Ooh, 10 points for tying it back into the original topic so smoothly...

I just played all of Planetarian in one sitting. My thoughts:
 
This has helped me refine my goals, here. I want VNs that make me do some or all of the following:
1. Make me cry.
2. Make me daw with lovable flirtation.
3. Get me pumped or emotional with awesome soundtracks.

I don't want to sacrifice quality for the sake of hentai scenes. I certainly enjoy hentai scenes, but I'd rather have no hentai scenes than bad ones that break my immersion. I think that means I want Nakige - not Nukige, not Moege. I have a preference for robots/AI, loli, yandere/loyalty, jealousy, and imoutos, but if I love a personality of a characther that's all that matters (I'll take Ramius's unattractive fatass from Evenicle any day because she's so fucking precious, appreciative, and loyal). 
If I need to fap, I'm just going to go to "Professor Dave's Masterbation Station". *Opens it up* (Wait why is there a new scene here that wasn't there before?!)
Grisaia really got on my nerves sometimes by dragging on and being too slow, but the more I think back on it the more fondly I remember it. It really was one hell of a complete experience.
Well, I don't think I'm going to make another poll so soon - I'm going to start up second place, Ever17, instead. By the time I finish that, then perhaps enough time has passed that I won't feel guilty making another poll thread from scratch. Thank you for putting up with all my spam, ya'lls input is making my life better :>.

Nope, the Steam version is full. Just make sure to pick up the version published by Sekai project and not Planetarian HD, which only supports Japanese, German and Chinese, I believe.

I always press a button to the next line in VNs when i read faster than they speak. But in 2nd run of Anzu's route i literally listened to every phrase she said till the end - so much i like her voice. Overall, there are 3 heroines i don't care about, and 3 amazing ones, which is actually enough for me to love this VN. It's so sad that DC2 Spring Celebration is not translated. So i hope maybe one day i'll try to read it with translator, at least Anzu, Koko and Amakase's routes.
Couple of OST i like (it's kinda hard to find Anzu's OST for some reason, so it's not here):
 

Koko felt like a bitchy, watered down Nagisa to me. I agree that Anzu is amazeballs, though. Every single line of hers in the entire game is fantastic. Then she just turns into an absolute sweetheart on her path, like wow. Nanaka was so boring, that when I followed her path to my very first venture into Act 2, I stopped and started over. She was interesting in paths that were not her own, though, which is just something that seems to happen sometimes. I could play a whole other game just listening to Anzu and Akane snark it up.
I agree the game could be a lot better without the sex scenes. It really hurts my immersion when there's 0 physical intimacy then 2 minutes later the heroine is like, "uh, let's go have sex now". It's either that or the MC is too pushy, there's no middle ground. It's just poop for sex scenes all around. Amakase is hot, though -.-. Anzu's face is not so bizarrely wide in pretty much every image besides her standard character sprites, and she looks cute then too.

I'm very close to playing Ever17, but it looks like Planetarian is currently barely beating it in the pole. I've been playing Evenicle to wait and see how the pole turns out. That game is just amazing, it has everything in it. Fun rpg mechanics, every possible fetish, every possible character body type, the most loving and sweet flirting ever, and horrifically disturbing shit that'll give me nightmares.

Well, not so long ago there were some attempts to complement @Kaguya's list with some other titles, including the ones which were translated more recently. Most of them were genre-specific, but I managed to find two which weren't:
 

Koko/Amakase were my 2nd fav characters in game after Anzu (which is among my the most fav girls ever in VNs). Yeah, sex scenes were not the thing game should be proud about, but i did not pay attention to it, because imo it's not the most important thing here. Moreover, i think they could easily not to do these scenes at all, story was more important. Also, couldn't care less about sisters and Nanaka, that's just not my type. But other 3 routes combined make this VN one of the most dear and memorable for me. I even read Anzu's route twice. She's really the best. And i love her voice so much.
Also i can say that there are some OST here that caught my eye. Like 4 or 5. Especially Anzu's OST. My personal favorite. I think it's beautiful music.
But i can understand those who doesn't think the way i am. It's just DC in general is of course not such thrilled and full of action as MLA or G Senjou no Maou. So it's understandable that so slow paced VNs don't suit to everyone.
As for Ever17, i agree with other people saying that age doesn't matter here. I still think VN looks good and the story is amazing, so give it a try someday if you will.

My bad, OP. Just take this tangent as sort of some extra votes for School Days/Shiny Days, perhaps. :>

Those characters are looking purty good. I've always only been attracted to very skinny women/girls as well as naturally going towards caretaker-like relationships, so I think this evolution was inevitable. That said, ironically, I loved Kotonoha sooooo much that I just might have gained some appreciation for somewhat chubby heroines just because of her. Kotonoha is in Shiny Days too, right? She's the star. Body type doesn't matter compared to my appreciation for uber loyalty.

Kidding. My vote goes to Fate Stay/Night~~

For other games with "super happy endings", there's Fureraba (overall the funniest VN I've ever read), Wagamama High Spec (has the most H content I've seen in a VN), and Kono Oozora (If my heart had wings).

I'll be around for the next 6 months ~ 1 year, playing VNs like mad all day long every day, probably.
Given all this spare time I'd love to discuss the ones I've played and play other people's suggestions. Since I might very well finish a new VN every three days, there's a great chance I could play your favorite and talk about it with you shortly after you suggest it!

I've only done one quick play through of Da Capo 1 so I know almost nothing. I'm excited to get into the series, and wanted to ask - what's the best way to do it?

Is Da Capo 2 a direct sequel that I should start up only after doing every last little bit of Da Capo 1? Or is it a superior rehash of the same thing, and I'd best be served by starting with it or switching to it after doing only a little bit of the original?
I'm terrified of spoilers, so instead of googling it I'm asking this here and hoping somebody saves me.

Well, I still mostly classified it as a FD, but I guess you can call it a sequel with the copious amount of new content and routes (and the extremely high number of h scenes)
A FD mostly has content / after stories of the original characters, and this is something which the majokoi-A series does not have. Instead, it focus on the heroines which you were not able to in Majikoi / Majikoi S. Personally this don't feel like a FD to me.
Anyway most important thing is that it's not a prerequisite to read Majikoi or S first (although it's preferable to first) for the A series 

Wouldn't you think it is a prerequisite though? If you haven't read it you have no idea who any of the characters are nor how the kazama family interacts.

Main focus is on Yamato and the new heroines, unlike S where you got no idea what's happening if you did not read the original. The focus on the original cast in the A series is far weaker than in S.
This, imo, makes it a series which can be enjoyed as standalone games (although, again, reading the original VNs is still preferable imo)

From the routes I read, you would enjoy routes like hegemons, cookies and yuki's sister much more if you had read S and the original as those routes did focus on the original cast. Also A3 has an after story for tsubame and the maids both of which you need to read S for. Azukis route is enjoyed much more if you've played monishiros route where you understand the relationship between her and Hideo. Monishiros after story is also included in the fandisc as well which will only make sense if you played S. I think Margaret also has an after story in A5.

The after stories for tsubame, monishiro, and margaret are after stories for their routes in the A series VN, not for the original 2 titles . Stupid mistake which I made. Thanks to Akshay for pointing out (and I dare consider myself a big Majikoi fan somemore ....)
Anyway if you think reading the original / S is absolutely necessary, let's just agree to disagree. I said that reading the original titles are preferable but not absolutely compulsory as imo the A series are sidestories and not direct FD / sequels

To tell the truth they're mostly the same one. But since apparently some people here were quite firm that both of those were different, I decided to make it that yuri here is girls love with the addition of sex scenes. As far as content concerned, I think they're more or less same one. So feel free to chose what term that was more comfortable to you.
As far as yuri/GL recommendations, in my list there's Pygmalion, Yurirei, and Seabed. Also if you want to explore more in regard of the genre, then I think both of Katahane and Flowers should be good as well, with the latter is a tetralogy with two out of four parts were translated. I hope that I can answer your question here.
