    Cross†Channel
        Summary
Gunjo Gakuen (Deep Blue School) is a facility designed to gather and isolate those students who got a high score on an adaptation exam (scoring high on this exam indicates that the student is less likely to be able to adapt to society) mandated by the government.   After a failed summer vacation with other members of the school's broadcasting club, Taichi Kurosu and some of the other club members return to the city, only to find that all living creatures within it except for the club members have completely vanished. In order to confirm the status of the outside world, Taichi decides to gather other club members to help Misato Miyasumi, the president of the broadcasting club, who is trying to set up a broadcasting antenna to contact any possible survivors.   Ending Guideline / Suggested Route Order   Cross Channel consists of a single ending and therefore there will be no replaying the game to get every single path. Instead the game repeats itself as you're progressing and you get to experience each heroine individually and then reach a true ending after all of their "routes" are done.  You will start off the game in what is known as "week one" where only one route is available. Making wrong choices will not give you a bad ending, it will merely make you repeat that week again and you may change your choices to attempt and get the heroine you want, hence why i will be omitting the Bad End section from this walkthrough. Regarding a suggested route order there isn't one as the game has a forced playing order to unlock each path.   Route Guideline     Miyasumi Misato

Continuation of my 2022 releases thread...
    ORIGINAL TLs

    Policewoman VX (April 2024) (PG-16)
    (Hacking by Alpharobo)

This very short game was included as a bonus with the first Rance. It has evolved a bit since, and from a text-only adventure, it became a full-fledged ADV, complete with CG and clickable menus, before being offered on the now defunct ALICE-NET BBS. It was a very quick project as it has barely 15 kb worth of text. Consider it a bonus to the AliceSoft porting project

    Download 1.0 here.
Night Slave (February 2024) (warning: adult content)
(Hacking by ValleyBell and Kirinn B.)

An awesome action game reminiscent of the Assault Suit series, but with lesbian sex scenes inbetween the missions. Has a surprisingly decent plot, great soundtrack an a pretty smooth gameplay considering, well, you're on PC-98. Had already been "translated" by Retronomicon but with a butchered script and a horrible hack relying on a custom font. This one is accurate to the original script, have translated graphics, and is fully real hardware compatible.

    Download 1.0 here.
Shangrlia 2 (October 2023) (Warning: adult content)
    (Hacking by tomyun and Alpharobo)

Another T-RPG by Elf. It's both beautiful and really challenging. I planned to do a simple menu patch, but the game is so great that I thought it deserved a full patch, despite the shitty writing ^^
    Download 1.1 here.
Exciting Milk (August 2023) (All ages)
(Hacking by Alpharobo and Kirinn B)

A short, 2-episode ADV game by Silence, with the same engine as Guynarock and Lime. Strong sentai vibes in this one. You get barely 20 minutes of gameplay out of the whole thing, but the animations are stellar.
    Download 1.0 here.
Jewel Bem Hunter Lime (August 2023) (PG12 - Expect a bit of fanservice)
(Hacking by Alpharobo & Kirinn B)

A collection of 12 short adventure games dealing with two demons trying to retrieve 6 power gems in order to save humanity from total destruction. These are pretty linear games, but have a gorgeous artstyle and excellent animations. And most of all, they're hilarious. Once again, Alpharobo made wonders in hacking the engine, and Kirinn B in hacking the graphics format.
    Download 1.0 here.
    SCRIPT PORTS
Rance III - The Fall of Leazas (April 2024) (Warning: Adult Content)
(Hacking by RottenBlock & Alpharobo - original script by Tulip Goddess Maria)

Huge step from the two previous games, with high production values and a way bigger world to explore. Arguably the first masterpiece of the series. This one required a lot more work than the previous ports, but nothing we couldn't handle

    Download 1.0 here

Toushin Toshi (February 2024) (Warning: Adult content)
(Hacking by RottenBlock & Alpharobo - original script by Arunaru)

Another ero-RPG, with a main character that's not as much as an asshole as Rance is. This is the last AliceSoft System 1.0 game that has an available English translation to port. Hacking was slightly more complicated than on the previous AliceSoft games, but as usual Alpharobo had no trouble figuring it out.

    Download 1.0 here.

Rance II - The Rebellious Maidens (January 2024) (Waring: Adult content)
(Hacking by RottenBlock & Alpharobo - original script by HGTP Translations)

Second game from the series, with more refined mechanics and better art and plot. The existing script has been reinserted, with a few edits and corrections here and there (mostly in chapter 6). The hacking is now complete, the most complicated stuff has once again been masterfully handled by Alphabrobo.

    Download 1.1 here.
Rance - Quest for Hikari (October 2023) (Warning: Adult content)
(Hacking by RottenBlock & Alpharobo - original script by HGTP Translations)

The infamous first game of the series. It's pretty short script, actually, but the data relocating process between the Windows and the PC-98 version made everything harder than in the previous AliceSoft projects. Nevertheless, it's now complete, so enjoy
    Download 1.1 here.

Little Vampire (October 2023) (All ages)
(Hacking by RottenBlock & Alpharobo - original script by RottenBlock)

Next step of the AliceSoft porting project. Original translation done by RottenBlock in 2020. The script is way better than the DPS one AND correctly formatted so it was done in a mere week.

    Download 1.1 here
D.P.S (Dream Program System) (October 2023) (Warning: fucked up adult content)
(Hacking by RottenBlock & Alpharobo - original script by velt211)

An early AliceSoft game that includes a virtual console and three games, each one corresponding to a different erotic scenario. Some elements were re-introduced in the Rance and Toushin Toshi series. Serves as a starting point for a bigger AliceSoft porting project. Original script has been massively edited to sound more natural and correct the most blatant derps, but it has not been retranslated from scratch.

Loved the game, played every route. My recommendation is to play the game with whatever heroine you want (I did Lesteena for instance first and foremost).
There are a few heroines that you can only do after NG+ but otherwise if the battles are an issue for you, you can just use a trainer to get through the "gameplay" aspect of it.
Most of the game is pretty linear with maybe 2ish hours worth of content related to heroines in specific, otherwise many share similar "routes" and only minor changes come from choosing them.
The recommended route is mainly just due to related plots diverging from the main heroine.
    Aselia->Esperia->Orpha->Uruka->Lesteena->Kyouko->Tokimi.
Aselia is the main heroine and relates to Esperia, Orpha, Uruka, the later three slightly diverge and maybe Orpha only having a bit more additional content related to her specific plot.
Lesteena is pretty separate from the above 4 so there isn't really a lose in playing hers (and after playing all the routes I personally still enjoyed hers the most but that's personal opinion).
Kyouko and Tokimi are NG+, the later was a good route and probably my second favourite next to lesteena.
Then there is of course the failed-to-get-heroines route and the bad route...
tl;dr choose whichever YOU personally like, you won't miss much, then if you want to go back and do the rest and if you dislike/annoyed by the gameplay, trainer it.
Don't care what anyone says Eien no Aselia is one of my favs.

H2O √ after and another Complete Story Edition

    Release
Download the patch (Google drive, Mediafire) (ver. 1.01, dated September 8, 2023)
    Description
In H2O -Footprints in the Sand-, Hirose Takuma is a blind middle school student, though the cause for his blindness is undetermined. After his mother died unexpectedly, it left a deep emotional scar on him, causing him to become lonely and reserved. Due to this, Takuma moves from the city out into a rural area to live with his uncle and Takuma is enrolled into a new middle school. There, he meets several new girls, including the firm and obstinate Kohinata Hayami, the kind and obliging Kagura Hinata, and the cheerful and mysterious Otoha.
In √ after and another, there are new after stories for two of the heroines from H2O (Hayami and Hinata), plus new routes for Yui and Hamaji/Yukiji, the latter of which also unlocks Maki's route.
A version merging both games into one was later released, H2O √ after and another Complete story Edition.
    H2O VNDB: https://vndb.org/v473
√ after and another VNDB: https://vndb.org/v561
    Where to purchase
The game can be purchased legally from DMM (https://dlsoft.dmm.co.jp/detail/mnphs_0007/), but a Japanese proxy/VPN may be necessary to purchase it. That is where I obtained my copy. It goes on sale quite often, although it's pretty cheap even at full price, considering its age.
    Project

The English localization project is being conducted by Studio Frisay, fresh off the completed Imasugu Onii-chan ni Imouto datte Iitai! project. As before I (Tooko) will be doing all of the translating and editing of the script, along with probably most of the image editing, and any engine work that needs to be done (of which is very little).
    Studio Frisay discord server
    Progress
Programming: The game is built on the BGI/Ethornell engine, as with Imaimo before it, so I'm already familiar with how the engine works and have all the resources necessary to apply any hacks and build the completed patch once everything is done. In fact, there's a lot less work this time around on that front because the structure is a lot simpler, being a NVL game instead of an ADV game.
Translation: The translation officially commenced on August 10, 2022 and was completed on January 28, 2023, although progress was initially very slow because of the ongoing work for the Imaimo patch at the time. However, I already translated a decent amount of the script (20%) by the time I announced the project a couple months later in October. The game has 73,547 lines across 167 scenario files split up between the common route and six character routes:
    Common: 6953 / 6953: 100%
    Hayami: 20620 / 20620: 100%
    Hinata: 14112 / 14112: 100%
    Yui: 13151 / 13151: 100%
    Hamaji: 4973 / 4973: 100%
    Maki: 5437 / 5437: 100%
    Otoha: 8301 / 8301: 100%
    Total: 73547 / 73547: 100%
Images and videos: Aside from minor tweaks, all of the in-game images in need of editing are now completed. Editing of images is shared between me and nReus, who will also be typesetting lyrics onto the 9 OP/ED videos. The images include about 110 for the UI, and about 335 for the rest of the game, although most of those are minor variations on each other, so the actual number of unique images is much less.
Editing: The editing of the game's text officially commenced on February 10, 2023, and it was completed on July 10, 2023.
QC: The quality check phase involves going through a normal playthrough to check for any problems with the patch files and their rendering. This should took about two months, completing in early September. The patch is scheduled for release on September 8, 21:00 UTC.

Mad that you attempted to play this game but you were put off by a few things!?
Mad cuz there is not one media player which has all the neccessary functions?
Mad that sub titles aren't appearing/synching properly with certain media players?
Mad that theres no optimal playback forcing you to read over everything again?

WELL GUESS WHAT PUNK I GOT SOMETHING FOR YOU TO KNOW!
So i pretty much found a website where someone had actually explained how to play Phantom of Inferno without any major problems however its so god damn hard to find on google without spoiling yourself you would have to literally dedicate yourself to find answers (unless you stared through the same scenes over again in which case i am no masochist).
So pretty much i simplifyed his guide through my own testings despite the fact that its not even complicated any who and that i am no expert with codecs and such but things just make sense when you put it together.
Shout outs to Suicide Victim ... http://imaginedpoetry.blogspot.co.uk/2009/12/running-phantom-of-inferno-in-mpc.html?zx=f9b27172d18e6851 Those "Mad" sentences i put at the top are typically the common problems you will find if you try and play the game straight off the bat. MPC player allowed playback but failed to show the sub titles throughout the whole DVD. Any Power DVD software synchronises the subtitles properly but unfortunately the playback seems to be somewhat crappy and unreponsive. And because the game itself is a DVD you realistically don't want to wait trying to get another ending especially because there ARE choice texts in this game. SO WHAT ARE WE GONNA DO ABOUT IT!?
We are simply going to put the two together! It's very simple. We are going to steal Power DVD codecs, add them to MPC player and BOOM! You got yourself PLAYBACK and SUB TITLES!
You can use these pictures as a guideline http://imgur.com/a/sojxw
    Step 1
You need to install the following:
MPC-HC 32-Bit Power DVD 9 MPC player must be 32-Bit and at all times when playing because Power DVD 9 is a 32-Bit program (Meaning that the codecs we are going to be using will only go through as 32-Bit Duhhh). The good news is that you don't have to pay for anything apart from the game from wherever the hell you got it. You can download both of these programs from legitimate sites which i will put below.
    http://www.geforce.com/games-applications/pc-applications/powerdvd_9
    https://mpc-hc.org/downloads/
You can go through the installation like any other program. Just watch out for any Ads and just leave everything as default. You can even try and play the game in Power DVD 9 and see that there is no playback availability and on MPC the sub titles are not synched correctly. Power DVD 9 is a trial and that is perfectly fine as we don't even need to use it. We just need the files on our PC thats all.
    Step 2
We are nearly there now. On this step we need to simply place some codecs on our external filter so...
Open up MPC-HC and go to VIEW > OPTIONS.
Go to EXTERNAL FILTERS and select ADD FILTER.
On this section locate the following and press okay.
CyberLink Video/SP Decoder (PDVD9) Microsoft MPEG-2 Video Decoder MPC - MPEG-2 Video Decoder (Gabest) If you are unable to find the last two (Microsoft and MPC) then don't worry about it because on my PC i only had Cyberlink. If you do have them make sure you select it as worded above (On his guide he had those so i put here just to be safe than sorry).
Do the following for each one.
CyberLink Video/SP Decoder (PDVD9) - PREFER Microsoft MPEG-2 Video Decoder - BLOCK MPC - MPEG-2 Video Decoder (Gabest) - BLOCK Apply it and now open Phantom of Inferno by whatever method you are using. I have an image file of the game and i mounted it using Daemon Tools Lite. Most likely you will select FILE > OPEN DISC > PHANTOMDVD.
When the DVD loads right click any space, FILTERS > CyberLink Video/SP Decoder (PDVD9).
In the window look for Miscellaneous and UNCHECK DxVA.
Apply it, close down your MPC player and get ready for the next section as it gets a bit more complicated from here.
    Step 3
Open MPC-HC and open up Phantom of Inferno.
    ...
    CONGRATULATIONS
You can now play this game with synchronised sub titles and the ability to slide through the time bar and use playback settings.
    What you should know!?
You probably won't touch the playback until you get your first ending so don't even bother fiddling around with it until then. Create favourites as a save point instead of the Password system (unless you want to play super casual). You can name them to help you get through. If you saved a favourite half way in a scene and return to it, it may go black and only audio will be present. To fix this simply remember the time it was on and roll it back to the beginning of that scene (this causes it to refresh) and now drag it back to the time you was on. Note that you can't abuse the play back because... Im not too sure why, just treat the slider gently and if you mess up just refresh the chapter by dragging it back to 00:00. This happened quite a lot to me. It gets pretty finicky on scenes that are like 20-30 minutes long so you have to be patient if you are trying to get to a certain time.  If you are using MPC-HC for other media files and you feel that its causing problems to it just remove the items in the filter. Or you could just use your 64-Bit MPC-HC. I don't think this just applies to Phantom of Inferno but for any other interactive DVD game which has common problems like this. It's worth keeping hold of it! Don't you dare touch the navigation and select chapters. The favourites cover this for you if you are using them. If you end up using navigation you could potentially spoil yourself and enter another route. Mess around with the Video Frame settings to your preference. Hope this guide helped you out. I finished this yesterday and i absolutely loved it. I don't want anyone to go through the trouble of not playing the game because of media players and other bullshit.
If there are any problems please let me know i will try my best and help you but as i said i'm no expert about these things. If there is someone else who could help explain things that would be great!
May be editing this randomly or when i'm bored.

rax reacted to ChaosRaven in Why Aren’t There MORE Visual Novel Translations? - A Meta Analysis
Well, there are certainly still a lot of problems. Unlike computer games, VN's get barely any media coverage. And there are usually no standout lighthouse titles that could expand the scene. We still rely on the occasional oddball like Nekopara or Doki Doki that for some reason manage to get more attention. And due to their explicit content, they are usually more difficult to talk about wih other people.
And selling those titles is still a problem. While it's easier on Steam than in the past, many titles have to split the adult content into a separate patch or don't make it at all on Steam. And not everyone likes buying incomplete versions that require additional patches. And in addition to that, there are 'regional restrictions' *sigh*. German Steam blocks every adult VN by default for years now that can be bought in the US and other countries without problems. Sometimes even if the adult content is split into a separate patch for whatever reason. Like Hatsuru Koto Naki Mirai Yori for example. I'd really like to buy it, but since it's only available on Steam and Steam blocks it in Germany, the only way I could get it, would have to be to pirate it.
Another problem is that VN's usually are a significant time investment. So, many people probably won't buy more than they can read. Other than me who still buys almost everything I just want to read at some time, leading to an ever growing backlog.
On the other hand I'm kinda positvely suprised how many VN's we are actually getting in the west. Thanks to strong newcomers Nekonyan and Shiravune (relative to MangaGamer, Jast and Sekai at least) in particular, we do get a decent number of titles translated. And we actually do get a lot of the good ones.
What the publishers could definitely do to improve the situation, is to improve the shopping front. An English Getchu variant where I could get ALL titles would be great. Nekonyan at least sells their titles also on MangaGamer, but Frontwing sticks to Steam and if Steams blocks the title in my country, I just can't get it. I'm also unhappy with Shiravune's Johren which feels unnecessary complicated in almost every way. I couldn't even find a way to filter out untranslated VN's when browsing titles. And the one title I once bought made my Windows Defender go crazy.
I also see AI translations as a great opportunity and unlike others, I see it as a great way to make work easier for translators and not as a threat to them.

    Hello people,
just a small thread to advertise my released PC-98 translation projects from this year, as I know some of you might be interested.
I've compiled everything into a single thread to avoid spamming the board ^^
Included is the age rating and eventual content warnings so you know what to expect.
All games are fully playable on real hardware and emulators alike.
    ORIGINAL TL
Holy Girl Force Lakers II (November 2022) (Warning: Adult Content)

Sequel to the first game, and a huge step up from it. Better graphics, harder challenge, cheesier story, more variety in ennemies and available strategies. One of my personal PC-98 favorites.
Everything's translated so far. The cherry on the top is that half a chapter that was missing from the game because of an error has been restored, too!
    Download 1.1 here.
Guynarock 2 (November 2022) (Warning: Nudity and body horror, not recommended under 16)

A translation project by Alpharobo I've been helping with. A short VN in a horror sci-fi setting, with awesome artstyle. The developers and artists would later become famous for the Viper series.
    Download 0.99 here.
Holy Girl Force Lakers (May 2022) (Warning: Adult Content)

Cult classic T-RPG with an awesome art direction, cool music, and an awesome sentai-meets-magical-girls like atmosphere. Oh, it also has some interactive sex scenes. Replaces the menu-only version I published last year.
    Download 1.1 here.
Run Run Concerto (March 2022) (Warning: Adult Content)

An early Elf action game, reminiscent of some very primitive version of Deshing Desperadoes. Except you lead a female runner team and there is a bit of strategy and resource-management involved (not to mention pathfinding for the later levels). Notable for being one of the few eroge that can actually be played in competitive 2 player mode.

FOXY (February 2022) (Warning : Adult content)

An early strategy game by legendary eroge publisher Elf. Not their best work, but an interesting piece of history.

SCRIPT BACKPORTS (DOS or Windows to PC-98)
Amy's Fantasies (December 2022) (Warning: really fucked up adult content)

The infamous Hiroyuki Kanno unmarketable porn VN he did to troll C's Ware, his editor at the time. It's a pretty disgusting game, but it's so (intentionally) dumb that it manages to be hilarious at the same time.

Being a script port of the Himeya Soft Windows version, and with ready-to-use powerful editing tools at my disposal, it was a pretty quick project. The longest part was editing the graphics, then there was only 6-7% of untranslated or very mangled text I had to edit.

    Download 1.0 here.
Jast Memorial Collection (November 2022) (Warning: Adult Content)

The official English JAST USA translations ported from the MS-DOS to the PC-98 version. Includes a brand new title screen for Season of the Sakura and uncensored CG for Runaway City for the very first time on PC-98!
    Download 1.0 here.
YU-NO: A Girl that Chants Love from the Edge of the World (December 2021) (Warning : Adult content)

One of the most influential VNs of the 90's and Elf's most famous work. Based upon TLWiki's translation of the Windows version.

I've also published menu patches for Sei Shoujo Sentai Lakers III (adult content) and Tamashi no Mon: Dante no Shinkyoku yori (all ages)
They're not quite as polished as my later works, but at last they can help you if you want to play these games and don't know any japanese. They both come with a full walkthrough.

rax reacted to Denpa Archivist in Shizuku [Leaf, for PC-98] and Jisatsu no Tame no 101 no Houhou (Duke, for Windows 98/Me/2000) English TL Project
Hello. I'm a translator that is currently archiving denpa content of interest (visual novels, manga, novels, plays, etc). Recently I've been translating scripts for Jisatsu 101 and Shizuku. I'd like to patch both games with an English TL, both for archiving purposes and for fun. I was so determined to patch the games myself that I dug through all sorts of forum posts and tutorials on text extraction/encoding but I haven't had any success.
I'm looking for a programmer that would be able to extract Japanese texts and reinsert translated English text. I'm perfectly happy to do all the programming myselfー I just need to know how to do it. All I need are specific tutorials that work on my copies of both games. If you're interested, please send me a message and I'll share my copies of the games with you for testing. Thank you.

    General Information
    VNDB : https://vndb.org/v28160

Hoshi Ori Yume Mirai - Rikka to Anata no 1-Shuunen Kinen, Icha Love Birthday is a very short fandisc that takes place between Rikka's school route and after route in Hoshi Ori Yume Mirai. The fandisc unfortunately does not come with voice acting. Despite that, I think it captures the essence of Hoshi Ori Yume Mirai perfectly given it's short length.

For such a popular VN, I'm surprised that barely anyone noticed that it has this small fandisc accompanying it. Even when restricted with language barriers, the work is free, extremely short, but the VNDB vote count is extremely low (7 votes at the time of writing). I thought that I could give something back to it, after being completely engrossed by Hoshi Ori Yume Mirai. And so, a small passion project was born.

This will be the first time that I have done any translation for fictional works, much less in digital form. A programmer I am not, there are some things that I just can't be bothered to fix in this release (removing the character limit when rewriting names). With this limited experience, there will be the possibility of unnoticed errors or shortcomings in this release. Any pointers or constructive criticisms regarding the release would be appreciated.

I also have added the SD art for all the 6 girls extracted from Hoshi Ori as a little extra bonus. With that said, I have to humbly disagree with any opinion that does not think 0003 is the best girl.

Also thank you to Tsurezure Scans for giving the permission to use their assets.

You can download the .zip file here. It requires AlphaROMdiE to run (included in the .zip). Drag SiglusEngine.exe to AlphaROMdiE.exe and you're good to go. The system locale should be set into Japanese; I cannot guarantee that it would work without having this setting.

    Summary
The protagonist is a trainee teacher who commutes to a certain girls' school.
Safely finishing the daily practice period, and becoming a regular teacher is his goal.
However, his mind begins to tire.
Uneasiness and nightmares come in sudden attacks, causing a strain, a social phobia, begins to grow more and more every day.
Slowly a fear of the girls he meets with after school begins to emerge, yet at the same time, a desire and passion.
Disgust, a kind of taboo, such a feeling is directed to the adult women who are his colleagues.
"Am I really fit to be a teacher?"
Day by day, the pressure builds.
Even when the lessons are over, the lights are off, and the school is closed for another night.
    He cannot help but wander.
Ending Guideline / Suggested Route Order

You can play the routes in whatever order you wish. There is no true route. The route you go on is mainly determined by who you visit with the most, although there are occasional choices. With enough trial and error you can probably get through this without much difficulty, but I decided to make this walkthrough anyways. I hope it is useful.

rax reacted to Koyomi_ in Hello there. Introducing myself, I guess.
Hi, everyone. Although I created this account last year, I guess you could say I'm new as well. I just didn't bother to use it until now.
I speak Spanish, English and Japanese (I only started studying two years ago though, so i'm not THAT good yet) and although I technically started playing visual novels in 2014, I only started to gain more interest in the medium around 2019.
Some of my favorite visual novels are Sakura no Uta, Kara no Shoujo, Totono, Danganronpa V3, Muv-Luv, Chaos;Child, SubaHibi and Sumaga. I'm also playing Muramasa right now and it's very good as well.
I really like onee-san or senpai type heroines, my favorite genres would be Utsuge and Denpa and I'm a big fan of Nitroplus and Makura's catalogue. I'm interesed in Innocent Grey, Leaf and Liarsoft as well.
My current favorite artists are NamanikuATK, Sugina Miki, Motoyon, Inugami Kira, Ooishi Ryuuko and Kannuki Yoake/Amamura Kekka.
I do a few translation/QC things from time to time, as well as image and video editing (Mostly subtitles and/or karaokes). I also draw sometimes, although I haven't done so recently.

The Visual Novel Monthly Recap for August 2021 is out! Naturally, Muramasa is the absolute biggest announcement, it caused a temp JAST server overload. There were quite a handful of notable releases of a fantranslation and a notable remake of a classic.

I'm not familiar with this game, but usually VNs have more than one ending (except the so-called "kinetic novels"). If you're in doubt, it's best to search for a walkthrough/guide.
