cykaki reacted to MaggieROBOT in What are the best visual novels that were released in 2018?
On the "games for girls" side of things, I think 2018 was a pretty solid year.
We got the localization of both Psychedelica games, and Sweet Pool recently. For Japanese releases, there were Cendrillon Palika as a Switch exclusive (as the Vita is dying in the West because Sony itself is trying to kill it, it's a good thing to expand the market), Piofiore no Banshou, a fandisk for Collar x Malice, and some great BL games from first-time developers, like Mahoutsukai to Tenshi to Akuma and Nie no Machi.

I like your enthusiasm but, don't just practice it alone.
Make sure to use the kanji's etc. in your daily life. I talk with my japanese friends to practice it with both texting and voice chatting and it's very helpful/useful than just reading stuff alone. Also my advice is don't try memorizing everything because it's impossible and you'll forget it, so focus on the meanings and visualize them on your mind. For example make up a story inside your head with the kanji's meanings and shapes.
Lastly never skip anything, like the onyomi and kunyomi readings.

Thanks. You make a very good point. At the end of the day I just have to keep writing and see what happens. And yeah, I know the characters. I got the routes planned out to a good degree. It's just conversation or scenes can be hard at times. Sometimes I start out writing feeling decently confident but as I go more into it I begin to worry.

But yeah, I guess i should just have fun with the stories and see what happens. .I like that way of thinking =D.

That's a nakige setup all-right. Are you planning for seperate routes for each of the major characters you listed there, or focus on Skye? Proper multi-route yurige are actually pretty rare and would stand out nicely from the crowd. I also very much dig that art sample, quite gorgeous.
I'm not a writing expert by any means, so I'm not sure I can give meaningful advice on that, but I think you can approach writing yuri just like any other kind of story - female lead is a change in perspective and requires slightly different characterisation, just like Cykaki suggested, but don't necessarily change the fundamentals of your story. There are certain storytelling tropes commonly used in yuri, but you shouldn't actively try to follow them IMO. I would also argue against ecchi and for cautious use of erotic segments - the fanservice simply doesn't fit the type of story you're apparently trying to make. Although considering AIs backstory and Skye's description for example, an erotic scene between those two could have a lot of meaning. Just don't include such stuff without clear purpose.
A lot also depends on how much realism you include. Do you ignore LGBT issues like Nurse Love Addiction and make everyone "gay by default", touch upon them in minor ways like Flowers, or make them a major focus of the story? I don't think there's a wrong choice here, but it's important to be consistent and it will affect the tone of your story and the process of writing the characters in a major way.
Also, well, I don't know if I can speak for anyone but myself, but a lot of yuri media is very heavy on drama, Flowers included, so I don't think it's anything people would dislike by default.
"Friends to lovers" is also a pretty common yuri trope... But as with any other romance genre, anything goes, as long as its well-written and compelling on some way. Don't have any clear arguements for or against it TBH, apart from the fact that it let's you set up an elaborate and believable bond between the heroines and prevent the romance from showing out of nowhere.

    Research.
Those characters are your own OC's right? You should know them better than anyone, I mean you're the dev/script writer lead.
When you're stuck with something don't skip to a new thing, test some stuff and try to write down everything as much as possible in your mind to see from a different aspect/view of the situation.
To be honest, school/zombie/ghosts whatever the theme is...the most important thing is leaving an impression on the player. Something that they will feel a little similiarity along with curiosity.
Writing block is no fun indeed, but to fix that you need to obviously try new stuff and fill your mind with new inspirations/ideas.
Me myself I draw, write and make music on my own and that shit is not easy when you're in a state of mind feeling "anxious/worried" of what to do next.
Just chill and have fun, put your emotions...make the lines feel alive and not just plain lines.
Connect with your characters and put yourself into their shoes, try to see from their point of view and don't slow down your inspiration but be steady.

    Hope that helps.

ps. girls are more emotional/sensitive by their motherly nature, so, to fit in the girl image try thinking like a girl. what makes a girl , 'a girl'? not the gender, but the way how a woman thinks is very different than a man. think out of the box and good luck!

Welcome to Fuwanovel, and sorry for the belated greeting. As for the title, quite something I guess although I agree though that Evangelion opening here is quite good. As for whether asking the recommendations is a taboo or not, I would say it's not as long as you tell us of what kind VNs that you were already played, and if you want to ask for the recommendations feel free to do so. I hope that you'll have fun here.

I'd be lying both to myself and to you guys if I told you "do this do that" because I can never do things exactly like that. but, I can share my thoughts.
    vn's are like books so, reading 5books at the same time of course would be impossible to finish. unless you're someone who can focus on something for a long time...which I'm not, like LemiusK said;
I get bored easily and need new entertaintment because my brain is curious and doesn't like rushing or being just too slow on things. and since i'm a multitasker I can't bring myself to do only one thing cause it just feels plain boring&tiring mentally.
Anyway, I dont' mean to talk about myself here but give the message. which is doing things that is compatible with your personality and brain can be a good idea. Like, I have tons of games to finish but although I ramble how I can't finish them all... to be honest, I just don't wanna lol. my pace is slow, so going with your pace and having fun is great.

I don't think I'll ever not read multiple VNs at the same time. Personally, I'm more likely to stop reading a VN if I'm only reading one or two stories at the same time because of the lack of variety. For someone whose attention span is as bad as mine, I simply can't stand sticking to one routine for a long time. More often than not, I stopped reading VNs, watching anime, or playing video games because I was seeking something else more interesting, because I was getting that bored of the same scenery. So in order to keep myself interested, visiting six different worlds of different genres at the same time seems to be a more efficient method so far working for me.
If I had forced myself to read The Labyrinth of Grisaia in one go (instead of splitting it up between my reading of other VNs), I think I would have dropped it long ago. Same with The Fruit of Grisaia. As fun as the comedy was, as great as the story might be, the lack of variety is the killer of interest for myself.

And when I looked at Fuwanovel forum, I recognized a tool called "PakDecomp", which seemed to be able to Extract .PAK files. Unfortunately, as Tlwiki seems dead, I can not enter it to Download, and I can not find it anywhere else. (;´∀`)

cykaki reacted to CeruleanGamer in Whats the appeal of ntr?
Dafuq? Are you guys psychics or something? How did you guys know I'll be here?
Anyways, CeruleanGamer the NTR Witch has arrived to educate you lovelies the beauty of Netorare.
Not everyone who reads NTR are masochist. I am naturally a hard S when it comes to fetishes and pornography and NTR highly appeals to me because....
For me, the greatest appeal of NTR is the CORRUPTION ASPECT.
Nothing is tastier than seeing a well mannered girl or even a strong willed girl become submissive once she surrenders to lust. It's just lovely to see. Most people have the notion that women are these pure and beautiful creatures who do nothing out of the ordinary, but the NTR genre pushes it out of bounds by mixing the powerful emotion of jealousy and depression to create a setting where your typical woman is now a lot hornier and sex crazed than the male protagonist. It's like an escape in real life because the current social outlook in real life is that men are perverts and are always thinking about sex. In NTR, it's different. You now have the girl who is hornier and is willing to surrender herself and become someone's plaything.
There is this old saying: "Men want to sleep with the whore but want to marry the Madonna." NTR reverses that and makes the Madonna, the Mary Sue, the Yamato Nadeshiko, the prim and proper wife the whore and the mixture of corruption, exhibitionism, and voyeurism spices it up and doesn't make it as boring as your typical vanilla VN where it's just a meet n fuck, happily ever after setting.
P.S. Thanks to @Nosebleed for summarizing the types of NTR. Glad I didn't have to write a couple more paragraphs for that.

Hello, I always wanted to have a bgm like how it's literally in everything (movies, drama, anime, vn's etc.) but not included in my particular very exciting life.
Sending god an online message to say he needs to make an additional life patch for an enjoyable experience being a weeb at least.
Anyway sorry about that, it's me being me, casually weird. But if I was going to make an introducement I wanted it to be weird like me hah (yeah it was a great idea cykaki *claps self* >_>)
But leaving the jokes aside I'm very pleased to be here! the idea of how visual novels can bring together this many people is just awesome. Whatever the content is, we all enjoy a good waifu  story and love to see and feel new oppa- emotions.
I'm just a 20 year old, really don't mind being called he/she or they. I also enjoy all types of genres of visual novels, just chilling and enjoying the show you know
So yeah thanks and see you around peeps

cykaki reacted to Nosebleed in New Profile Fields [Accepting Suggestions]
Hey let's blow the dust off of this subforum for a bit shall we?
I noticed we haven't really updated the profile info since... Fuwa was made basically (other than that one time we added Steam to user profiles). I figured I'd go ahead and add some things users might want.
List of things added so far:
Twitter has now been added under Contact Methods  Anilist, ANN (Anime News Network) and Kitsu (formerly known as Hummingbird) are now options for those that don't have a MAL account Transgender, Other and Attack Helicopter are now available gender options Projects has now been added under Profile Information where you can specify whatever VN projects you work (or have worked) on. This isn't for me alone though, so I decided to make a thread and ask for people's suggestions regarding what other fields might be useful to have in their profiles.
    Important note:
These are small fields that will go either under your contact methods or your profile information section. They're meant to be short. Preferrably things like the username you have on the respective website or something along those lines. Because of this, things like Youtube channels have already been ruled out due to the URLs being too long. Keep that in mind when suggesting.
Furthermore, make sure that your suggestion isn't just for you but is actually something legitimately useful for the users on the forum.

Only when you start asking for a recommendation and no one can check what VNs you've read in the past.

lol, what's 4chan? But seriously, taking a bunch of permatrolls seriously is a waste of time and energy. Even if you are jaded you should make an effort to be a decent human being. I don't join major social networks, as a personal policy. My primary reasons are my belief that the human brain degenerates when it is exposed to large groups of people as opposed to conversations with a smaller group and my distaste for people who can't bring themselves to look at reality. Not only that, obsessing over other people's opinion of you - in the form of kudos, thumbs ups, etc. - has a lot of bad effects on an individual's mental health. Cynicism and constructive criticism are one thing, but being poisonous without making a legitimate point is a habit far too many people are into on the net.

cykaki got a reaction from LemiusK in Do You Prefer Happy Endings Or Bittersweet/More Realistic Endings?
    I think I'm the weird alien here (which im not surprised) inside everyone that likes bad endings;
I mean...good endings are nice, as well as emotional ones etc. but, bad endings are more interesting in my opinion. I'm not a sentimental person but, I do feel a connection with something or someone if they click with me. So I guess in this case it depends on the game and the character's personality and traits. You know those 4th wall breaker games like Doki Doki Club and Kimi to Kanojo to Kanojo no Koi? Now, those are the ones that I'm talking about.
or crazy interesting stuff like Minikui Mojika no Ko, and The House in Fata Morgana series.
I guess it's probably because I like the twisted, but, nevertheless I like viewing differently so bad endings are fascinating.
