MaggieROBOT got a reaction from Ethan404 in What's the process like for VA's? (Moreso r18 stuff?)
Aaaaaaah I love seiyuu stuff so I frequently read a lot about it but it's not like I save it so I can share what I remember but I sadly can't source anything. I'm only talking about male seiyuus here as I know eroge voice actresses have a total different set of rules.
From what I read, for r18 game (if their agency allow them to work in r18 stuff, that is) they usually record their lines separately, get credit under an alias (but not always, surprisingly enough) and call it a day. They usually don't promote it in person nor with their personal twitter account, they have a separate one for the alias and they simply don't talk about it. It seems to be more of an entry level kind of stuff, probably because it doesn't pay as well as anime given a lot of VN developers (especially BL ones) are minuscule tiny groups in comparison with the anime industry. Not that the pay is incredible anyway, like Texas mentioned, that's why they do a lot of stuff.
For drama CDs it seems to be a bit more lax, as I see some explicit shit being credit with their own names, they attend events, do radio shows about them and stuff. They also record it together, same room side by side, as I remember one seiyuu once commenting how it's harder to voice drama CD because they have to "breath in synch" for the steamy scenes or something (for the background sounds). Of course, this is only true for BL since in otome there's usually only one guy per CD. When they do mention something like embarrassement, it's usually if the one they're working with it's their senpai because "oh no, I'm so inexperienced, can't let senpai down" kind of Japanese culture stuff. A job is a job, it looks like. They audition for it knowing what they're going for, it's not like they don't know beforehand. But it's not like everyone have no shame whatsoever either, of course, but I have the impression that the ones that get a little shy aren't the most people's person in the first place. Some just want to voice shit and not really talk about it in public, I wouldn't like it either xD
On the other end, a lot of seiyuus are pretty open about doing drama CDs. Taniyama Kishou (vocalist of GRANRODEO, Wilhelm from Dies Irae) and Suzuki Tatsuhisa (not VN but he voices Noctis in Final Fantasy 15 and Makoto in Free!) openly say they like doing these kind of jobs (then again, both don't waste an opportunity to say dirty shit in seiyuu events, so not surprising at all). I think I once read an interview with Midorikawa Hikaru (Shiki from Togainu no Chi and Fuminori from Saya no Uta) where he said he likes to reminisce about all the BL he did with Koyasu Takehito (Dio from JoJo) when the two meet up (they are old friends and they did a lot of r18 drama CDs together when they were starting). I once watched a video where Tomokazu Seki (Gilgamesh from FSN) did even a live improv of a more sexy passage and his translator was getting embarrassed at his side xD  And then, there's Morikawa Toshiyuki (Sephiroth in Final Fantasy 7) who's known as "emperor of BL" for the overwhelming number of BL CDs he did (usually as the top role), he also openly talks about it like it's a good experience (in one interview he even mentions his favorite CD) and that nickname is even mentioned in a gag in the anime Fudanshi Koukou Seikatsu.
I got most of these following the seiyuus themselves since they don't really hide it.

The House in Fata Morgana is a recent favourite of mine, and I think it can offer a lot of content to talk about. There are choices, but it doesn't split into routes like most VNs do, being closer to a kinetic novel.

Yeah, I believe expectation plays a big role in what we perceive as "worst". We do see those as more trash than we should because disappointment and frustration doesn't really have a "so bad it's good" funny meme value to poke fun at in the future.
I did play games that are sitting at 57 in Metacritic thrice from scratch while dropping titles at score 93 halfway so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯  expectation is one bitch that takes time to adjust.

p.s. I could contribute to the discussion but no one needs to know that one bad nukige I played

Sure, but one person's treasure is another one's nightmare. Just read up some opinions on Hoshimemo or Himawari. And as you can see, few people here mentioned obvious trash. Obvious trash rarely can leave you with a strong impression and achieve real hights of terribleness, because no one expects anything from it, including its authors. When something actually tries and takes itself seriously... That's how true abominations are brought to this world.

Honestly, I'm with you there. If you have little to no interest, forcing yourself through those routes can make the score sharply drop by the end or even ruin your overall experience. It's not like you have get every ending/quest/item/line of dialogue in a game to say you "finished" it. One ending is way more than enough in my book (I would argue about skipping your whole way there, but eeeeh I'm biased against speedruns in general so I can't really provide arguments).
People experience games the way they find the best. You either finish enough of it as a masterpiece or play long enough for it to become kusoge. Routes should be DLC tbh then I could buy only the ones I want.

That used to be my mindset as well, and it kinda ruins the value of which route you prefer. When I pick up this VN in the near future, I'll only chose one girl based on how attached I become to them.

Well have fun with Shibuya Scramble there, and as for what you should expect it's should be a thriller story that focused on the kidnapping. Also while some people argue that this is not a VN, I would say that this is more than enough to be classified as the VN seeing that it have VNDB entry. Admittedly it use photograph though which obviously very different fro usual VN, although it tell us enough that Chunsoft really pour their money on this seeing that it mean that the staffs really need to set it like a movie. Of course Famitsu here definitely didn't miss that high production value that Shibuya Scramble had, so much that they gave perfect score for this back at 2008. If you need more reason, then I would say that this is the only VN that was standalone out of those other three, so you didn't really need to play the prequel to fully enjoy this. It did spawned a sequel though in form of anime (Canaan), so if you like that anime then Shibuya Scramble here should be very interesting to try.

Utawarerumono or Psycho-Pass I'd say both are pretty good, I only played a bit of Shibuya Scramble and it seemed to be decent but never got around to finishing it.

C;C spoils the ending of C;H, but as long as you don't plan on reading the latter you should be fine. I only read C;C and I don't think knowing C;H would have improved the experience. In regards to S;G it's the other way round for me: C;C is so bad I would probably never pick up another title by the same developers ever again if I hadn't read S;G first. So I voted for 428.

Sadly I have never played Chaos;Child, 428 or Psycho-Pass Mandatory Happiness.
So I only vote for Utawarerumono MoD & MoT bundle.
I need help to pick a game myself.
So I made thread in Gamer Talk.

I also went with 428. As a matter of fact, I'm playing it right now and I'm enjoying both the story and its quirkiness a lot. Chaos;Child is great as well, but you should play Chaos;Head first to fully appreciate it. I imagine the same goes for Utawarerumono. At the very least, the only reason I haven't played MoD/MoT myself yet is because I'm awaiting the remake of the original, which will be released in a few months.
I haven't played Psycho-Pass yet, but it's supposed to be pretty mediocre, so it's definitely the least interesting title out of the four listed.

About the addtional info: while Chaos;Child has a fairly separate story from Chaos;Head, the ending of the latter sets up the background for the setting of the former and the same goes for the Mask Utawarerumono games in relation to the original. I chose 428 because that's the one i liked the most, but that's not exactly for weebs like the other choices, lol.

Opted for Utawarerumono 2&3 since that's the only one I'm familiar with. Never played Tears to Tiara 2, though I have played some of the PS3 port of the first game and gameplay wise I remember it being a little similar. I would recommend either waiting for the PS4 version or watching the anime for the first game so you'll get some references and foreshadowing sprinkled throughout the second game.

btw I am not saying they are likely to be SakuraGame, they are clearly SakuraGame. When updating my list on official english releases a while back I found that SakuraGame had put many of their titles under a new name Paradise Project. For instance Super Star a VN that seems to have credible evidence of stolen assets from what I have seen was originally released by SakuraGame and is now under Paradise Project, both of them are listed on the vndb page of Super Star.
