  1. It's finally released! I feel pretty emotional about this, since it was my first ever editing job. I'm so grateful to both VS and Ittaku for letting me work on this project and allowing me to get my foot into the industry. (I doubt I would've had my current job if I hadn't worked on this and met the people I've met through it.) To recap, I worked on the prologue, the main school common branch, and Miyabi's route. Unfortunately, due to time constraints (and the fact that I worked very slowly), I wasn't able to work on Tonoko's route, but I'm sure it'll still be great! I also want to thank Marche100 for helping me out by editing the branch school common route, Yuuna's route, and Shino's route. I know he did a really solid job on those! Anyway, I hope you guys enjoy it! I've been really looking forward to reading Yuuna's story.
  2. Honestly, it's hard to find good yandere characters/routes that don't just resort to copious amounts of blood and gore for shock value. Yandere isn't just about stabbing the MC silly, after all, but about the unhealthy and complete obsession the character has for them. It's a shame, since I looove yandere, but I still haven't come across any really good examples. I'm also strongly recommending against the actual game Yandere, especially since you want to avoid torture/blood/gore. Ugh. I couldn't stomach parts of it, and it's a really bad title all around. -Crimson Grey is pretty good, though it does have some blood. -I know it's pretty divisive, but I actually really liked DDLC for its yandere characters (and I'm pretty sure everyone at this point knows about it, so hopefully this doesn't count as a spoiler). This one also has some blood/violence and scary themes. -If you're fine with otome, Amnesia has a pretty interesting yandere route. -You might also want to check out Charon's games, which often have yandere characters. They're not anything great, but they're pretty short. -Full disclosure: I haven't come close to completing this one yet, but there's also My Harem Heaven is Yandere Hell. It's technically not playable in English. Instead, Verdelish played through it and translated it on Youtube. Again, I haven't finished watching it, so I have no idea how violent it actually gets.
  3. My favourite yuri title is definitely SeaBed, which has already been mentioned. Strawberry Vinegar is a pretty wholesome and cute yuri VN.
  4. I thought Sweet Pool's choices (reason vs. instinct) were really cool, especially visually. For those who haven't played it, all prompts have you chose if Youji should follow his logic or his instinct, and the game goes from there depending on which one you've chosen. The choices are shown on opposite corners of the screen as red and blue sort of...veiny things? It fits well with the whole body horror aspect of the game. I also like VNs with raising sim elements.
  5. Actually a few titles I hadn't heard of before, so that's something! I love The Real Her...also Prism (RIP).
  6. I don't remember what my true 'first' was- I do distinctly remember downloading a ROM of Pia Carrot 3.3 and desperately mashing through the Japanese dialogue in hope of seeing some anime boobs because I was a stupid horny teen. I think that was somewhere around 2004 or so? I've been aware of them since the early 2000's, at least. I'd consider my 'first' (in that it hooked me on the medium) to be Katawa Shoujo, back when the first act was released in 2009. Not very surprising or original, I guess.
  7. I'm so excited to see Tsui Yuri/Sisterly Bliss get an official release. Can't wait to play it!
  8. I offered to QC this a couple years ago, but never really heard anything after the first few months. I'd still be interested in helping out, though.
  9. Elfen Lied is a prime example of this imo.
  10. Can't wait to spend another 300 hours on this game instead of taking care of my real life responsibilities.
  11. Considering I've just started my first fan TL project , I can't give you much advice regarding editing for VNs. I have done some other editing, though (a poetry book and some articles/synopses). Generally you'll want to improve the readability of the writing you're working on. You'll take what's written and polish it up. You'll fix errors, shift words/sentences around if it reads better, check that words mean what they're intended to mean (and change them if they don't), and make sure the writing is consistent (ex. the book I worked on had about three different spellings of 'Claire' to refer to the same person). It's important to keep the author's style and intentions, though- you don't want to just completely rewrite the piece based on how you'd do it. Also, I think you might be a bit young. Hopefully this doesn't sound rude, but I think it's a good idea to finish high school and take some writing/English courses at a post-secondary level in order to make sure your skills are solid. I'm also not really sure how many people would be comfortable working with a minor if the VN has 18+ content (I definitely wouldn't be). It's good to be ambitious, though, so I hope you succeed!
  12. Oh wow! I really need to catch up on it, but I do remember liking it. Between this and the Kase-san OVA, it's going to be an exciting year for me. And I mean, I guess there's also Citrus...
  13. Tbh it doesn't seem like the type of yuri I'd be interested in, but I'm still willing to give pretty much any yuri a shot since there's so little of it translated. Unfortunately, I could really only help in the English department.
  14. If there's no recommended route order, I usually try to go for her first and then finish the rest. If I really liked her route, I'll replay it again at the end so I start and finish with her.
  15. Based on personal anecdotes, they don't appear to be especially effective (and, as Tymmur pointed out, do little to stop wildlife coming into contact with your dog). We have a fence, though, so I couldn't really tell you other than what I've heard.
  16. For me, it's thoroughly completing the VN- all routes, CGs, etc. The rare occasion where this isn't the case is usually because I find a VN too unbearable to continue any further. Either that, or I like one ending so much that I don't want to go through any others to "spoil" it. It's happened with Katawa Shoujo, DMMD, and Subahibi. It takes a few months, but I usually do go back to finish it, and then I just replay my favourite route again at the end. Of course, this is just my version of finishing. There's no one who's going to hold a gun to your head if you don't feel like reading through all the content. Maybe you like one route and you're satisfied with that ending- you could say it's finished for you then.
  17. Anime that made me cry the hardest (in one big burst towards the end): Angel's Egg Anime that made me cry the most overall (basically through the majority of it): Haibane Renmei...really beautiful and bittersweet, and really hit some raw emotions. The Ancient Magus' Bridge also seems to be a strong contender, considering I cried at 3 out of 6 or 7 episodes so far.
  18. Haven't gotten very far myself (I think I'm on episode 6 or 7), but it definitely hasn't stopped being a tearjerker so far.
  19. Currently juggling JJBA Part 4, Yuru Camp, and The Ancient Magus' Bride. And by juggle I mean I watch a few episodes in one sitting and then totally forget about it until several months later.
  20. I do like the aesthetic. I'm a sucker for cute things in general. In terms of anime and VNs, "cute girls doing cute things" is a pretty nice destresser because it's not really anything heavy or intellectual. You can just zone out and appreciate some cute girls. It is pretty hard to find stuff I actually like, though. Moe can certainly be used in serious stories, if done well. It can work to subvert audience expectations, or serve as a kind of 'cushion' for heavier subjects.
  21. I started watching Ai a while ago and watched a few videos of Luna, but I haven't really been following them much...I was planning to get into it during the summer when I have more free time. I think Luna's cuter, design-wise, but she can be a bit too loud/rowdy for my tastes.
  22. I love Kara no Shoujo so much...it completely destroyed me, but I love it. Beautiful somber art and music. It was the first time I could really understand the power art had, and its theme of obsession was really well done.
  23. Oh hey, my friends and I did a playthrough of this. It was fun since it was with my friends, but yeah, sucks otherwise. I think the only two "Oh god what did I get myself into" VNs were Yandere and Naked Butler. I think it's mainly because I read both of them blind, so I didn't know what to expect. Yandere- I love yandere, but I'm incredibly squeamish, so...you can probably guess how that affected my rating. I'm fine with some 2D blood and gore, but guro is just an instant no. I couldn't stomach some of the final sex scenes with Maika. The protag is also really unlikable, from what I remember. Naked Butler- SPEAKING OF UNLIKABLE PROTAGS...holy shit. This guy is an insufferable shit heel and I hate him a lot. I get now that this VN is supposed to be really silly and over-the-top, but it was a little too 'extreme' for me when I went into it blind. I might pick it up again some day, who knows. In terms of actual garbage, Deathtopia is basically unplayable. The translation is bad and pretty nonsensical, I'm pretty sure mine didn't have any sound, and the UI is godawful and completely counter-intuitive. I dropped it, but iirc from a review, you actually can't even finish it past a certain point.
