It doesn't really sound off how they speak irl but maybe that's just me only have to add some swearing and you'll get the full true bokukko experience! What Ren'ai Arrow wrote makes a lot of sense to me. As someone that reads every h-scene because why not, I read what they give me, I also agree that it can indeed mark as a relationship upgrade for the main couple, but still, I think it would be far far FAR more effective if they showed them hugging or cuddling then whispering sweet things then fade to black and showing them waking up close to each other. AND JUST THAT. The description of where the MC's dick is hitting have absolutely no purpose other than fap value. The quotes below are from my stash of bad h-scene quotes. It's supposedly from a important moment for the relationship between the MC and the heroine, but really, can you tell me with a straigth face that it's more than laughable bad filler and a disservice to the characters??? I think maaaaybe the only games that could be better with detailed descriptions are darker eroge, for shock and grotesque value, but even then people are mostly in for the fap

Actually it's not that much different in Japan tbh See, the thing with your quote is that it's Tara Strong. She's well know, of course she wouldn't do any random pornographic scene. Now back to Japan. Did you tried to look for eroge voice actresses? A lot of them go by alias and good luck if you happen to find a single pic of their faces (Of course there are exceptions, like Aoba Ringo). They mostly do eroge and eroge only. And actresses like Sakamoto Maaya and Kawasumi Ayako don't do eroge, except in all ages versions console ports. They're also more well know and they show their faces in events and such.

We don't even know if loli is the problem in this case (well, one of the heroines IS a middle schooler), but the question is always always "your loli mileage may vary". What's even constitutes a loli for a game to be banned because of it? For some people it's actual kids, for some people it's "cute and with small breasts" like Swin Swin exemplified, for others it's any underage character. There's absolutely no consensus. Hell, I remember seeing in Steam forums people complaining how in Fureraba the girls looks like 13 (yeah, sure.......). The "all characters are above 18+" doesn't fly with us, let alone with people that equates cute/moe = kid. They go for art alone. Valve's policy being really vague also doesn't help. Like Stormwolf said, it seems valid for them to try to avoid the legal risk and ban anything loli/shota, but that's not really written there anywhere nor what constitutes a loli for them.

What Lesiak was saying is that in Kindred Spirits, Lonely Yuri and Highway Blossoms the romance is the main part of the plot. It's like the "goal" of the game is for the couple/couples (KS have more than one) to realize they love each other and get together happy. That's it. Even if there's something more, the deal of the game is to read for the romance progression. Although you mention "recovering from a traumatic event", so maybe you're okay with some mundane drama? I wanted to recommend Nurse Love Addiction, as there are some plot going on there, but the common route can be quite heavy with SoL, so I don't know what you'll think of that. Fatal Twelve is also a good choice, as it's very plot driven, but it can be a bit too light in the romance part.

Tbh Saya no Uta is even more special than that. Iirc all the 3 endings are quite different in tone between themselves AND each have a different song (although the first one that you reach midway through the novel is just a instrumental song, while the other two are sung). So in a way, I see all 3 of them as kind of "True".

This is quite a generalization. From the ones I played, when they're useless, its mostly like a generic male MC from a moege: extremely dense and that dont do absolutely anything to push the relationship forward unprompted. But that's more of a plague in games when the main focus is the romance. If the plot is more about anything else, say investigation or fighting (of course, there are games that appear to be about something else when in fact they're not, romance is still the main deal), she can be as strong as the boys, even if not physically, mentally. My personal opinion, but I think older games have more of this problem than newer ones. But then again, old ones are very much these irritating dating sins based.

Tbh otomes are pretty much the gender swapped all ages version of the games for a male audience. There as much useless MC in otome than in moege. Except there are far far more moeges out there, so there's more known in the west titles that subvert that.

Fuwa female, sorry for intruding But if you're unwilling to buy Vita games just to test out, I have to suggest Psychedelica of the Black Butterfly. It have voices, more plot than romance, mystery and it's available on steam!

This is exactly why I think attaching routes of plot oriented VNs to heroes/heroines is a bad idea. Why do the MC have to simply forget about the main mystery just because he's not dating main X-chan or Y-kun? It's like they can't even help the main hero/heroine as a good friend... Other thing that always bugs me when it come to True Routes are the way we enter them. The Butterfly Effect is sometimes way too strong. Like Comyu, for example. The choice to go for Kagome, the true heroine, and to drastically alter the events of the story is... Maybe I'm overthinking this, but it always sounded stupid for you to enter "true" routes with such insignificant choices that also somehow locks you with a certain love interest because reasons.

The "True End" of a VN for me is whatever ending I liked the most. Simple as that. Of course I like some sort of conclusion, but it needs to be satisfying and well written for me to acknowledge it as the Best/True End.

Great review! I used to read some chuuni shit (chuuniga? it was mostly manga and not games) years ago, but yeah the edgelord asshole of a MC that somehow still is the only man on Earth that the heroines care about, just for them to go completely submissive and OOC in romantic/ecchi scenes regardless of how head strong they were before, was way too common and became annoying way too fast for me to even bother with this type of story anymore. Okay, maybe I just had a poor finger to choose reading material, I admit it, but guess this VN will not be the one to make me go back to it.

I'd say it's still worth it. It's pretty much impossible to get the original in Japanese at this point. Besides, I think there's not much differences in the text of the battles, only in the CGs themselves. The only route that'll feel different tho is Heavens Feel, since some backstory had to be completely rewritten. But you can read about it later I guess.

The justifications for some sex scenes were pretty lame on the original to begin with. But oh well, here's a summary of everything that changed: - Mana transfer via sex became a one battling in the mind of the other person or vampirism - Contract sex became some illusion thing with dolphins or something - One completely random dream sex scene became a yuri flirting thing for whatever reason - Blood was toned down in some CGs - Illyas eyes are a bit smaller in some CGs, maybe for her not to be so child like???? - Rape references were purged - One CG of a character ripping another's heart was purged as well - There's now voices, new CGs, new songs, new events in some random places, new OPs and an epilogue for Saber
