    Haha. That would mean the English that machine translators generated is not hard to understand at all.

    English is not my first language doesn't mean that I don't understand English. It's true that I don't know Japanese, but based on what I've known about the game and how logical the machine translation sounds, I think that it's pretty good. 

    Well, you can test them for yourself. It's just my opinion and my experiences using these machine translators.

    For people that used to rely on Google Translate and a Text hooker to play their favorite game, these machine translators are a much better choice. I'd rather use decent machine translators to play a Japanese game than wait for the day when it will be localized (which I know it won't happen any time soon.) I just want to help people that are the same as me.

    Today I want to show you how machine translators have evolved in recent months.

    Here is a Video of Shuuen no Virche ~ErroR:Salvation~ Prologue, entirely done by machine translation (and 10% of human edits):

    This English version is created using these Machine Translators:

    The translation is entirely done by the above machine translators. I only edit here and there (maybe about 10%) per 100 lines. English is not my first language and I don't know any Japanese, but I can understand 90% of the game using machine translation.

    Shuuen no Virche ~ErroR:Salvation~ is an otome game developed and published by Otomate/Idea Factory for the Nintendo Switch.

    Edit: To be specific, the need to utilize Cheat Engine is annoying to the extreme, if only because I have to fight off my antivirus while it is working.

    Edit2: The main reason I was curious was to see if the Steam version of the Silverio series could be hooked using it.  However, I tested it with another game first, and it annoyed the hell out of me as I did.  While all text hookers are somewhat obtrusive, this one requires way too much work to set up, unless you intend to just leave your pc on until you've finished the game, which is impractical sometimes.   In the future, the maker should think about integrating the search function instead of outsourcing it to Cheat Engine and its fellows, which are almost all labeled as malware by standard antivirus programs (thus necessitating even more workarounds and making exceptions).

    Edit3: The answer is no, it doesn't work.  Apparently the heavy DRM issue from Steam and DMM is universal for prevent

    The main feature of the program is using javascript to hook the text of the game you want, the cheat engine method is only for ppl w/ zero programming experience.

    For me, I'm grateful for this bc it can hook text from emulators as well.

    It does work, idk abt drm games but it works on pretty much all games. Please don't say that it doesn't work.

  4. Here's a demo video of a new text hooker/visual novel translator named Agent, developed by [DC] (Otogelib's main programmer and romhacker). With this tool, you can pretty much read every Japanese visual novel/otome game on any platform using machine translation. It works with emulators like PPSSPP/Yuzu and of course normal PC Games etc...

    You can code your own script for it to support the game you want.

    Hakuouki SSL English Patch Release!

    It’s finally here – on this White Day, the Hakuo Gakuen team is proud to present: an English patch of Hakuouki SSL!

    We wouldn’t have thought that, over half a year ago, we would be able to bring the entirety of the game’s story into English and have it be playable on a PS Vita. But as we steadily made progress on translating the vast number of scripts in the game, eventually getting working versions of the patch on our own Vitas for testing, it became clearer and clearer to us that we were going to bring something exciting to the table for otome game fans everywhere.

    There are countless many people we’re thankful for – translators, proofreaders, and beta testers alike – all without whom none of this would have been made possible. And, above all, for the fans who have always wondered what goes on in this happy-go-lucky world of Hakuouki SSL, and newcomers who are curious as to what is even going on here – this one’s for you!

I have the Ghidra tool already and I will scour the Pucelle page again to see if I can get any tips on figuring that out. Unfortunately, I can't test it or work with the font unless the files are decrypted (I just popped open the ones on the site and they still look like gibberish. Might be the wrong encoding, I haven't checked yet). For now, I will just continue dumping and translating the files and collect them into a master document. Then, I can worry about the rest later.     By the way, we've asked the translator originally translated approximately 3 routes of Kamigami (here: https://sweetremiks-blog.tumblr.com/kamiaso), and they gave us permission. We can use their translation for a fan translation patch if you want, as long as we properly credit them! :)

My biggest concern when I was going through the debugger was that I saw some data that suggested fixed width, but I couldn't find the script files to confirm it. I guess I can try and play around with it a bit. Out of curiosity, which .dat files were they in?

     

    Edit: If possible, could you elaborate further on what you mean by "used the PSP debugger and Ghidra?" I plan to continue working on this, but I can't do that without the decrypted files.

    I would love to tell you more but unfortunately, I'm not the hacker so I don't quite understand what he did, I only tell you what he told me several months ago.

    Maybe you can try these tools and see if it works?

  8. Our hacker looked at the game's script, they're in .dat files and you can use this tool to extract the script file (,NISPACK): https://github.com/tonypolik/nispack
    But the scripts are encrypted, and our hacker needed to use PPPSSPP debugger to be able to decrypt the texts, as far as I know, they're encrypted with MIPS and he had to use PPSSPP's debugger and NSA's ghidra to decrypt the texts.

    But the real problem is the font. It doesn't support variable width, it's a fixed width font, so you need to convert all the latin character to their full-width counterparts for the game to display them correctly. But still, it will be displayed l i k e t h i s  i n t h e  g a m e.

    Unless someone's going to rewrite the font for it to support variable width or half-width, I don't think it's possible to translate this game.
