  1. Went through 3 different game engines and ultimately went back to Ren'Py. It doesn't look as flashy as Tyrano or VNM, but JAYSUS, it gets the job done. SOOOO CLOSE TO A WORKING DEMO. The prologue itself is around 13-14k words, which is roughly around half an hour of play, if one reads fast enough, I'spose. Have updated SSs to share: Really hoping to have the demo ready by the end of THIS WEEK. I'm just waiting for one CG scene to be colored/shaded.
  2. I don't. But I certainly don't wish for your project to burn to the ground. It just needs a lot of work. Cannot stress "a lot" enough.
  3. Anyone played The Letter? I'm going to dive into that tonight, after work.
  4. Watching Boku no Hero. Tried to give Mahou Shoujo Ore, but...meh. It's outrageous, but the jokes faded kind of fast for me. Towards episode 2, I was thinking "OF COURSE they would do that." Felt like they were going down a checklist of common tropes, checking them off going "Yep. Let's do this but in an unusual way." Not entirely the wrong way to go about things, but it just felt sort of gimmicky. I really want to see another season of One Punch Man or Mob Psycho 100 =_=;;; (ffs, no more Yowapedal)
  5. I was looking forward 1st episode of the 3rd season of Boku no Hero Academia, but obviously, it would just be a flashback episode =_=;;; (luckily the 2nd episode just came out yesterday) Other than that, I really don't care for anything else. Violet Evergarden kind of shattered my heart with the way it ended the last episode (Why?! Why do you Japanese love your wabi-sabi aesthetic?! Is it too much to ask for a happy ending?!) so I'm still reeling and rewatching episodes of Polar Bear Cafe. Not a new anime but I tried to watch Re:Zero on Friday to understand what all the hype was all about and gave up around episode 8. Did not enjoy the whole die-redo the last episode again feel and felt like the plot went nowhere (duh).
  6. Wow, you actually got your stuff? I've been following the fiasco online and it looks like a total shitstorm :/
  7. Just an FYI, please don't say the above about your book. Author to author, it makes you sound arrogant. Other people can call your book profound and raw. You can't. Also, this is me nitpicking, but there are no original books anymore. Don't you know the last TRULY original book was Abbott's Flatland? (slightly tongue-in-cheek, but seriously, there is no such thing as originality anymore. Everything is based off/inspired by everything else now.)
  8. Haha!!!!! (...guuuhhhh...noooo...you discovered the secret routteeee.....)
  9. Yep. You caught me. I ripped off the title to a movie (I didn't, btw.)
  10. (Whelp...here goes nothing. This is a game set in JP, but I have a good reason for this, I swear to God!) PS: I LOVE YOU (R18) VNDB Website Demo Team: Eunsun Shin, Toxicmilkk (colorist), Lizm (colorist), Red L. Jameson (editor) I’ve never thought about falling in love. I’m not even sure know what that means. My parents divorced when I was seven, but even before then, for as long as I could remember, their marriage was in tatters, both of them desperately hanging on to something they secretly knew was over. ------- College junior Kei Asakawa doesn’t believe in love. After a childhood spent watching her parents tear each other apart, she wants nothing to do with affairs of the heart. But one special day, she meets three men who could change her outlook on life—and love—forever. PS: I Love You is a dating sim and visual novel in the otome “maiden” game genre, featuring over 100,000 words of original story, stunning illustrations, and three swoon-worthy men to choose from: - Naoki Takayama, the happy-go-lucky baseball star who’s been best friends with Kei since childhood - Haruhito Satou, the cold, efficient businessman hiding a heart of gold and an impoverished past - Shinichi Kougure, Kei’s playboy cafe-owner boss with walls of ice around his heart and a boy band history he’ll be forced to revisit Can Kei win over any of the men who’ve caught her eye, and if so, which one? The road to love won’t be easy, between career-ending injuries, long distance relationships, endless paparazzi, and secret meet-ups, but you’ll decide what path Kei takes. ~70,000 - 100,000k word count (including common routes) Multiple Good Ends (Lukewarm ends, no rapey bad ends) Original OP song composed by nostraightanswer and recorded by rubysakura Naoki's route is free to play, Haruhito/Shinichi is an additional $5 each The game, as of 4.6.2018, is about 25% complete. I've been focusing a great deal of my time working on the art (god, there's so much art) and unfortunately, the script's kind of fallen by the wayside. The synopsis/plotlines are all, er, plotted, so it's just a matter of writing the damn thing. I'm a fast writer, though, so I anticipate being able to complete AT LEAST Naoki's route by the end of this month, which is when I'll send it off to my beta testers. But I'm hoping to have a demo of PS: I<3 U available to play by the end of next week. The script is finished; it's about 15k and the demo will end when you get to the choosing scene. I think a May 30th release is wholly possible. Once the assets are complete, it's a matter of finishing the script, sending it off to the editor, and then programming it. (actually, now that I think about it, May 30 is not that far off, OTL) Once I release the demo on itchio, I'll post up a short questionaire for you folks to fill out, if you would be so kind. No questionaire. Just tell me your thoughts
  11. *_* I was actually going to start this today!
  12. I'm waving from the corner. *_*
  13. There was a news article a while ago about a Chinese math professor who did the same thing. Apparently, she was a topnotch lecturer, but her kids never paid attention to her (but how good is she if her students don't pay attention?) so she resorted to wearing provocative clothing to gain and keep their attention :/
  14. haha, you know me too well. I'm just happy it's darker. Honestly, I did enjoy FLML, but the saccharine sweetness left a bad taste in my mouth when I played for too long
  15. Living in China, I have access to some pretty cheap tech and one of my acquisitions has been a Teclast Tbook 16 Pro. A Surface clone, It dual boots Android/Windows 10, has a detachable keyboard and feels pretty nice (for the price). It's a little heavier than the iPad, but it's got a great screen (for the price) and I've had no problems running any otoge/VNs on it. The battery life is kind of crappy (about 4-5 hours), but honestly, if I'm playing VNs in bed, I'm not going to be playing for more than an hour before I fall asleep anyways.
  16. Oh my You're a prime example of the kind of person I want playing my otoges. Julie Garwood's older stuff is great. (and of course, nothing needs to be said about The Nora)
  17. Welcome to Fuwa! (I'm the opposite from you, I lurk in the VN subreddit, but I post here most often)
  18. I HEARD YOU WERE INTO ROMANCE... ...haha;; What kind of romance? Care to elaborate? What are your favorite games/books in terms of romance/drama?
  19. Welcome to Fuwa! Your project looks fascinating, good luck!
  20. Yes, I know. It's categorized as otome, and that's fine. I just pointed out that I personally wouldn't consider it an otoge . The script is effing hilarious, though. That made up for my disappointment in the lack of emotion or drama :3
  21. For me, an otome game's main theme is romance/love. While FLML was entertaining in its own right, actually the romance was pretty light. There was very little romantic tension between the characters and there's a lot of emphasis in the physical aspect of H, but the usual "navel" gazing you get in otome games such as Hakuoki/Hiiro no Kakera/Neo Angelique, was not present. The game doesn't take itself very seriously, which could turn on or turn off a player. Me, I'm into the drama, but there was no drama, no back and forth. IMO, it's only an otoge in the barest definition of the word. But feeling-wise, it left me cold and I absolutely DESPISED the main character, Ema. (I ended up turning off her voice because it was so grating to hear).
  22. I dunno, after this... I wasn't so sure.
