  1. Agehas route was basically remade from the ground up because the sex is a huge part of it. Which I am sad about, since Ageha is the most human and seems to be the most fleshed out character amongst the cast.

Someone needs to tell the poor suckers who bought this game about this. I'm sure that a bunch of people bought it without even thinking about what's missing (or noticing).

Seriously, use twitter, facebook, tumblr, whatever... Just tell people that they're being screwed over and called morons.

i find it funny that still after everything being said everywhere, they haven't done an official statement on this issue

They probably can't handle the possibility that they screwed up.

  2. Remove ero... fine...

But removing stuff like sex jokes? Kissing? I think that's going a wee bit too far. I mean, c'mon, might as well change all the characters' names to English names. Oh, and while you're at it, remove any reference to Japanese culture.

These guys are becoming the 4kids of VNs. Initially, I had hoped that they'd somewhat succeed, but they're crossing the line in the sand now... I want nothing more than to see them disappear now. I can't believe the original developers actually agreed to this censorship.

Let me say something: if you can't handle shit like kissing or sex jokes in your fictional story, then you should probably go look for something else. Censorship is insulting not just to the original creators, but also to your viewers. You're basically calling them morons. It's like trying to add sugar to your rice because you don't like salty food. Why don't you go eat some chocolate, then?

  3. I'll join this discussion properly later as I need to go to bed, but I'm just going to say that my ideal VN needs two things:

    - Lots of Dudeness and good ol' wisdom.

    - Polyamory. If you follow me on twitter you will know that I have made this statement there before. Since I'm not monogamous, getting into VNs that have romance as the main focus becomes excruciatingly difficult to me (though I do manage to do it at one point).

And yeah, I know there are plenty of VNs out there with harem endings, and I guess that's already SOMETHING... But those are almost all nukige, which just isn't as much fun. Also, it'd be nice if the girls would also get other boyfriends, because I feel that a single guy getting all the girls in the story can feel... kinda sexist. There's nothing wrong with pretty ladies having multiple relationships.

  4. To be honest, it's all subjective. Opinions vary about what genre is best. I have a wide variety of genres that I like. I love a good slice of life show just as much as a good comedy. It's all subjective. My opinion of an epic show will be different from say, Eldin. Does that mean I'm right? Lol probably not.

I agree with you completely. Having been studying literature, I realized that our tastes change historically. I believe that what exactly we judge as an impactful piece of fiction varies greatly not just from person to person, but also from era to era. Hell, for all I know, if a Baroque poet time traveled to our era, he might've said that Milky Holmes is the greatest work ever conceived in the face of this planet (just an example...)

  5. Shirou was quite blatantly sexist. How else do you interpret "I have to protect Saber because she's a girl". That said, it's clearly illustrated that his beliefs are arbitrary and stupid. The game itself isn't particularly sexist.

I don't remember exactly how the story went, but I think it was because Shiro felt it was his duty to protect others.

  6. I would say for a basic game you need:

Idea - Easy enough to get

Programmer/Developer - To make the game

    Graphics - Something to see

    Audio - Something to hear

Probably need more as the game gets more complicated

No reason a single person can't do all of this. See Blendo Games who made Gravity Bone and Atom Zombie Smasher.

    Let's not forget Cave Story.

  7. I'm not too well versed in this, but I supposed you would at least need a programmer, an artist, a level designer, a scenario writer, and someone in charge of promoting your game, perhaps...

You could just look at the credits for Doom. If applied to today's standards, it's pretty much an indie game (and really, the guys over at Id really were a bunch of dudes with nothing to do and who really liked video games).

  8. Fate route in FSN. The sexism was bothering me, Saber is an insanely bland heroine IMO and the whole thing was just painfully boring to read. UBW made up for it, but still...

Afterwards I tried reading the HF route as well but dropped it halfway through due to boredom. I guess Type Moon stuff is just really not my thing. Ironically, I thought Fate/zero was awesome, turns out it wasn't written by Nasu. Surprise surprise.

I never interpreted Shirou's behavior during Fate route as sexism. Seems like he was just being overprotective.

  9. Risa x Miya route is my favorite. I like how they developed feelings to each other.

They're one of my favorite couples now. They were very well developed, and without too much melodrama. The ichaicha was dericious too.

On an unrelated note, I am having mixed feelings about Miu's route in D-R. It's not bad, but she's just too damn jealous. Really puts me down, considering I'm not into the whole monogamy thing.

    I gotta say though...

The scene on the research facility during 6-5 reminded me a lot of Tsukihime, particularly the "ThischairThischairThischairThischairThischairThischairThischairThischairThischairThischair" part.

  10. Just my two cents.

Psycho-Pass was freaking amazing, but the majority of people seem to prefer more shounen-esque shows like Naruto, One Piece, ect. (Shingeki and SAO fit here too).

That's because they're mainstream anime. The kind of anime we watch have a very limited target audience even in Japan.

Also, I don't think Shingeki should be grouped with Naruto and One Piece, since, as far as I know, it really feels more like a Seinen then anything (yeah yeah, I know it's published in a shonen magazine...). Its themes are very thought-provoking and the world is very detailed and rich, so I believe it walks hand-in-hand with FMA and Evangelion. Same goes for Psycho-pass.

  11. Anyone else dissapointed (well those who have read the LN) how this anime has been progressing? It feels jumbled and really seems to have lost the impact it had in the first few episodes.

    Thoughts?

I have only read a few chapters of the LN, but I haven't felt this at all. In fact, I really like the way this has been going. It seems consistent.

However, I do believe that the creators said that they will include a ton of deleted scenes in the BD releases, which might include some of Shido's monologues.

Also, I really want this to have a second season. I want to see a conclusion to Kurumi's story. >:

  12. "Youth is a hoax. It's evil. People who make a big deal of their "youth" are just inviting trouble. They try to keep up with everything going on around them. For them, if there's something that's to do with their youth, they jump at it without a second thought. From normal daily life, to rebelling against the views of society. If you fall in with them, lies, secrets, failure, and even crime await you. But for them, it's just the spice of life. And if failure is also the mark of "youth", then isn't it ironic, that a person who has failed to make any friends, is also technically leading his "youth". Though I wonder if they'd agree. Everything runs on their schedule. Let me be clear: the people who enjoy their "youth" will eventually fall apart."

A wiser fella than I once said that whenever you win, you win. But whenever you lose, you also win. That is, you always gain something when you lose. A glass of water cannot be refilled unless it is emptied of its contents.

And as Alan Watts said, time is a constant, never ending Now.
