Thanks for the suggestion! Unfortunately, I have already played through Va-11 Hall-A. In fact, it's actually one of my top five.

My favorite languages have to be anything Slavic (Though mostly Polish), Arabic, and Italian.

Moenovel has to stop. What a trash company thinking only about money and nothing of the fans. Not to mention the atrocious translations that they do.

If you turn 18 in in 2018, then age 9-10 would be 2009-2010. Back then the only releases were in Japanese or some Chinese translation patch. You must have been 12 when it came out in English. I get the feeling that you know kanji better than I do.
I know just the guy to call to deal with that issue. Onizuka Eikichi seems eager to fight those dangerous tora-uma animals

I mostly go by Pomelo (or some variation if the name's already taken) online.
I've been aware of VNs via dating sims/anime/etc. for quite some time, but I don't quite remember what my first one was. My real 'first', in the sense that it sparked my interest in the medium, was Katawa Shoujo's demo back in 2009. My favourite VN is Kara no Shoujo. 
I'm also pretty interested in editing, so I'm hoping to dip my toes into the scene once my university hell is finished next month.

That's definitely a good idea. Anything with the name MoeNovel attached to it should be avoided and shunned at all times.

They're not bad. They're just the worst VN localization company.
MoeNovel has a seriously bad reputation of releasing poor translations with cut h-scenes to Steam just to make quick money without giving any effort to keep the spirit of the original writing.
Cross Channel is a notable VN in that it already has 2 translations and both of them are poor due to Cross Channel being a uniquely hard VN to translate. 
Add those two together and you get the 3rd butchering of Cross Channel.

I loooove old games aesthetics, but I play more games emulating those old 8bit stuff than actual old games, since compatibility problems...... But then again, what I usually consider old is "released before I was born" meaning before '93. Soooo yeah.
And I hate the "it didn't age well" argument with a passion. A good game is a good game, regardless of graphics. Blame the art style or the plot if you didn't find the game appealing, not how old it is!!!

As a Koakuma lover, I give you 9/10, but I'm not Kaguya so you'll gain huge amounts of nothing from me.
But Sakuya exists, so...

5 base,+5 for touhou, -2 for red hair, -1 for being this koakuma design instead of the imo much cuter short haired one. 7/10.
