While I agree on the overall point, I have to mention Grisaia no Kajitsu as an example for this exact thing here:

Finished Tokyo Babel today. There were a lot of great things about the novel:
Unique routes are great, though I felt Lilith's was way superior to other two. The concept of gaining power from your reason to live was interesting. Adam and Eve being a couple throughout all the routes. Usually in VNs all the girls are single and are there to be 'conquered', but Adam and Eve were solid. I especially liked Adam and his very simplistic reasoning.  Samael was cute on one hand but cold-blooded on another Loved that contrast.
The endings were okay for the most part, but
The one thing I really disliked about the VN is that there was so much fighting when the results were obvious. You know that Setsuna will win in the end, but every battle drags out anyway. I'd have much preferred all that time being spent on random school life events and battles ending after a couple of sentences.
P.S. Uriel was so annoying. Every time he appeared, he was screaming like a pig being murdered with just as much sense in his words.

After reading Grisaia no Kajitsu two years ago, i've read Meikyuu and Rakuen.
Meikyuu: After stories were fine (Sachi>Michiru>Amane>Makina>Yumiko for me), while Grand Route was great and the highlight of the series for me.
Rakuen: Prologue was pretty great but i didn't like the main story very much (crappy third-person narrative, lame villains and weirdly convenient ending turned me off).
Overall, still a solid trilogy. Kajitsu>Meikyuu>Rakuen for me.

Ich don't want to spoil things but I have never been so salty over a decision for a girl like in kaminomi. Every other choice, LITERALLY EVERYTHING ELSE, would have been acceptable, just not this.

Finished the Godesses arc of Kaminomi. I didn't like the previous girls returning as much as I thought I would, but I am really looking forward to seeing Keima finally pick a girl for real instead of going for them because he is forced to. I don't have one favorite, but there quite a few I wouldn't mind "winning" this, though from the comments here I assume it will be someone else.

NO kazuki does not have a route exactly. and only the first game (kaijitsu follows a route structure). Also while there are scenes involving sex between asuka etc. it doesn't really feel like mother/child because, though she raised him, it was quite militarised, and the relationship was not exactly lover-type love.
While a lot of the story will be spoiled, there is a LOT that won't be and it is a great read regardless. (One of my friends watched it after the anime and still loved it).
Further in Kaijitsu, the routes are actually different, except for Amanes flashbacks , i.e. while the underlying problems of the girls are the same as well as certain events, the routes do diverge differently. I had actually watched kaijitsu, before playing it and I still teared up at multiple places. It basically got me into VN's.
Kaijitsu (the first one) has has 5 routes, one for each girl.
The second game, meikyuu proposes an alternate universe where every route happens, and continues from there. This probably has a lot of what you are looking for as it shows yuuji's past, and his relationship with his sister in great detail. It is a lot darker than saku saku though. If you have watched the anime though you do know what happens later.
Rakuen acts as a conclusion to this, and as every girl's route happens, it is basically a harem ending.
So while it has a lot of what you want, there is no dedicated route for kazuki.
And kazuki is a loli so that could be a dealbreaker. She doesn't feel younger, such as in the case of suzu so you should be okay there (actually, even though makina was 18+, I had a lot more trouble with her, felt like having sex with your daughter [she actually calls him papa] . I loved makina a lot though ~)
    EDIT
Also in terms of quality the VN is far, far superior. They basically tried to put every route of a 50+ hr VN in 13 episodes. A lot of what made the VN so good is yuuji's inner monologue which is completely butchered in both the anime and the non 18+ version of the VN

Just finished Steins; Gate last night and the movie today of which I've put off for quite a while.
Time travel is actually one of the only things I usually like from Sci-Fi oriented shows, the way S;G expresses the uncertainty and inconsistencies of using time travel is amazing. Though, my real admiration is of the characters and their relation to time. Okabe is probably one of my favorite protagonists of all time. Just the way he reacts to situations and conversations with his colorful personality is priceless.
Oh, and best girl is of course Christina for being a good tsundere.

First of all the episodic nature becomes less and less the more the story goes on, season 3 is basically one big arc. After the anime ends there is one big (the biggest actually) arc left in the manga and begins at chapter 190. Also many of the girls reappear in other seasons so don't worry about them not getting enough screentime. I would recommend reading the manga though because in the anime they leave out a lot of stuff between season 2 and 3 which makes it somewhat hard to follow the story as a pure anime watcher. And one of my favourite arcs is included in the skip so I am a bit biased

Honestly, I don't remember it very well, but I think all the other chapters were adapted quite faithfully. Also, animation and music in the anime add quite a lot to the overall enjoyment, so the LN as a whole is probably not worth checking out if you've already watched it. The sixth chapter is an exception though. I think that this chapter was actually one of my favorite ones when I read the LN, so I was kind of pissed off to see it butchered (I can see why they decided to do it though).
Also, I don't think it's licensed in English, and I read a fan-translated version. (and I'm not sure if the translation is even good)

Rewatched Kamisama Hajimemashita recently up to Kako-hen and have to say I enjoyed it as much, if not more, than the first time I watched it. It has the usual archetypes for the main characters (cute and cheerful girl and the cool older guy who acts cold to the girl, but is actually really interested in the girl) but Nanami and Tomoe actually are really interesting in those roles.
Then I watched Kako-hen for the first time and it kinda blew me away. There was a minor issue in the end since I felt that there was some explanations cut to fit the 4 episodes (which was proven right when I read the manga) but I was stuck to the screen for the entire two hours. It was the best thing I've seen in months (admittedly I wasn't watching much anime recently and when I was watching it was mostly long shonen (Fairy Tail/Inuyasha) that had average stories at best).
Spent pretty much the entire day reading Kamisama manga today and I am really sad the last chapters are still not translated. I couldn't even find raw chapters to try my japanese on, but it looks like they have been out for a while.
Agreed on that one, wasn't too excited going into an anime about space janitors, but it told a great story without leaning on overused anime cliches. I had no idea of what would happen next and it always felt fresh. Definitely a series I would recommend to anyone.
Kara no Kyokai is probably my favorite anime of all time, definitely one of, so I am curious if the LN is worth the read. Is it available in english and is the story different enough (or more fleshed out) from the anime to warrant a read instead of just rewatching all the movies?

    Finished S;G 0
Overall, pretty solid read. 8/10. Good mid-quel stuff for original Steins;gate fans like myself to enjoy.
A bit disappointed that it didn't cover the future as much, at most it got like 30 minutes of coverage... I was expecting this VN to be ENTIRELY about the cast and the future >.> though, getting to see the little tie-ins in S;G 0's true end that led to Op Skuld was a pretty nice treat.
Time traveling and its repercussions aren't the focus this time, so the overall thrill and hype that the original S;G had hopping between world lines is lost. Instead, we're much more invested in the characters -

Another disappointment however is that it's pretty damn hard to keep track of what's going on; the original S;G had a simple and reasonable "D-mail = worldline shift" but S;G 0 had no concrete explanation of why the worldlines would shift; sure you know it all revolved around a certain (spoiler)
But that still doesn't explain why answering Amadeus's call or not would cause a shift, especially since it shouldn't influence who would obtain said key items.

Also compounded by the fact that there are multiple baddies, who each take the spotlight in whatever route they are prominently featured in, along with certain characters being used as red herrings and it's like oh come on!@# I get you're trying to build up some HOLY SHT revelations but stuff like

    ~~
But yeah, overall it should be a pretty fun read for people who enjoyed S;G. DO IT!

So, I finished Crescendo already. I loved pretty much all characters and the fact the routes were varied in atmosphere: From very light pure romance route to a very dark one and some in between. Usually it's either all routes happy go lucky, or every one of them really gloomy. Few things that annoyed me though:
The worst thing though was it was way too short. There wasn't enough time to get attached to any of the girls before the climax of their respective stories and then it ended without much of an epilogue. I felt like a lot of potential was wasted because the game really grabbed me from day 1, but it doesn't feel that satisfying after I've finished it.

I see, and in this case then I would recommend Gadget Trial instead. The gameplay was duplicate of Advance Wars, and the story was quite light. Hope this would be help once again.
