  1. Hello! I was just wondering about the seriousness of a realistic sense in background arts for Visual Novel. My colleague used to complain about the background art for school, classroom, swimming pool, amusement park (or just park), the beach etc. for being unusable without showing any crowds of people in the pic. He also said that those places look like they were abandoned or closed. He even said that if I want to make a quality game, I need the best and the most realistic pic. That includes having the crowd of people in the pic. However, I've seen too many backgrounds from VNs or other genres without the crowd. Though I don't know much about the complains. So, I was wondering if it is really that strong of a factor to make sense to the game? Thank you!
  2. Which one is correct in terms of perspective and other aspects need to be concerned for background? Or maybe neither? There will be two sprites showing on the left and right side of the picture. Thank you! *Sprites example: *Notes : I didn't draw these myself. It is a commission I paid for my game.
  3. Thank you very much everyone! Oh I must apologize for not looking at the rules more carefully. Since it says that "Outside of VNs is prohibited", I thought dating sim can be fine. I got all those examples from Japanese VN/anime/manga actually. I just want to know if anyone had seen young character in dating sim or romance VN. I don't really considered much about sexual theme, since romancing and dating are not always about that kind of stuff. But, maybe mentioning pantyshot and underwears had make this thread stepped to that side. From the look of it, is a 15-year-old unacceptable at all in dating sim regardless of the romance stuff (even hugging and kissing?, since I didn't consider these two options to be heavily sexual related imo) in the game? Should it be only for 18+ character age? Thank you very much! You can close the thread anytime you see fit.
  4. Hello! I was just curious what the youngest age character you have encountered in VN or dating sim is (regardless of the gender). My game has a 15-year-old girl as one of the romance option. While it is common to go on a date or having a crush toward the girl that age in real life, I'm not sure if she's too young for dating sim game or not. And how far of an interaction you have seen? How far can it be acceptable in terms of romancing/fan service/skinship option? Hugging? Kissing the cheek? Kissing the lips? Pantyshot/Underwears? (no offense intended) Though, my biggest concern is about a possibility of the general acceptance of puppy-love stuff and no more than kissing scene for 15 years old girl and 17 years old boy in the west. Please share your opinion with me! Thank you very much!
  5. I have just finished Fairy Fencer F Advent Dark Force and it made me interested in Compile Heart. I planned to buy Neptunia series afterwards.
  6. Hello! I am making a choice-based VN as of now. But, I'm a bit worried if I should call it a VN. It didn't have characters or maps for you to move or enter, just still pictures(portraits,bg,cg). It did have a romance dating simulation system in the game, but it also leans more toward the fantasy story as you would commonly find in RPG (heroes save the world from evil.). You need to break up with your girl after you confessed and dated with her for a while (is it sound crazy? but it's one of a main point). And a gameplay about choices and various minigame(timed choice, button mash etc.) also take a huge role in it. It relied on conversation rather than a narrative. So, I would like to know what you guys expect from a VN? Does my game consider as one? I was just afraid that most people might get what they didn't expect from VN genre. Thank you very much!
