eh, you could call it a trademark word gag of hers
Like Monogatari girls (I think each and every single one of them has a catchphrase of some sort.)
I don't speak or read moonrunes but perhaps "Zurui" is more like "meanie" in most instances.

Cholula sauce is from my country!
Not the best hot sauce tho. If you want the best go for Valentina (the black label one)

Just because you failed doesn't mean others can't do it. I'm reading untranslated stuff quite well after a year of learning.

Meh. I'll stick with not learning Japanese.

There seems to be a similar theme to your answers, but for the life of me I can’t figure out what it is. I think you’re being a little too subtle...

try the "full nude" approach, then report back with your thoughts.
    Was it refreshing? liberating?

As a professional graphic designer myself, indeed rotating text is the way to go.
You can also modify a font and/or let photoshop's pharagraph tool do the magic
but in the end what you want is to keep type space even and readable.

Ah the good old "japanese only context/subtext jokes that do not work for any other country/in any other language" Indeed it's one of the things lost in translation that will either fly over our heads or come off as a very lame joke.
I know the feeling as my favourite anime "Nichijou" is rife with japanese jokes and puns. I had a hard time
figuring what the context of the jokes was and even when I got the meaning behind them, they weren't very
good for a gaijin like me.

My first thought is as follows:
You are complaining that this, by all means, Slice-of-Life anime does not have a plot. Does not seem like the best thing to complain about. You personally dislike the characters. Join the fact that this is to be taken as a slice of life with a look at the everyday mysteries we find in the mundane and it doesn't take a genius to figure out you have nothing left if you dislike the characters in a slice of life. Therefore, you have no reason to like Hyouka - although I'm sure you don't hate it either. You hate that you sat through it to the end because of it being regarded as good. Consequently, the discussion should turn and focus to this: Characters.
Some people really liked the characters, some only liked a couple of them and that was enough, and some idiots like me watched it for the mystery and enjoyed it.

Either way, I don't think you can objectively consider this anime bad. But again, I wouldn't know. I liked the mysteries and Chitanda - and Oreki, of course - but I watched it so long ago that I cannot defend or fundament any points without rewatching it, and I certainly won't do that any time soon.
