True story, I remember talking to some guy in an izayaka and some how the topic of VNs came up. He had only read a couple, but among them was Katawa Shoujo. So I can confirm, Katawa Shoujo is even well respected in Japan.

Lmao and the only Western VN to make a mark there. There are some good ones from western developers but none has reached that level of Katawa Shoujo(DDLC maybe but it's still a ripoff despite being well polished). Tbh even after completing it, I didn't realize that it was a western VN for a long time. Not to say Western VNs are bad, but good ones are very few like Everlasting Summer(these devs are particularly top-notch), The letter, etc

Yeah, I have quite a hard time finding vanilla games in dlsite 'cause the search engine doesn't have exclusion-tag feature. damnit, this feature should be included in any search tool.

Nowadays, I'm wandering around all time in itch.io - new heaven for indie games :D hehe. A lot of quality games from good devs are published here and they are usually free :P

itch.io is great but for indie games, not indie visual novels. I have seen a great amount of visual novels there but its also over saturated with demos, alphas and betas that are usually dropped after some time especially when the game has 18+ content. But as far as all ages indie visual novels go, there are plenty of them.

Hello everyone, this is one of the CG of my visual novel "one day to disappear"
what do you say? The style is not manga, but the designer is very good. I'd like you to play my demo, find it here! thanks!

This crayony style is quite new tbh. I have seen cell shaded, 3DCG(which are worst) and digital art ones. I haven't played your VN but this CG gives a way of dark and gritty vibe similar to that of any dark plot VN or either a scene of heartwrenching heartbreak. I really haven't seen this kind of artstyle in either Japanese or Western Visual novels. Your artist is really awesome. Good luck for your game pal.

 Well, I guess it's time to buy a new toy then. Past few weeks, I played games from Nutaku, honestly, they're all TRASH, especially games ported from DMM, they made them f*cking harder than original Japanese versions  :reeee: I wasted my precious time.

Anyway, I've just added Rating, give me your feedback or correct me if you disagree with something. Thanks :P

Nutaku games are absolute trash. DLSite's games are better despite a vast majority of them having machine translations. The only downside is there are rarely any vanilla games on that website. Perhaps there are some in Japanese but 1/100 are vanilla ones in Harem department. Rest all are rapege

Sorry, I realized that the command reference is incomplete.

    @menu menu.png menu-selected.png START 640 480 240 120

"640 480" locates the top-left position of the button on the screen.  It's not center position, and it's not documented.  I'll add some explanations to the command reference. Thank you for pointing out.

In this way, your feedback is important for this engine.  So please feel free to contact me with any comments or questions.

Okay, I'll put it on my TODO list's top.  Since this is my first time to edit videos, it will take several weeks.

Oh this helps tbh. That's why I wasn't able to adjust the buttons correctly. Btw I'll wait for the videos. Thanks again for the explanation.

Hi, actually I am the developer of Suika2 you're talking about.  Unfortunately, your e-mail didn't reach me.  If you have any questions, I would love to answer here on this board (or resend me an e-mail.)

Suika2 is a fully featured VN engine except movie playback.

Yes, it's not that famous.  But at least, there is a semi-commercial full VN that uses Suika2.  Search for "灰翼のロードピス" if interested.  (ATTENTION!!! X-RATED!!!)

A good side of few users is that I can take a lot of time to support every single VN developers.  Feel free to contact me.  I'll introduce new features for you.

Sorry I wasn't able to get into contact with you earlier. I have tried to play around with the engine and have found it way better than Ren'Py as a beginner friendly visual novel engine. Only two engines whom I consider way above in terms of "getting people into VN development" is Suika2 and Tyranobuilder. Problem is that, in Tyranobuilder I have actually been able to make a full game (it was only 20 minutes long but still...) and I was able to make scenes with Suika 2 and it's exporting feature is actually pretty fluid and smooth. The things where I am confused are areas that haven't been explained very well. Like for eg: buttons for the menu option. I understand that first two values located the center and next two values allocated the size for them but when I actually tried to implement it in that way, it isn't working very well. The buttons wouldn't work, or they are off the desired space where we have wanted them to be. Most of the problems I am facing is in the GUI department especially with buttons or whenever, lets say I decide to change the size of text box, as I wanted to make it bigger, because I was trying that time for an NVL mode to see if it'd work. This engine is pretty good and underrated. More so because I went to some Japanese sites and found some pretty sexy games that has been developed with this. I just couldn't find a very decent documentation or a video tutorial about it. I am going to check the link that you have posted but It would certainly be very nice if there was a video tutorial for it, because I couldn't even find a Japanese one.   Thanks for replying btw

  7. I loved every route except of Shizune. She just doesn't sit well with me. I don't usually say this for VN heroines but...I really hated Shizune as a character and my hate became much worse when I found out that there was no Misha's route except that affair part which leads to bad ending. I could have easily chosen Misha over Shizune. As far as my favourite routes go its Emi>>>Hanako>>Lily>Rin. I don't even consider Shizune's route to give it a rating but it's just my personal feelings about her. As for other people who do consider her as a good heroine, I can understand why? Its not like her personality is bad, but I just hate her personality (though my tastes in good personality can't be termed as decent one either considering my fav Grisaia heroine was Makina).

But yeah...Katawa Shoujo, a game which I love more than many Japanese ones. Tbh I never considered a western VN to be so mesmerizing because when I looked at a vast majority of games made in Ren'Py, only a handful of them were decent enough to be called a "professional" VN. I didn't even knew it was made by a bunch of people on 4chan, though I was somehow intrigued by "4 leaf clover studio". And what they achieved was monumental? For a freeware, this game had everything of top notch quality. And I think this is the only english Visual novel that even Japanese people know about.

I've tried for the last several hours to get JParser to work, but I keep getting the error "No dictionaries loaded."  I downloaded the edict2.gz file and unzipped it into the dictionary folder, i also tried the other edict file to no avail. Could this be a problem with windows 10 specifically?

    https://imgur.com/rSz8uIW

Its is a usual problem with windows tbh. The defender wouldn't even notify you that its quarantining/deleting something because it flags it as a virus and programs like parser usually gets detected as viruses. It has happened with me numerous times.

  9. So I was trying to extract the files from the game directory for this game - https://vndb.org/v19083

But when I extract the files from the circled ones, the texts that come up are garbled nonsense. I tried to switch to different encoding but the results remained the same.

First of all I went into the game directory and extracted the contents of this file -  Baf1v0u.png

Then I selected the CODE file to open thinking it will have the coding part - 8kLltS7.png

But all it showed was this blasphemy - cD6iQES.png

Then I changed the encoding several times but the results were more or less the same - 2NF0xis.pngrjn88Y7.pngPaA2CDU.png

Does anyone have any idea, how can I hack the script for this game?

Thanks for taking time to read this post.

Then once you have gotten your first license start a kickstarter to fund the title getting translated and use the money to fund getting more licenses so you can announce more titles. Then work on getting as many licenses as you can possibly get and then get overwhelmed by the amount of projects leading to poor management of the different localisations and poor management on delivering on your initial kickstarter/kickstarters to then be hated by people who spent money on your kickstarter or are waiting on you to release titles. Then suffer poor sales due to reputation built up on poor management and due to the small reader base in the english community which also only has few people willing to actually pay for VNs.

    sure thing buddy sure thing

    1. AMASSING CAPITAL - As with the vast majority of businesses, you're going to need some startup capital. Because the general profitability of English language visual novel translations is approximately 0, you will likely have a difficult time finding investors unless they have two or more health conditions that inhibit their brain function. You will most likely have to self-fund. Flip those cushions, ransack your old man's attic for some forgotten stock certificates, you know the deal. The bare minimum, I'd say, is somewhere around $50,000. NOTE that you can increase your (probably non-existent because VN) profit margins by performing a work role in the company, translating, editing, etc; instead of just being the translation sweatshop overseer.

OK and PLEASE don't go into debt over such a pants-on-head business idea. Please don't.

    2. ESTABLISH THE COMPANY - Search for how to establish a company in your jurisdiction, it should be the same for a localization business as most other businesses. Come up with some sick name and branding, get a fancy graphic artist to do some of it, maybe get an anime girl mascot since zoomers seem to love that shit these days.

OK you have money to burn and company branding that hopefully doesn't look like a kindergarten art project, not bad let's get started down that slope that ends in 'we are, regrettably, going to be phasing out of visual novel publishing'.

    3. ACQUIRE LICENSES - This is where my man Kokoro, my 4th favourite person on Fuwanovel, 's advice comes in. Haul ass over to Japan — you DO speak Japanese, right? Perhaps consider enlisting the services of a business consultant with experience in Japan so as to not make a fool of yourself and make use of their connections so you are not cold calling. Otherwise, cold call, flash your sick branding, and attempt to get a meeting with a representative one of the last vestiges of a dying industry. In a pinch, you could try virtual meetings, but in general it is better to have boots on the ground when performing international business.

BONUS STEP - Wait for COVID-19 to settle down.

BONUS BONUS STEP - Consider working with Chinese companies as well so you perhaps stand a chance at financial success. Practise drinking baijiu and sake before you leave in order to sharpen your abilities in shitfaced negotiation.

    4. ACQUIRE STAFF - Assuming you made it this far by the grace of God, you will need staff members to work on the license you have acquired. A translator, an editor, and a QA (preferably a GOOD one they're important) is probably the bare minimum, along with the unfortunate bastard that will have to handle the technical side of things with the engine. Probably attempt to pay them around the sweet spot between 'this would be a decent wage in 1820' and 'this would be a decent wage in 2020'. You have to keep those expenses down but if the sweatshop workers take up arms then the game is all over, commissar.

    5. WORK ON THE THING - Do the translating and the editing and the QA-ing. Try to stick to the deadlines you impose and share, that alone would probably set you apart.

    6. ADVERTISE THE THING AND DO SOCIAL MEDIA THINGS - Again use that sick branding to form an online presence. Do it yourself if you are personable and responsible, otherwise find somebody else to do it.

    7. SELL THE THING - Contact storefronts, the classics, Steam, JAST USA, all that great stuff we know and love, get it listed places where people can buy it, maybe start your own web store if your web design person lives in an economically depressed region.

    8. GO BANKRUPT - Ok nah just kidding but probably.

Then you just repeat from 3, possibly skipping 4 if you are a benevolent overlord. Best of luck to you!

Even with all those hilarious sarcasms, this is the best answer I have got.

dangit. My computer doesn't even meet the minimum system requirement  (4GB).

Look at the art, this game reminds me of another game (from same developer): Apostle, which also runs slowly on my computer.

Yep lamo. My PC meets the minimum system requirement and that game still runs slow and its not a problem with the engine because I have played other nsfw RPG Maker games too like One1One's catalogue of games and they run flawlessly and a vast majority of them do. Some developers just don't focus too much on optimizing their games for every PC. Otherwise I don't understand why the f*ck does GTA 5 runs flawlessly on my PC but Siluman soft games couldn't.

But there is :o I remember both, at least. Unless there is ANOTHER hentai like that...

Maybe lol bcuz in Hentai you can't expect anything to be of absolute nature. There's nsfw parody of hentai which is parody of another borderline h anime...and such.

Oh, thanks. I'm quite busy recently. This list is growing like hell :D . I will reorganize it.

Newest game (I think) is Island Saga.

Don't bother purchasing their games if you don't have a powerful PC/laptop. They make pixel games and yet it runs so shabbily, and drains a huge amount of RAM. The polishing and graphics were decent enough but the game was unplayable because of lag. Damn, even Witcher 3 ran in my PC in better way.
