  1. I heard you can dry things with uncooked rice. Never tried it, though. Otherwise, I use it as a doll stuffing so I can summon cursed spirits. >:) JK.
  2. As for OP (though I have yet to watch the show since I found this through AmaLee), I listen to this everyday: Another one since this is literally the first anime I watched: ED's? Hmmm... oHow about the second ED from Higurashi? Or this ED from Another (which I find melancholic): Fun Fact: It's usually the OP that gets me hooked to an anime.
  3. I have no problems if my waifu is moe. I like it that way. The only things I care about is her intelligence (she must be at least aware of what's happening or can connect the dots if possible), her physical appearance (not too skinny nor chubby, but pleasing for the eyes... especially when she blushes), and someone who is quirky. If she's tsun and hot, oh! That's the best one.
  4. The first question is, "What do I need to study?" That way, I can assess how much time it will take me to go through the material or learn/reinforce what's being taught. Second question, "Do you understand what you're studying?" If not, ask questions, research, work it out, link it with your past lessons or other fields, etc. I don't overstudy. Learned it the hard way. I try to prioritize what needs to be done first depending on my mood. I'll go for the easiest if I need a warm-up first and don't want to worry about the small bits later on, or I do the reverse so I have less to worry about. Either way, the best indicator for me, if I'm doing it right, is that I don't feel tired prematurely. If you need to replenish your energy, take a walk. Don't go on the internet because I found it the most distracting thing when I write... unless I need to look up something. I suggest, with rote learning, you try to memorize things within a set time period (do the Pomodoro Technique if you wish), never longer. Try sensory association if that's possible. Use your emotions if you're memorizing a speech or a poem. I remember things more when I associate them with something significant or anything that I love. It's the reason why you might remember every defendant/killer in Ace Attorney than the names of the bones in the body. Analogy might not check out, but eh. That's what I think anyway. Oh, and try to sleep at least 6-8 hours. You'll find your brain best functioning within the first few hours of consciousness. If you wake up with a headache, do something else before you start studying. You can cram if all else fails, but good luck with that bag o' spilling. Sometimes, I live. Other times, I don't. So the next time you study, set aside time for it and be smart about planning. And get some sleep if you can.
  5. This is my childhood: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W4VTq0sa9yg The Kingdom Hearts series I find a rich source of soundtracks to listen to while studying. If I had to choose one other than "Dearly Beloved" or "Xion's Theme," I would choose Ven's theme. Hmmm... Now that I think about it, almost every character theme is great. Give the others a try, too.
  6. Hello! Jamie here! It's been eleven months since the first chapter has been released. Of course, college got in the way, but now I'm back to writing. Now, during the interim, I mainly focused on my academics as well as studying how I can improve my storytelling. I've decided to take a slower, more detailed approach in crafting the second chapter. Yup! Just some bug fixes and the second chapter of the VN will be ready to play. Following the abduction case of Inoue Shinozaki and Kyou Kirisaki, both the students of MSCI and the authorities are left baffled by the culprit's actions and motives. Thus, the case remains open at present and days pass with barely any leads. Only known as "L.C.," the mysterious figure draws the strings from behind the scenes, covering up their tracks while still being able to carry out the deadly game. Life goes on for the MSCI students and staff... ...Until L.C. decides to reveal himself at an inappropriate time. And one name is mentioned: ...Student Council President Sayo Ronoroa... Stay updated and follow the link to the game page. I'll be updating this post when it's ready. Have a good day! Link: https://jamiedw-offc0728.itch.io/death-roulette-chap-02
  7. Hello! Hope you find yourself welcome here.
  8. Oh, my gosh. I find your pieces amazing! Like all of the other VN Devs that use your music (with credit ofc, Hahahahaha), THANK YOU!
  9. There's always an external drive for that. But the hardest ones for me were Umineko (I spent six months reading everything and now it's gone T.T) and Fate/Stay Night (which I was about to start but my PC got formatted).
  10. Confession: I constantly ask Lambdadelta and/or Bernkastel to boost my morale whenever there's an exam. Even my friends are in on the joke.
  11. I'm currently revisiting Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni (still on the first arc). You can also try VA-11 Hall-A, if you're looking for a chill VN.
  12. It's kind of fun, actually. Having a lot of possibilities and finding them yourself is what I'm always looking for in a VN, especially if there are gameplay elements added in. But therein lies the problems you just mentioned. One thing that personally bugs is whether or not the route that the choice leads to isn't interesting enough to hold water. It still has to make sense to the plot (unless it's intentionally, non-sequitir, that is).
  13. The game is now available on itch.io! Follow this link to the VN: https://jamiedw-offc0728.itch.io/death-roulette-chap-01 Enjoy!
  14. There must be at least one character that I'm invested in, and the plot or premise should be relatable for me (or if not, at least it leaves me thinking about it for a long time). For example, for Umineko and 999, there is a "mystery factor" in both VNs that always makes me want to come back and finish their stories, despite being regularly pissed with all the trolling and the mind screw. LOL I'm actually a gamer aside from being a VN reader, there are a wide variety of genres I play. Currently, I'm still following the Kingdom Hearts series, which is one of my most favorite video game series of all time behind Metal Gear Solid and Crash Bandicoot.
  15. Hello, TemplarSeeker! Funny how I just finished VA-11 Hall-A and then I saw your pic. Hahahahahaha!
  16. Hello, Akimoto and littleshogun. littleshogun: I'm actually deciding between RGD and Higanbana. They're both on my to-play list. I'm still finding a companion VN to read with it (did that with Umineko/999).
  17. I played 999. It was awesome! Looking forward to it, then.
  18. Hello! So this is my debut VN made with Ren'Py. It started development since 2015 but will only be seeing its First Chapter after a few days because of some difficulties. I also had to rewrite the entire plot. If you can tell, I'm a one-man crew. Only the writing and programming is 100% me. The rest of the assets are CC. What will be releasing in a few days is the first of ten chapters that will span until mid-2018. Call it 0.98 for now; it just needs some polishing. Release will be on itch.io. Death Roulette focuses on ten students from Maria St. Claire Institute, all of whom are graduating from high school. Everything seems normal at first... until a strange "link" is uncovered. Conspiracy theories circulate around an incident the previous academic year, when a mass murder occurs at Sacred Heart Village. One by one, a student is killed each month, and the mastermind is never unmasked. To top it off, one of MSCI's alumna is involved, but even she is proven innocent... or is she? Come one morning, and the students of MSCI find out that even they have been compromised: someone is re-enacting the Sacred Heart Murders through a long-running game of deadly roulette. This time, they have a chance of unmasking the culprit, but how many lives will the effort cost? The time has started, and the game is on. It draws a lot of inspiration from Higurashi and Corpse Party, but the plot's basis is on semi-true events. Expect to see some neat references there... or not. Parallelisms, maybe? You can follow updates through my Twitter account or Facebook Page (I post my updates and teasers there), though you'll be seeing some images from the VN at this very post (if I can figure it out, that is). I'll be updating this throughout the entirety of the development. It's gonna be a long trip ahead! UPDATE: The game is now available on itch.io! 19. Hello, Fiddle! Nice meeting you. Shikomizue: Just like Stephen King says, you have to read a lot, and you have to read those that fall into the genre you're interested in, say romance or mystery. After that, you jot down a few ideas. "Writing What You Know" and "Writing Who You Know" both help with this. Then it's all about counting the numbers: knowing your word count. You also have to do a lot of research and back-reading to fix any plot hole. Give yourself 2-3 months for this, and another for editing. It's a tedious task, but worth it in the end. I resort to self-publishing. Very convenient, but I haven't actually considered going to an actual publisher yet.
  20. Hey there! I started writing when I initially joined a short story writing contest at our high school. It was... pretty bad to be honest. LOL. For VNs, it would have to be two years ago when a friend introduced me how to make VNs. I took up position as a writer, and after that experience, I decided to create my own. I'm also a published author of one novel, and I can say I improved my writing because of that.
  21. Hello! Jamie here. Basically, I've been reading through this forum for about a few months (I guess?) after I really got into Visual Novels. Thank "When They Cry" for that! I'm also a content creator (mainly a writer), projecting to release my debut VN sometime after a few days. Actually, I should say... FINALLY since it got stuck in DevHell for two years. Hahahaha! I'm looking forward to meeting some great people here. Hope to get in touch with 'ya soon!
