H2O √ after and another Complete Story Edition

    Release
Download the patch (Google drive, Mediafire) (ver. 1.01, dated September 8, 2023)
    Description
In H2O -Footprints in the Sand-, Hirose Takuma is a blind middle school student, though the cause for his blindness is undetermined. After his mother died unexpectedly, it left a deep emotional scar on him, causing him to become lonely and reserved. Due to this, Takuma moves from the city out into a rural area to live with his uncle and Takuma is enrolled into a new middle school. There, he meets several new girls, including the firm and obstinate Kohinata Hayami, the kind and obliging Kagura Hinata, and the cheerful and mysterious Otoha.
In √ after and another, there are new after stories for two of the heroines from H2O (Hayami and Hinata), plus new routes for Yui and Hamaji/Yukiji, the latter of which also unlocks Maki's route.
A version merging both games into one was later released, H2O √ after and another Complete story Edition.

    Where to purchase
The game can be purchased legally from DMM (https://dlsoft.dmm.co.jp/detail/mnphs_0007/), but a Japanese proxy/VPN may be necessary to purchase it. That is where I obtained my copy. It goes on sale quite often, although it's pretty cheap even at full price, considering its age.
    Project

The English localization project is being conducted by Studio Frisay, fresh off the completed Imasugu Onii-chan ni Imouto datte Iitai! project. As before I (Tooko) will be doing all of the translating and editing of the script, along with probably most of the image editing, and any engine work that needs to be done (of which is very little).

    Progress
Programming: The game is built on the BGI/Ethornell engine, as with Imaimo before it, so I'm already familiar with how the engine works and have all the resources necessary to apply any hacks and build the completed patch once everything is done. In fact, there's a lot less work this time around on that front because the structure is a lot simpler, being a NVL game instead of an ADV game.
Translation: The translation officially commenced on August 10, 2022 and was completed on January 28, 2023, although progress was initially very slow because of the ongoing work for the Imaimo patch at the time. However, I already translated a decent amount of the script (20%) by the time I announced the project a couple months later in October. The game has 73,547 lines across 167 scenario files split up between the common route and six character routes:
    Common: 6953 / 6953: 100%
    Hayami: 20620 / 20620: 100%
    Hinata: 14112 / 14112: 100%
    Yui: 13151 / 13151: 100%
    Hamaji: 4973 / 4973: 100%
    Maki: 5437 / 5437: 100%
    Otoha: 8301 / 8301: 100%
    Total: 73547 / 73547: 100%
Images and videos: Aside from minor tweaks, all of the in-game images in need of editing are now completed. Editing of images is shared between me and nReus, who will also be typesetting lyrics onto the 9 OP/ED videos. The images include about 110 for the UI, and about 335 for the rest of the game, although most of those are minor variations on each other, so the actual number of unique images is much less.
Editing: The editing of the game's text officially commenced on February 10, 2023, and it was completed on July 10, 2023.
QC: The quality check phase involves going through a normal playthrough to check for any problems with the patch files and their rendering. This should took about two months, completing in early September. The patch is scheduled for release on September 8, 21:00 UTC.

I was just wondering what every ones favorite Key visual novel is, that is if you like their visual novels. I've just started playing vn's and since I've always been a fan of their anime adaptations i wanted to know which of their Vn's i should play! (My first VN is clannad by the way, i just bought it for ps4^^)

Hoi! I just wanted to ask why you guys like to play visual novels, i'm not sure why i guess i just like hearing other peoples reasons for why they like them!^^ I guess it wouldn't be fair to ask without giving my own reasoning though, the reason i like Visual Novels is because I've always been attracted to the idea of them, the idea that its story and you're the one who gets to pick how its told has always been cool to me!

Because I like otaku medium like manga and anime and this is just another medium within that interest and I feel like it is valuable to consume all of them because there are worthwhile things to experience in each.
Also I think there are things VNs are capable of doing better than other mediums in general like animestyle porn, mystery or harem and as such I generally enjoy these things more in VNs than I would have in other mediums.

There's so few VNs with that though... I think you'd have more luck with fetish porn sites. ^^
As to the main topic... I have some very peculiar personal reasons which led me to getting more involved with VNs, but in general, they combine goergous art, interesting stories and romance in a way that I really enjoy. Plus they are the best source of yuri content (at least outside of manga, which I generally don't read), to which I'm pretty much addicted to at this point. :3

I tend to read out loud (even putting emotion into scenes that demand it). So basically, any time except at nighttime.
Not reading at nighttime also cuts down on the plot picking up, and it just also happening to be 11:30pm, and such....
I don't have any commitments, so I can binge all day if I choose.

I'd say Rewrite because I liked all the characters and it had some of my favorite moments in all the vns I've played.

I gotta say, Clannad is not the best choice for a first VN, because it's pretty easy to get yourself lost in the choices. Then again, that is one of the reasons why it's my favorite VN of all time. Also, it might be easier to ask which Key VNs to avoid, since there are a lot of good ones.

    Rewrite, followed by Tomoyo After.
If it's anime only, then Charlotte.

Little Busters is my favorite, and then Clannad is my 2nd favorite Key vn. All of the Key vns I read are very good, including Kanon. I still need to read Harmonia finish Air, and I also hope I get to read Rewrite someday. I just love that Little Busters explores friendship, and etc. I also loved the ost and the characters. I also loved how it has comedy, minigames, and then the feels.

Planetarian, followed by Rewrite, and then by everything else.
Actually, I made a similar thread about a year ago. It's interesting how much the general opinion in this thread changed since then.

Little Busters!, yeah. Clannad isolates its characters too much from one another most of the time. If it weren't for that, I'd say Clannad.

the only Key VN I have read so far ist Clannad, and it was simply awesome. No other VN has affected me that much emotionally, both making me laugh a lot but als having very sad moments.
(Although I still loved the Muv-Luv series more in the end)

I'm not sure - I loved them all (except for Rewrite which I didn't read yet), but probably Little Busters as well. But Clannad, or even AIR and Kanon aren't too far behind.
