  1. I haven't read many EVNs, but of the ones I have read there are two that I can confidently say I have primarily positive feelings towards (well, three actually, but Juniper's Knot is already on the list so I'm not counting that one). Cooking Companions is one of those horror VNs that has a bright and happy exterior. In general I find that style interesting but usually poorly executed; for this one though, I feel the execution is solid. The story feels pretty nonsensical early on, but by the end it perfectly walks the line of explaining enough for the story to make sense without explaining so much that it loses all sense of mystery. https://vndb.org/v28079 And of course my favorite EVN is Sucker for Love: First Date. In this novel Eldritch horrors are anime girls, you can date them and help them end reality. Despite it's dumb premise, this novel is both humorous and genuinely scary; it transitions between comedy and horror seamlessly and it absolutely nails both genres. https://vndb.org/v30662
  2. Corpse Party: played it multiple times before I even really got into VNs because it's a pretty good horror game which frankly there aren't many of. Grisaia no Kajitsu: read the 18+ version first, skipped every h-scene cause they were bad, read the 17+ version after finishing the series, didn't like that they cut non h content from it. To this day I'm not sure which version I like more. Island: got a friend to read it years after I did, decided to reread it since there's a lot going on in that novel and I wouldn't be able to hold a conversation about it without a refresher. Dangrope 1 and most of 2: played them and had mixed feelings, was present for irl friends playing them as my mixed feelings turned to mostly negative feelings. Ace Attorney 1: It's a good game with exactly four cases and no fifth case, would replay again. 999: Played it on my own, liked it, made my friends play it while I watched. Some of VLR: Played it, hated it, but my friends finished 999 so they tried to play it (I think we only got through like two play sessions before they bailed). Cooking Companions: Haven't replayed it yet, but I liked it and it got an update a while back and it's October right now so I'll almost definitely replay it before the end of the month.
  3. Eyyy. I've been looking forward to this one for a long time. That said, really, the month after October? Why would they do this, I'm already burning out on horror.
  4. Idk, I think I'd feel uncomfortable driving a car with anime drawi-... is that a Subahibi car? I'll take your entire stock!
  5. Any recommendations for VNs written by them? The only one I've tried so far is Higurashi which left me with a bad impression. I would like to be hyped for the new Silent Hill rather than feel disinterested due to the writer.
  6. I never thought about it like that before, but now that you mention it both Meikyuu and Rakuen do kinda seem more like fandiscs than actual sequels.
  7. I picked Gnosia up a few months ago since it sounded interesting but never actually started it, thinking it was probably more interesting in concept than in execution. Given these reviews, I think I'll have to dig through my Switch library and give it a try.
  8. Sweet, I actually backed the kickstarter for that one, so glad to hear to it came out well. It's probably what I'm going to read when I finish Hatsumira.
  9. It's probably not quite what you're looking for, but iirc Cooking Companions draws inspiration from Slavic Mythology. https://vndb.org/v28079
  10. If you haven't read the Devil on G String yet, then I've got a pretty good suggestion for you. https://vndb.org/v211
  11. If I worded any of that poorly or you have other questions, let me know. I read the novel a second time a few months back, so it's still pretty fresh in my mind.
  12. I can't think of any VN take I've ever heard that I agree with more than Higurashi having pacing issues. I started Higurashi back in February of 2018 and have been on and off slowly picking away at it since. Almost four years later and currently I'm just a couple hours into Tatarigoroshi because I just can't subject myself to that much nothing for long periods of time. I really liked the last couple hours of Onikakushi and I wish there was more of that.
  13. According to vndb the Sayooshi patch was taken down; is there somewhere I'd still be able to find it? Kikokugai looks interesting, thank you for bringing it to my attention. I've actually already played Corpse Party a few times, it's one of the games that got me into VNs originally; perhaps I should play another of the sequels. Muramasa is one I've been waiting on for a long time. I'm surprised but also glad to see if finally got translated. If we're actually seeing progress on long Nitroplus VNs, any chance the Sumaga translation is going to be completed one day?
  14. Thank you all for the suggestions. I'll have to look into Swan Song, I've seen it come up when I've been scrolling through vndb, but I never gave it much thought before. Tokyo Babel definitely interests me as well, I actually bought it on steam a few years back but never got around to it. End Sleep and Sayonara wo Oshiete both look great and I'm sad that I don't know Japanese; it feels like whenever I ask for suggestions the most intriguing ones are untranslated. For now, I have some friends who insisted I stop putting off Steins;Gate, so following up on these will have to wait.
  15. Title pretty much says it all. Read Sakura no Mori Dreamers recently and, after how amazing it's prologue was, now I can't bring myself to sit through hours of mid af slice of life and/or romance at the start of whatever novels I try to read. Translated suggestions preferred.
  16. As for my review of it, the first time I read it I actually felt largely neutral towards it due to the fact that I started right after finishing Grisaia and was kinda upset that it was absolutely nothing like Grisaia (I was trying to fill the void in my heart that Labyrinth/Eden/Phantom Trigger never could). I recently reread it on account of a friend reading it for the first time and now that I no longer had such an unreasonable expectation of it I must say that I am quite fond of it and would even just barely place it in my top 10 favorite VNs. For other VNs by Frontwing that've been translated, you can probably check VNDB. For other VNs with time travel (or equivalent) unfortunately any I'd recommend I actually cannot recommend because knowing about time travel going in would be a spoiler. That said, I believe Steins;gate is about time travel and was very well received (haven't read it myself tho).
  17. Thank you all for responding. It's a shame that it's unavailable for now; hopefully something happens with it in the future.
  18. I've been very out of the loop regarding VNs, so apologies if w/e is going on is common knowledge and I'm just bad at searching. Anyways, I wanted to buy Newton and the Apple Tree for one of my friends for the holidays, but none of the official shops carry it any more. I joined Sol Press' discord server but even asking what's going on with it only got me as far as Sol Press losing the license. Is there any news on what's going on with the license beyond that? Has another company picked it up?
  19. To the best of my knowledge, Asako first appears in Grisaia no Meikyuu, but if someone knows otherwise please correct me.
  20. Wow, I can't believe that someone else has played World End Syndrome. I'd swear that no one has heard of it.
  21. If you're chill with an abundance of internal inconsistencies then you'd probably like Aokana. It's similar to Grisaia, albeit far more lighthearted and also only one of the routes actually sees the conflict through to the end. https://vndb.org/v12849
  22. Due to the spoilery nature of this topic, each spoiler box is only going to include a title. Film: JVN: JVN: And to a far lesser extent: Anime: Video Game:
  23. Thank you, that seems to have solved the issue. Additionally, if anyone else is in the position I was in, the kickstarter update that came out since my previous post offers multiple ways to go about getting your shipping address changed.
