  1. I'll see your 100. With sincere respect to those involved - don't wish to insult with paltry "bribes"; so, even if it's later... I'm in.
  2. My bad, my bad - humble apologies. So - did you get the rest of the demosaic and whatnot all working properly anyway? I thought it was pretty cool of HopelessHiro to dig until he got those working - it'd be a shame if slight variances in config or something broke them. I _bet_ it wouldn't be that difficult to port the band-aid removal... hmmmmmmm.. I haven't seen the band-aid'd version - I was assuming that it's just like the Bathhouse scenes, with towels removed. It's a handful of scenes, but only a few of them, iirc, would even show the "band-aid area". Let me know - I've been looking at the work that these patches entailed (but, clearly I don't have that "other" version, lol..). If it's worth it - I'll go over what HH did for the Steam patch, see what a band-aid removal would entail. This VN - I've been working on a backlog for like, a year - but this Maitetsu - once I got used to it (the Freemote animations) it is probably the best looking VN I've ever seen. Really beautiful game - and the MC is actually decent, ahem, except when he's not, heh.
  3. Man, I really stepped in it. Other than what are clearly my stated opinions, what I said about their policies is true, and can be backed up -- not that I would go to that trouble.... phew.. I'm actually a s/w developer, lol. 2+ decades... They thought I meant a real virus, lol.. oh man. Sorry, not my intent to drag anyone else in to this. hah.. I know I got a tad randy in my response to being called sickening, lol. But - I really thought I was somewhat innocently stating my opinion and experiences. Their backlog of banned VNs is quite long - it'll be interesting to see how they "fix" some of those. BTW - I use Origin, and it is not even close to as intrusive as Steam - the binaries are the same ones you get from a boxed product - not at all true for Steam... the list of diffs is long. But - I'm not interested enough - folks will do what they want, which is just fine. There used to be a religious thing going on twixt PC and Mac zealots... I hadn't realized that it had crossed over to ... game distribution, heh. I'm wary of any ET that wants to phone home every time it gets a tick of the clock - know what I mean? :-) Thanks SW for clarifying what I'd naively thought obvious. Cheers, Sir.
  4. There are very few games that are only available on Steam. They ARE a middleman, and they do use their own executable wrappers to tie you to their platform. I apologize for offending you - but if you find it sickening -- then... take some antacid or something. I sitll say Steam is bogus. And - they've been _talking_ about changing for a long time... yet they still promote, overall, censorship and dissection of VNs. I do know what I'm talking about - I used Steam long ago, and I've kept up on what they're about. Their interference with and objections to H-patches have a documented history. I knew there'd be folks jumping to Steam's defense - but surprised by your vehemence. Steam's a virus as far as I'm concerned. And - _nearly_ any title you find there you can find VIRUS-FREE at other resellers, without having to separately search for and (newest trend, due to the disparity between 18+/AA) purchase an H-patch.
  5. Understood. Don't want to leave the money just sitting there on account for sure. Good luck. I am sure that HH will respond and let you know, but - I'm not sure about the band-aid removal working on Steam version.
  6. First - I mean no critcism, no offense. Purely curiousity. Do you have access to Fakku? I just wonder why so many people use Steam... I mean, those who are _not_ offended by 18+ content. The idea of buying from Steam and then DL'ing an 18+ patch seems crazy to me. I don't understand why anyone - other than under-18 or... repressed, judgemental prudes... would support Steam? They are and have always been an unnecessary middle-man for games... Injecting their binaries to monitor and control one's access to titles, etc... If you want the original, 18+ content, then just -stay away from Steam- entirely. If you have no access to other re-sellers, I'm surprised. I don't think the band-aid removal is intended for the Steam Version - but... HH has been pretty awesome to even work so hard to get a Steam solution. I personally would encourage people to avoid Steam like the plague. For me, they represent either censorship or "Big Brother" - both are bad ;-) Just imho...
  7. like minds... :-) It's no wonder ittaku is aprilia1k's favorite translator...
  8. I liked 3 better by far, so HH - you're not alone. 2 is too bright, and also somewhat crude in a way (crude drawing I mean... not anything about morality lol) Perhaps people want more realism added to 3?... Honestly, I'd opt for an "invisible" option... dicks be ugly man, fact. if it's got to be seen, don't make it absurdly large like yer fisting a girl and... well - opinion is just opinion, but I just prefer the major eye-catcher to be the girl's nice parts, and not the guy's ... definitely, well - imho.
  9. Hi, HH - First, I apologize for this, considering you've worked so hard and answered so many questions already. One thing I would like to clarify - I highlighted the line in your post that I am referring to. From what I have read (and I read all the posts, for the most part) - Heliosaurus patch works on older release and newer, Fakku release; your patch works only on the newer, Fakku release. I have read a couple times and this is what was stated. SO - IF I don't want the "bandaids" version (meaning I want your patch) - I _must_ have the newer, Fakku release first. Is this correct? (No bandaids only possible with newer, Fakku edition). THANKS very very much for all your efforts. If I get a chance, I will happily buy you a large coffee drink :-) Cheers, aprilia1k
  10. I'm beginning to think that this is not your absolute favorite VN, am I right? ;-) Is there anything redeeming about it, in your opinion? I mean, like - after the first 30 hours I guess. Thanks.
  11. Having just put Kajitsu down, I had to go looking for other's thoughts, perhaps even some commiseration - thus I'm a little late to this thread. What can I say - hated it. Only because I don't like smug, mean-spirited, d-bag protagonists, and I'm not too fond of heroines that behave that way either. A little, sure - but that was 20 hours of it... and how quickly that loli went from "cute kid" to... just ... ugh... It's really odd that the one thing we have in common - liking Michiru, the deredere, would-be tsundere - is one prominent reason I didn't like Kajitsu, and what I found most annoying about the common route. She was constantly being bullied by the jerk protag (I have more colorful words for him, trust me), his little loli was even beating on her physically while he applauded and praised her for it... telling her to tie the ropes tighter next time so that Michiru would become "rope-drunk" and then be more ... compliant. I know - comedy, right? And I am just amazed that some folks said they laughed their ass off. Really. Amazed. Wow. The MC is abusive and yet clueless as to how bizarre of a person he was, while being a typical eroge perv coupled with a perfectly smug d-bag. He couldn't imagine why anyone would "stare at water" because Michiru liked looked out at the ocean. And the robot, Sachi - she may have been taken advantage of, but even she repeatedly stomps on Michiru's self-esteem, despite that she would strip her clothes off in public just at the perv's suggestion she should "show panty" sometimes... which itself was just weird. She misunderstood almost EVERYTHING, and yet even she felt superior and was snide and even vicious about little Michiru. That girl never got a break. Then she was deathly afraid of riding in the truck with Amane, so Yuugi, the dbag had the other girls get in the car, then he got scared and tricked Michiru, as he always did, making HER drive with Amane again - after apparently suffering injuries and trauma from previous experience. Such a gentleman. No wait - he's the opposite, that's right. An abusive, stuck-up asswipe. Sorry - that's a fact. Even if ya liked it - the guy was a jerk. So - in a way, aside from the nauseatingly repetitive _attempts_ at humor - where the Loli suddenly alternates between talking like a trucker and talking like a teen-hooker, knowledgeable in the ways to please old men in a brothel, or Sachi will once again behave far more moronically than the one girl she insults in every scene, while the protag never berates her for lacking a brain, only to ... oh yeah, Michiru will try to act tsundere for some reason, yet always be called idiot, simpleton, etc.. despite the fact that she's clearly more observant and on-the-ball than the smug protag... - Oh! That was the humor, right!? Michiru the fake-tsundere is an idiot again, right Yuuji? Ummm - "rope-drunk", huh? I think I might not want to see this guy's H-scenes at all, lol.. jeeez. Oh - this was all funny, of course. Amaaaazing. One other thing - sometimes, HYPE about a game really does far surpass any that the game actually deserves. So - repetitive as watching paint dry, and - really tired of seeing the only girl that seemed like she was actually nice getting abused, psychologically and physically. And - if you're going to say "it's humor, idiot!" ... just save it. I know what humor is. Even in that mess, it couldn't decide between drama that's humorous or humor that's dramatic or... it had these untertones, fairly dark - sandwiched between that repetitive grade-school slapstick. I am getting a laugh now though at least. From the thread. But - Kajitsu SUCKED.
  12. Cheers! to Yuma owning! I guess it's .. called "necro" or something, to respond to a multi-years old thread, so apologies up-front if I'm guilty. The "To Heart 2 X-Rated English patch" was recently released, at least I read that it's pretty new. In any event, I've just played my 2nd route, and I haven't been able to find any discussions that aren't a couple years old... If I should move this to a different thread that I missed, or even if I should just remove it, just let me know... SO - I can relate to your replies here... I mean - I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that _many_ of us were frustrated with the protag takaaki at some point, during some of the routes. His tendency of inaction, inability to say what needs be said, etc.. for large parts of a route - but I'm finding that "ineffectual MC" is pretty typical for these types of VN (Romance, "Moege/Charage ?"). And for the two routes I have completed so far, Manaka and Yuma routes, there is definitely some frustration (esp. Manaka's route for me). So, ya just deal with the frustration best as ya can if it feels worth it. For the Heroines - I think I might be a bit atypical in my judgement of Heroines - I tend to appreciate the good and overlook the bad/annoying up to a fair degree. I liked both, and in fact I love Yuma (I loved Manaka too, to be honest).. Point here might be that the common route portion is really not enough to make a fair assessment of what these characters are all about - as is typical, they're all hiding things, and have backstory that can be pretty touching and/or interesting. Again, I'm not the hyper-critical VN enthusiast because as a would-be-writer, I know how much more difficult it is than it looks to maintain an accessible, immersive story experience, esp. while trying to keep things "light" (it's far easier to go all out with hardship, tragedy and heartbreak imho) It seems that the clueless, indecisive, "spiineless" MC traits come out in order to create or exacerbate drama, and perhaps more obvious - just to delay conflict-resolution that would otherwise bring a route/story quickly to it's end; frustration city. The Clueless MC is an easy alternative to really great character & story development, what with deadlines and so forth to deal with, not to mention the heartbreaking lack of inspired-genius that we hope will always appear right when we need it but often doesn't. I can live with the clueless idiot MC, begrudgingly, but - aargh - what's got me a bit sideways right now ... hell, it's probably spoiler material come think of it, is... Similar vibe from another VN - MAJIKOI spoiler here: Note - I'm not trying to criticize or pick fights at all. I'm looking for any others who just might get what I'm saying.. A little commiseration perhaps, heh.. I only started reading VNs in July, but I've been reading them non-stop practically - every day, since. I'm learning Japanese, and I'm determined (languages seem to come to me relatively quickly, but this is the most challenging yet) - so at some point I won't be depending on the translation efforts of others, but I'm several month's away from that at minimum... Anyway, I'm going to say that in this genre, right now, my favorite VN has been "Wagamama High Spec" - I have a very high opinion of pretty much all aspects of that VN. Underneath, it continually surprised and impressed me - and it was definitely not limited to vanilla in the H, which arrived very late in-game but was reasonably plentiful once it arrived, incl bonus etc.... Played "Seinarukana ... Eternity Sword 2" which was more than just "H.S. Romance" for sure, and it's a favorite too, but it's quite different than the other VNs - but one thing they have in common is that the MC remained a real "good guy" even while banging lol.. Kouki did have some little bit of playfully sadistic sex at times, but never the first time - where he's very sensitive to the heroine's feelings etc.. - and never overboard. Let's see - "Hatsukoi", some aspects were great, including visuals, and overall liked it; MC was pretty disappointing at times here too; "Koisuru Natsu No Last Resort", Protag was mostly really good in this, far less spineless than others. Also like the heroines, esp. Umi - earnest, smart airhead whose naivete is tied to her backstory-- H and Art, esp for Umi, is VERY GOOD (She's quite beautiful. heh..), "Hara Kano" (surprised by the overall common theme of all endings (conception of "love child", preg-sex), but ehh, had fun anyway), recently started ToHeart2 obviously, which I'm trying to find a way to re-connect with... and a couple others whose names escape me right now.. Extreme apologies for my overly-verbose first post. I'm afraid to play any more routes now... don't want another mind-f... though this would likely be ok in Tama-nee's route I suppose, where it's least likely to happen... Well, cheers - Stephen
