  1. I wasn't blaming anyone for high prices here. Honestly, with the Hoshimemo disaster, I don't blame Favorite for the prices they charge for licenses. Plus, a speculation where I comment that paying over 60 grand for the ability to translate and sell a VN trilogy isn't harming either Favorite or Sol Press. Props to them for trying to bring new series to the west. Considering I am not the richest person, my view is that 60 grand is a hell of a lot to someone like myself. Maybe not to a company though. (Basically, my comment was MY analysis of the estimated price, if multiplied, is pretty high to someone like myself, no harm meant.)
  2. I assumed it was like a "We'll pay the licensing fee AFTER the kickstarter if it is successful" kind of deal. Doing an unlicensed kickstarter would be disastrous nor would I expect a company to be that stupid.
  3. $21,250 x 3 = $63,750. That's quite a lot for the opportunity to translate something and sell it legally. No wonder the goal is so high.... Makes more sense that Neko didn't get this title's license, paying that out is seriously a gamble. Hope that Sol Press gets at least one goal reached or they are taking a huge loss here. Edit: Thinking about it, they probably haven't purchased the license(s) just yet to be safe or that'd be financial suicide. Excuse my stupidity.
  4. The lack of marketing and advertising is really making this campaign suffer, the only bit of advertising I've seen in the last two weeks is "The kickstarter is now active!". Probably won't even reach initial goal. Honestly, I think just translating it and hoping for the best in sales would have been the better option here. I say that because people who may want it can see that it won't even reach the stretch goals and only translating 1/3 of a trilogy makes no sense and then don't back it. (Yeah they did say they would "seek other means to fund the sequels" if stretch goals are not met but they really overshot here imo)
  5. Correction, that argument was not because of mosaic, more because people were shitting on Sekai in that thread because they were releasing an already fan-translated game without the H scenes that were necessary for some routes (necessary as in it actually contained character development and it tied up loose ends). Then it devolved into Scorp v Dovac. Only at the end of the thread there was a question about mosaics that was left unanswered.
  6. I just saw it as he accepted it. (She seemed stubborn about it anyways) Though, you're probably right.
  7. No problem, feel free to message me questions(it can get pretty confusing if not explained properly at some parts) whenever you get to it.
  8. It's technically non romantic as it deals with time and other things (anymore and I'd be spoiling) but if the rest of the series is anything to follow, you'll know what happens later in life for MC(romantically).
  9. It told one of hell of an ending though. Infuriating at some points but enjoyable overall, I have it rated pretty highly in my list along with the others. (Heroines really aren't as loli-ish as the pics on VNDB seem[Might be the devs preference but most are flat chested but all act nothing like a loli]{Rikka best girl btw})
  10. The other routes dealt with fragments of the prologue and common route but I didn't really appreciate the convenient "the others girls aren't your focus, so they're written out somehow". Also, that's why I don't usually take a true route as the true route unless it is done as well as Da capo 3's (It even was flawed but made sense in the grand scheme of the series)
  11. Personally, once I found the truth out about Koharu her route became bearable and enjoyable (unlike kid loli in Suki Suki[I couldn't even read it]). Yeah it's slightly annoying that they make a young looking character (something most are not fans of) the true heroine but if you look at this way:
  12. The only VN I have ever justified rating 10/10 is Yume Miru Kusuri. It has, arguably, the best "your actions have consequences" theme I have ever seen. I am probably a little biased as depression has been a very prevalent topic throughout my teen and adult years but it's the only VN I have ever felt a genuine connection to while reading. It has both depressing and happy sides, but definitely preys on a guilty conscience for picking one heroine over another. I wasn't even able to play any VNs for a good while after finishing it. I definitely can't recommend it enough. (That's not to say there isn't mistakes in some route branch choices but the story made me overlook that fact entirely.)
  13. FAQ says that you will "probably" have to choose between standard version and the "director's cut" version (meaning your uncensored bits) and availibility varies based on location.
  14. I've also always wondered how companies sell their rights/licenses as well? Lump-sum might be good if they expect it to not sell that great, but the % of the profits would always be the better decision, because they already made a profit on their title in Japan and the western release's sales just add to that.
  15. Seeing the goals, it makes me wonder how much they spent on buying the rights/license? They must have spent a lot to have to go this far beyond anything else they've kickstarted.
  16. Looks like someone told them the grammar was wrong in the descriptions, or at least for the Nora part because they changed "Once upon a time, mother passing away" to " Once upon a time, after his mother passed away". Let's hope it was just a web designer who didn't know english well and that's why the grammar was wonky. If not, I'd have to agree with everyone else that this would not be beneficial for them to release in the west.
  17. Those are high hopes indeed. It would be nice if it turns out that good.
  18. As long as they don't have a very questionable heroine like Mahiru( which they don't), I am sure it'll turn out to be pretty good. The story, to me, sounds pretty interesting because I used to love rockets and spacecraft. I still do, but it really isn't my passion.
  19. What I was saying was that after being denied once for no reason and just removed the game loses valuable exposure and creates a loss for the TL'ers. One, because the All-ages version that they worked on and spent money, time, and resources on is not going to be released, unless they release it on their own site. Two, because it adds to the stigma around VNs (look around in threads around reddit and steam and you can see that most people(who don't play VNs) think that VNs are the cancer of Steam[4 chan I'm looking at you too]) Furthermore, I sure as hell wouldn't want to deal with a company removing my products without even giving a reason to do so. Neko themselves said that there shouldn't be much worry on this release about the potential revenue lost from not being on Steam. About the submission fee, it's supposed to be refunded, but some indie devs had to wait ages for it and some didn't get theirs back at all. (Source: Reddit users who were aforementioned indie devs. Some from an article I read in November)
  20. To be fair, it would probably cause more issues to try to get it on Steam at this point. They said that the potential revenue on Steam(Or something to that point) wasn't really important for this release. If it was me, I'd definitely steer clear of a platform(for a while) that constantly contradicts itself and removes VNs without giving a valid reason. Yeah the exposure is important for the industry to grow but until Steam figures themselves out, it's equally as dangerous for a VN to be there due to the possibility of it being removed randomly, thus negating the point of being on Steam in the first place.
  21. How far back were you looking in the forums to unearth this thread? You just resurrected a nearly 5 year old thread lol. Yeah, PC is best for VNs to me too.
