic VN I do believe that romance is necessary like it is necessary in a romance novel as well, since that is what the story is about. I don't believe romance is necessary for all VNs or literature though. In my opinion romance seems to be used as a crutch at times to make people care about what will happen to the protagonist and the other characters when the author/developers don't want to work that hard on developing their characters.

I like romance when it is done well and the characters are developed and you know they are right for each other. I hate romance when it isn't done well and when the characters are blank as is their chemistry together.
