  1. Marginal Operations 1~10. Good military-type manga.
  2. I've only played the trial, but I felt as though Otoboku3 was in many ways a watered-down Otoboku2. Did you get this feeling when you were playing, and if you did, did the game grow out of it down the road?
  3. Will likely be watching: Otakoi - like the manga Caligura - the game seemed cool and I don't think I'll be playing the actual game anytime soon. Tokyo Ghoul:re - assuming this continues off of the manga and not Root A Captain Tsubasa - why are we even getting another captain tsubasa. Whatever. Still watching. Houshin Engi - Another remake.
  4. I think you could kind of make the distinction that a Yuusha is chosen to accomplish some difficult task, though they often continue to be referred as such after the task is complete, while Eiyuu is an epithet that's only given to those who have accomplished some such task.
  5. Natsuiro Komachi https://vndb.org/v531
  6. Watashi wa Kyou Koko de Shinimasu might be a decent starter. Doesn't have furigana everywhere, but there are some. And it's short. Like, shorter than if you skip all of DDLC short. Also it's free.
  7. One other VN I can think of that utilizes caption is Tapestry by Light. I don't really have an opinion on these. They are fine, but I don't prefer them over the 'traditional' text box. I can see these making trouble for localization, though manga scanlations must have had to deal with these types of things forever so you could just go ask them for advise.
  8. So, during my freshman year at college, I lived on campus, where we were pared off in 2s and given a room each. We'd have a bed and desk on each side of the room, and my roommate and I would spend most of our time sitting in our chairs, back to back. I'm also a fairly large guy, so I figured my back would block my roommate's vision, so often just played VNs on my laptop. I'm pretty sure he caught me at least once while playing X Change Alternative and on an H scene, though. Eventually I decided that I should just play VNs on my bed with the back of laptop to him.
  9. You would like the WN version better, then. Ains has absolutely zero competition over there, whereas in the published version there's at least some hint as to powers on his level.
  10. Lastest episode of Overlord has had to have had the worst pacing in a single episode that I have ever seen. The novel was significantly better. Ep3 of evergarden and agree with above that there doesn't seem to be anything special about the show thus far.
  11. A bit of guessing, but: Hara Kano Another nukige from the ~ Kano series Natsu no Ame Sakaagari Hurricane Haruka ni Aogi, Uruwashi no
  12. Gate is at least decent reading. I dropped Death March (web) before end of the prologue.
  13. I feel like trying to maintain the literal-liberal balance in a single translation is pretty impossible a task. I wonder if it would be unreasonable to provide both liberal and literal translation and have an editor suggest a compromise?
  14. You'll get used to using walkthroughs, I'm sure. Personally, I don't use walkthroughs if the choices seem obvious enough, but otherwise, do my first play through without and the use the walkthrough for the following playthroughs. On the more depressing end of the spectrum, try Kira Kira.
  15. >(the crappiest book being Out of the Dark, an Independence Day-style story where the world is saved by Dracula, lol) Something something Record of the Fallen Vampire.
  16. Sakaagari Hurricane - I like this novel a lot, enough that I go back and re-read it on occasion, but never once have I managed to play the Yuzu route to the end, for reasons I myself can't explain. I originally had two routes I just couldn't seem to get into, but eventually whittled that down to 1 over the years. Koichoko - Gotta hate that enforced route order. Still managed to stay long enough to play Michiru route. Eventually did the student council president? route, too, but I'm pretty sure there's 1.... 2? More routes I left undone. Mono no Aware wa Sai no Koro - The game provided a somewhat interesting setting with potential for interesting conflicts, and made very little actual use of it. Its art also rubbed me the wrong way, and though I'm told there are individual heroine routes after finishing the 3 "generic" routes, I dropped the game a little ways into the third generic route. Otoboku - I somehow wasn't aware Otoboku 2 was the second game in the series and started with that. I liked Otoboku 2 a lot, so naturally, I went and tried the original. The original was, of course, a far cry from its sequel. I ended up doing one route and calling it quits. CLANNAD - I had watched the anime and only played the routes for the heroines that interested me. To Heart - There's just way too many heroines and the monotony of the day-to-day was too much of a pain. Still managed to play through at least 6 Heroine routes.
  17. I actually expected a little more from myself :/ http://testyourvocab.com/result?user=9512283
  18. Makina > Yumiko > Amane > Sachi > Michiru for me.
  19. Yeah. I read each of those as they came out in JP. I experienced all the gaps and had no problem with it. Of course, that might just be me.
  20. Eh, we knew that the series was going to be a trilogy, so we knew that we weren't likely to get any real conclusion in Meikyuu. Heck, Meikyuu was more or less just context dump for Rakuen with no real story of its own, so the only way I could see Meikyuu ending without being a cliffhunger would be to just have Yuuji return to the school in peace, "and they lived happily there after THE END" which seems really boring.
