“I hate everything and everyone,” the girl sneers. Hatred, despair, envy, bloodlust, pessimism, compassion, persistence and anxiety—burdened with all manner of negative emotion, she mutters to herself…. “I want to be happy.”

With his parents moving to America for work, Jinno Kyoji returns to his hometown, Kurehito City, after several years of absence to live with his mother's cousin, the free-spirited Saitama Yamiko. There, he encounters several girls he shares a history with.

Kazuyagi Akane, the strong-spirited tomboy he grew up with.
Namiki Aoi, a gloomy girl who's Akane's best friend.
Misono Kiika, a graceful, good-natured classmate of his from his old school.

In three years of absence, his hometown and its people have changed ever so slightly. Despite some hiccups, Kyoji's peaceful days in his hometown begin.

At least until he meets a mysterious girl on his way to his first day at school. Violet hair. Large, striking eyes. Skin that's paler than the driven snow.

"Welcome home," she says. "My name is Yuka. Remember it."

And wherever Yuka is, one mysterious, inexplicable figure is always nearby—a monstrous man by the name of Gore Screaming Show.
Kyoji's encounter with these two figures marks the end of his peaceful days—as they bring chaos, violence, madness and despair into this world.

Will Kyoji and the girl he loves be able to escape the madness and return to their peaceful days? Or will they—

H2O √ after and another Complete Story Edition

    Release
Download the patch (Google drive, Mediafire) (ver. 1.01, dated September 8, 2023)
    Description
In H2O -Footprints in the Sand-, Hirose Takuma is a blind middle school student, though the cause for his blindness is undetermined. After his mother died unexpectedly, it left a deep emotional scar on him, causing him to become lonely and reserved. Due to this, Takuma moves from the city out into a rural area to live with his uncle and Takuma is enrolled into a new middle school. There, he meets several new girls, including the firm and obstinate Kohinata Hayami, the kind and obliging Kagura Hinata, and the cheerful and mysterious Otoha.
In √ after and another, there are new after stories for two of the heroines from H2O (Hayami and Hinata), plus new routes for Yui and Hamaji/Yukiji, the latter of which also unlocks Maki's route.
A version merging both games into one was later released, H2O √ after and another Complete story Edition.
    H2O VNDB: https://vndb.org/v473
√ after and another VNDB: https://vndb.org/v561
    Where to purchase
The game can be purchased legally from DMM (https://dlsoft.dmm.co.jp/detail/mnphs_0007/), but a Japanese proxy/VPN may be necessary to purchase it. That is where I obtained my copy. It goes on sale quite often, although it's pretty cheap even at full price, considering its age.
    Project

The English localization project is being conducted by Studio Frisay, fresh off the completed Imasugu Onii-chan ni Imouto datte Iitai! project. As before I (Tooko) will be doing all of the translating and editing of the script, along with probably most of the image editing, and any engine work that needs to be done (of which is very little).
    Studio Frisay discord server
    Progress
Programming: The game is built on the BGI/Ethornell engine, as with Imaimo before it, so I'm already familiar with how the engine works and have all the resources necessary to apply any hacks and build the completed patch once everything is done. In fact, there's a lot less work this time around on that front because the structure is a lot simpler, being a NVL game instead of an ADV game.
Translation: The translation officially commenced on August 10, 2022 and was completed on January 28, 2023, although progress was initially very slow because of the ongoing work for the Imaimo patch at the time. However, I already translated a decent amount of the script (20%) by the time I announced the project a couple months later in October. The game has 73,547 lines across 167 scenario files split up between the common route and six character routes:
    Common: 6953 / 6953: 100%
    Hayami: 20620 / 20620: 100%
    Hinata: 14112 / 14112: 100%
    Yui: 13151 / 13151: 100%
    Hamaji: 4973 / 4973: 100%
    Maki: 5437 / 5437: 100%
    Otoha: 8301 / 8301: 100%
    Total: 73547 / 73547: 100%
Images and videos: Aside from minor tweaks, all of the in-game images in need of editing are now completed. Editing of images is shared between me and nReus, who will also be typesetting lyrics onto the 9 OP/ED videos. The images include about 110 for the UI, and about 335 for the rest of the game, although most of those are minor variations on each other, so the actual number of unique images is much less.
Editing: The editing of the game's text officially commenced on February 10, 2023, and it was completed on July 10, 2023.
QC: The quality check phase involves going through a normal playthrough to check for any problems with the patch files and their rendering. This should took about two months, completing in early September. The patch is scheduled for release on September 8, 21:00 UTC.

I actually started to translate a little bit after somehow piecing together how to get RLdev working and whatnot, so I'm definitely down for being part of a team going forward. I'll continue doing my own efforts in the meantime and we can make a system for how we want to do it. For reference, my Discord is Mhmd_FVC#8760
I also started working on converting the PS2 version voices to the PC version to be an added option, because I detest how overall cringe/low quality the PC version voices are in comparison, whereas the PS2 voices are fantastic IMO and are part of why I fell in love with Snow (I'd played it on PS2 because I happened to come across that version of it in a Japanese game store, knew nothing about it but I had a feeling it might be good so I just took it). While I'm at it, I'm adjusting the ORG files so that the feature in RealLive where you can toggle individual characters' voices can be added and actually work. And speaking of the PS2 version, I'm thinking an "all ages" patch would be a good idea to have as an option for... reasons. I'm OK with continuing to do this stuff solo, since the translation is the real behemoth anyhow and not everyone might agree with me on this.

The project isn't alive, per se. I had moved onto being the project lead for Alka Translations and working on things such as Angel Beats, Miazora Fine Days, Summer Pockets Reflection Blue, etc. But now that I'm no longer part of the team, I'm certainly interested in trying to reignite interest in putting together a different team for this once I actually have the time to do so. And if so, I'll be sure and update things here!

If Branch here really require very different translation choice, well hopefully you'll be able to find the new translator here so good luck with that. While granted the Branch would likely in line with traditional moege (And I know on how you have weak affinity with that), it's still nice to see if Branch translated here seeing that some people may show interest in the heroines from there. In any case good luck with the rest of the work here, and for once I like that Pulltop's policy in regard of censored overseas here (Mostly because it mean that they'll need to cut a lot of sex scenes from Harugi here, and thus they wouldn't want to localized it therefore less risk on C&D (My assumption here)).

See, that's exactly what I was talking about. I can already tell that based on what you said here, you definitely aren't gonna be a fan of either Nukitashi or, for that matter, the VN that's coming out in just a couple of days, Sankaku Renai. I can already tell you right now that both of these are gonna be full of "idiotic humour", "shitty 4chan memes", and maybe some "low class american idiots swearing" (not sure about the third one, but with TBAC being the main TL for both Fureraba and Sankaku Renai, it's quite possible he may have used that style of swearing again... that is, if he considered it appropriate for the VN in question). That's just how comedy VNs work. I don't know how else you could properly localize these. They are pretty much dumb in Japanese, and so I don't see any problem with them sounding dumb in English too (and hence one of the major reasons I avoid moege with accent on comedy like a plague - they are a huge pain in the ass to work on, and whatever you do, someone's always bound to consider your comedy writing "idiotic").
Also, that last piece of advice I marked in your comment... Man, do you even realize what "make it as widely acceptable as possible" even means? I hear that all the time and I am really starting to believe you people have no idea how many disagreements among everyone on this there are. "Widely acceptable" implies that whoever's working on VN translations should go out and always measure how many people want translations to be in one or the other style (I've seen some folks trying to measure this by doing surveys) and then act according to the results. Do you realize how unfeasible doing this all the time really is? First of all, even the fans themselves don't really know what they want. I see so many disagreements between people who want honorifics/no honorifics, who want liberal/non-liberal translations, who want dumb memes/no dumb memes, who want masterful prose writing (LOL at this one!)/no masterful prose necessary... etc, etc. How's one to decide on what to do?! Who's able to satisfy all these contradictory demands?! I don't know anyone who has ever seriously tried to measure what the VN fans want, and it's probably for a good reason. Even if they could, there's just no way you would be able to satisfy everyone, or for that matter "as widely acceptable as possible" size of community. "As widely acceptable" is just a myth. You don't know what's really "widely acceptable" as you're often gonna see complaints from a sizeable portion of community no matter what you do. There's just no way to accurately measure this, especially if you consider the new fans who might be coming in and who aren't necessarily gonna be weebs.
And that's one of the major reasons why I believe translators like Arunaru and his ilk do what they do. They don't bother with "as widely as acceptable as possible". There's no such thing to begin with. So... what's a TLer gonna do then? Simple. They judge according to what sounds good to them and how they imagine the VN should read like. This sort of bias in translation... you get it all the fucking time, no matter who's at the helm doing the translation. I can tell you that every TLer out there has his own fucking way of translating something, and that's why no 2 translations are ever the same. No, I don't approve of translators who overlocalize and invent up silly shit just for the sake of novelty (no, I definitely don't approve of random Spanish lines that feel forced and out of the setting at hand), but that's just how things in this industry go. I don't let my "preference on style" cloud my judgement. Otherwise, I'd have to start despising the so-called "rewriting" that so many translators do. In fact, all the translations that we read are in fact nothing more than re-imagining of the Japanese works they are based on. Even the most literal translation you could dig out is still a re-imagining of the original work at hand (just remember that Japanese doesn't really have accurate English equivalents for many of its words and expressions and you'll understand what I mean by this).
So you can recognize the inclusion/exclusion of honorifics as a style choice, but not "idiotic humour", "shitty 4chan memes", and "low class american swearing"?
Tell me, have you read anything in pure Japanese so far? And if yes, imagine you were a TL. How would you translate this commonly used simple phrase from Japanese "よろしくおねがいします"? I'll tell you... if you have any sanity as a translator, you won't ever TL it as "Please treat me well.", no matter the context (I've yet to see a crazy-enough TLer who would do that). Basically, what all TLers do here is, they "rewrite" it every time they see it, depending on the scene, character, tone, etc. You people have to understand that translation work is more art than science. What you refer to as "rewriting the entire fucking thing" is exactly how all translations in a nutshell are. They are essentially someone's rewriting (I called it "reimagining" earlier in my post) of the VN at hand. Unless you're reading VNs in Japanese, you are always gonna be reading someone's reimagination of the VN based of its original. And while we can criticize a TLer's accuracy of translation, his creativity to carry over the Japanese lines, etc, etc. I would never go and say that TLers are "void of rationality and critical thinking" for just being liberal with their reimagination of the work at hand. In fact, I think totally opposite here. If they didn't do this type of stuff, then I'd question their sanity and rationality.
I am in no way endorsing what NekoNyan did with Fureraba. I didn't even read it myself to judge their work yet. That said... if the biggest complaint one can make about a translation work is "swearing", then I don't really believe that translation was as bad as some are making it out to be. We have far, far bigger problems with translations nowadays. Personally, I am more pissed off about poor grammar, typos, and overall QC issues plaguing so many of official releases coming out nowadays. I consider that to be real shoddy work and that's what I am more worried about than some localization choice. Also... "people at large complain about this" - how many people? Did you measure? I am asking you this because I tend to see a lot of pro and anti-sentiments regarding this. I've seen a lot of praise from some of the more casual VN readers, loving Fureraba's localization. And then there are more weeb-oriented fans who absolutely abhor the localization of Fureraba. So which one is the right way? The casuals? The weebs? How do you satisfy all of these people at once? Is it even doable? No, I definitely don't think so.

Considering how most people feel about it, work will start on making a patch using honorifics and rewriting scenes that had been adapted to make sense without using them, It'll be posted here when it's ready.
@Merkom Oh yeah, you are right, that line was definitely a mistake on my part, I'll fix it on both versions of the patch.

About that picture, I am well aware of it and it is indeed good constructive feedback, so it's all good. Also note that all the lines in that picture are in Eris' chapter only and not the other chapters. The truth is, Eris' chapter was translated by another translator, and while I did TLC of it, it seems I didn't do a thorough enough TLC (I didn't think it would be that serious), so no excuses there. Hence, I'm currently relooking into Eris' chapter (now that I'm done translating Licia's chapter) and ironing out the spotty translation mistakes in there.
That said, I might release another partial patch which will not only feature the fixes in Eris' chapter, but also adds Saint Irene's chapter (Chapter 3). We'll see how things go
More importantly though, it would be great if I can get feedback on the prologue and Fione's chapter, because those 2 chapters are translated by me, and there hasn't been any major feedback on those 2 chapters.
Eris' chapter is also the reason why I'm translating this VN solo now btw.

They pointed specific lines and what the errors were, from where i stand it's obviously just good old constructive criticism and shouldn't be disregarded as just hate from "big brained jops".

In this instance, they have presented evidence and concrete problems in the lines (I do not know Japanese, but those with cursory understanding of it could perhaps understand the evidence). This takes work and effort. It is most definitely not one of those instances you are referencing, where they claim the translation is bad and put no further effort into the criticism. This is constructive.
As for whether the fact that the translation may have issues affects the experience of an English player, that is a different beast entirely, and not in question here.

To apply the patch, extract the files and drop them on the game folder.
There will be a link on the main post with the most recent patch, also, we are searching for an image editor to help us translate the game UI, the patch will be updated once that's done, other than that, next patch should be a common route patch, which is about 13k lines(Counting prologue lines)

This image has a mixture of straight-up errors and just poor TL choices that aren't technically wrong but are pretty bad in context. I tried to stick to posting lines that the majority of people would think "That's bad" upon seeing. There were a decent number of lines that I considered bad, but not did not include because I could see some people arguing that it was just a liberal translation or something. So really, this image is me being fairly generous.

The smoking gun of this image is that this is all in the first 20 minutes of the game. Specifically, I watched two Japanese "lets play" Daitoshokan videos, each 10 minutes long on autoplay. Reading normally, it would take maybe five minutes to get to this point. There's this many errors that early into the game, and it hasn't even started yet. This is the tip of the shit iceberg. Five minutes into a like 30 hours long game. There's 29 errors compiled in this image, 1800 minutes of game divided by 5 is 360 chunks this long, this number of errors times 360 is 10,440 errors. At this rate, the game will have 10,440 errors in total. Nearly every other line has some issue, and every third or so has a straight up TL error. If we're being generous and fiddle with the math such that it takes 10 minutes to get to this point, we can lower it down to about 5,000 errors. But like I said, that's being generous. Ouch.

Unfortunately, this is what happens when someone with a weak grasp of Japanese translates something. They have to guess a lot, and they rarely fully understand the point of a conversation, so they make mistakes. Constantly. Daitoshokan is that in a nutshell.
