  1. This... Doesn't look as horrible as I expected. I don't think I can get over the "PR department's" work in the original post though. If it at least had been posted in the right subforum...
  2. The western otome scene offers a decent amount of hidden gems – small, often obscure titles, that nonetheless offer impressive artistic qualities and/or interesting, unique ideas. It also never stops being surprising to me how many of those games are published for free, sometimes even without any Patreon support or other direct forms of monetization on the part of their creators. Magical Otoge Ciel and Magical Otoge Anholly, developed by Batensan and published for free on Itch.io in 2015 and 2016, are among many high-quality, free otome VNs produced by the booming indie scene in recent years. Still, their author was able to establish a fairly interesting, distinct style both when it goes to art and the storytelling, very consistent between instalments and likely to be continued this year with the upcoming Magical Otoge Iris (with major hints at other, future projects). As both games are fairly short and simple, I've decided to review them together – the very similar writing, art assets and even shared elements such as UI structure and parts of the soundtrack make it justifiable to treat them basically as episodes of a single game. But what are they really about? Read the full article at evnchronicles.blogspot.com
  3. Happy Birthday to @ittaku and the most hyper newbie around @chikadox! :3
  4. Aaaaah, this is wonderful. :3 I would like my personality to be psychotic and bloodthirsty, not mindless but taking delight at my enemy's suffering and trying to dominate them from the first moments of the battle. My weapons of choice are dual-wielded sickles.
  5. Well, maybe I'm just used to JAST-style never-ending translation projects and constant delays. And I didn't mean there's something wrong with it, just that it seems quite ambitious. And NekoNyan, as much as I understand, is a small team after all, didn't know they've started it that long before the official announcement.
  6. That's fast... Now it's all about the translation quality if they can keep this kind of release schedule without making it unreadable they have some bright future before them... Or not. After browsing Steam Spy statistics I'm starting to wonder if there's a big enough market for straight-up moege in the West right now. Literally every SoL VN published on Steam in 2017 had shitty sale numbers, apart from Nekopara, that one Nekopara rip-off and Sakura games. If NekoNyan don't differentiate with their line-up they might be up for a disappointment.
  7. Aaaaaahhh, thank you so much! ^^ There's a lot of interesting stuff here though, especially if you gather everything worthwhile from 2-week or monthly periods. And everything that gives a bit of life to the frontpage is a great thing, so I'm excited about the idea far beyond my own stuff possibly being featured. I'm a bit too busy producing content for the blog and handling RL stuff to really participate though... :<
  8. Confession: I've role-played a girl in my week-long adventure with TERA Online. That is, I didn't even plan on doing that, but after I've got tired of playing dudes in RPGs, I've started making female avatars with female-sounding nicks, including in MMOs (I'm doing it to this day). To my despair, it turned out that there was a lot of Poles on the server and all of them automatically assumed I'm a girl. It somehow felt more awkward for me to clarify that I'm a dude everytime someone made a conversation, so I've just gone with it. Sadly, Poles seem to have no respect for role-play in MMORPGs. My real identity being questioned, I decided to leave that whole embarrassing experience behind me - TERA was boring anyways.

Oh, well, we appreciate the honesty. Welcome to Fuwa and I hope you'll have fun around here. Without getting banned.
  10. Also managed to mess it up because of the very same gimmick! Such mixed feelings... Well, at least some people's like/post rations makes much more sense now.
  11. A plus? Those people are Scum of the Earth! Joking aside, Welcome to Fuwa, looking forward to seeing more of your posts!
  12. こちらこそ! "For this"? It's for many things, I guess. For some it even seems to have little to do with VN. Anyways, Welcome to Fuwa, I hope you'll have fun here!
  13. Like Asonn said, try switching genres. Maybe approaching smaller, more story-intensive VNs that won't wear you down like those huge, SoL-filled ones. Saya no Uta. Or House in Fata Morgana. Come back to moege when you had your decent break from them.
  14. I wholeheartedly support this initiative. Considering the more experienced members volunteering I probably have little business joining (especially considering my obvious self-interest), but I really hoped for forums content getting more visibility. This is where most of Fuwa's life is ATM, thank you for going forward with this.
  15. Sacrificing those is such a waste... I mean, goats. They can give milk. Even trim your grass! Such cool animals.
  16. I think I should start with my Portuguese lessons soon, to prepare for the moment you guys officially take over... Ekhm, right... Welcome to Fuwa @AstralSword! Good luck with your translation project and I hope you'll have fun on the Forums whenever you find the time.
  17. As I'm out of likes, I'll just verbally support this statement. Considering the idea behind the contest and the reward in offer it should get some attention. I'm into many fairly obscure VNs and I'm a sucker for fan-art, I'd probably be willing to write a whole thesis to see some of these characters drawn by someone this talented... If I wasn't broke all the time I would probably commission people on deviantART to draw my favourite yuri couples on a regular basis. Right... @arosia, would you consider allowing couples beside single characters? I think it would also fit the theme of your game quite well.
  18. "Degeneracy"? That's an interesting choice of words. TBH, there's a lot of queer stories in the OELVN community because there's a lot of LGBT creators in it, but I can't think of many high-profile titles that would be actually that transgressive, other than Ladykiller in a Bind. More often than not games from events such as Yuri Game Jam are quite fluffy/tame TBH... And seriously, reading yuris not written by a middle-aged dude in Japan can be quite refreshing.
  19. As much as I can tell after my relatively short adventure with the VN fandom, it's definitely not the worst one out there. I think there's a sense of solidarity among more dedicated VN fans, considering how niche our hobby is - while people argue, as they do everywhere, I didn't see much of outright hostility and faction wars that plagues bigger fan communities. Even the creative OELVN fandom and the old-guard JP VN fans, as much as there might be a lot of misunderstanding between them, rather keep to their own little corners than clash with each other. And while I don't like fan elitism, it's also pretty much a constant in niches like this. Well, there are some interesting niches in the Steam VN community - especially considering that most people playing Sakura games and Nekopara there are not really interested in the medium and aren't that active with the actual VN-oriented groups. I think that the communities around Hella Yuri curator page and some other visual novel fangroups are quite decent, the success of all the trash ecchi VNs on Steam is more about horny teenager than any actual "VN community".
  20. Initial summary - if anyone still feels like adding some burns, they're welcome (and encouraged) to do so. However, I thought that some kind of response is warranted at this point: So, through a communal effort, we've created a neat set of burns, with some brilliantly accurate and effective ones among them! But, as always, there has to be winners and losers. I mean, obviously I’m the biggest loser in all of this, but I can at least share that status a bit! The Honourable Mentions: @Plk_Lesiak for a self-humiliation that was hard to topple by anyone who came afterwards. @Ranzo for making the insults highly personal and leading them to their logical conclusion. @Mr Poltroon for being brief but devastating in his burn. @mitchhamilton for a double-burn with both halfs of it equally painful. @Arcadeotic for both a quality burn of his own and making up for another burner’s laziness with basic image-editing skills. Impressive! I’ll stop here, although a few other names, for their underwhelming performance, might fit into The Hall of Shame: @Dergonu, who actually broke the rules and didn’t offer any explicit insults. Whether he offered implicit ones is debatable. @onorub, who took an efficient path of attacking my VN tastes, however, missed the mark slightly, as I never claimed that Analogue is the best VN ever, only that it’s my favourite and didn’t even hide the nostalgia factor. ;] @SeniorBlitz for being straight up lazy. Shame! Overall though, every post was appreciated, by the twisted logic governing this kind of masochistic events! I hope I'll have a lot more of such occasions and anniversaries to shitpost about around here. :3
  21. Well, at least it gives us hope that it will do without miraculous recovery or something similarly anticlimactic.
  22. Fixed already. THIS NEVER HAPPENED! PURE SLANDER AND MYSTIFICATION! MY OWN POSTS PROVE NOTHING!
  23. Nice review, considering my media-consuming habits and my huge VN backlog I will probably never get to reading much manga, but I definitely like reading texts like this. Keep up the good work.
