Really disappointed at MG's choice of a Moonstone game and, ugh, Space Live looks like something straight out of Sakura series. But on the other hand Evenicle and Damekoi are both really great and much anticipated announcements so I'd say MG easily beat their last year's AX licenses.

Now let me put a positive spin on this VN ... It has some rather interesting sexual scenes and moments in it that I couldn't simply ignore ... Plotwise so far that I have read it's nothing to write home about but sexual content here with the provided plot isn't that bad at all, provided that you have nothing against urination fetish xD ...

Swim Swim reacted to Fred the Barber in Fuwa VN Reading Club: Summer 2017 (Everlasting Summer)
I spent quite a lot of time with the game already, and although I won't be playing any for the next couple days, I'm still hoping to finish it on/by Monday. The game is definitely looking to be about medium length, I guess? Not as long as a typical full-price Japanese VN, but also nowhere near as short as something like Eden*, for instance.
At this point I've finished the Slavya, Lena, Alisa, and Semyon routes. Lena was pretty weird throughout, and didn't really work for me (mostly because of the character, in spite of my initial appreciation for the character). Semyon's route was pretty interesting, and Slavya and Alisa were both all right; no complaints there.
Now, brace yourselves: a wall of text complaining about choices is coming.
Honestly, the game is not great about making clear what choices will lead to what kind of outcome: sometimes you just have to go to the right random location to get a scene with a girl. Also, apparently showing curiosity for a girl's interests is often a bad idea: I was surprised to see in the guide that, for instance, trying to figure out what book Alisa is reading is a negative for her, whereas simply saying nothing about the book she's carrying will get you +1 affection (with no feedback after the fact to make this obvious). The game design side of this seems bad, to me, and I'd contrast it with games like, say, Little Busters!, where both the reasoning behind any choice and the outcome of your choices are a lot more obvious:
In LB, before making any decision, you usually have a very good idea of who it will impact and how they will take it. In Everlasting Summer, it's pretty non-obvious a lot of the time how someone is going to react, or often even who will be impacted by certain choices. There was one memorable point in Slavya's route (the last choice) where I literally didn't understand the meaning of either choice, let alone the distinction between them, but apparently there was a right answer and a wrong answer. In LB, people generally react to your decisions quickly and in obviously positive or negative ways, so you can quickly reevaluate (save scum it if you must, but regardless, at least you'll know better next time). In Everlasting Summer, quite often you don't get such obvious reactions, and so when, at the end, you get a bad ending (or even end up on the wrong route, in my case...), you still likely don't quite know what to go back and fuss with to fix it. In LB, even when your decision is a simple "where should I go" decision with no immediate tie to a character in the choices, locations have well-established associations with characters in the game, making those decisions actually thinly-disguised choices of "what girl should I go see?", assuming you have been paying attention to the girl you're going after. It's simplistic, but I find that kind of choice strangely rewarding: they're just as obvious as the simple "pick a girl" choices that you see in lazier games, but somehow more meaningful, and it kind of gives this feel that the game is winking at you. In Everlasting Summer, it often makes you choose a location, but the meaning of it is pretty completely unknowable: go somewhere and run into a random person there for +affection, CG, etc., All in all, on the choices, I kind of feel like I'm perpetually in the dark with Everlasting Summer. Maybe that was the intention (life is, after all, also not so cut-and-dry on what will be the outcome of your choices), but when the end result is the game giving me a bad ending for a character because I chose to go to the boathouse instead of the bus stop on day 3, despite no clues that the bus stop was the magical correct choice for that character on that day, it's just frustrating.
All that said, one thing I do really like is that a lot of the choices aren't simple +/- choices for one character. Instead, quite often your choice leads you to run away from a scene with one character, and then accidentally end up in a scene with another character. These are, in a way, charming and interesting, and I don't mind these very much even though the impact isn't obvious beforehand, since it is obvious immediately afterwards. They're good for rewarding replays when you'll "know better next time", which the game clearly wants to emphasize (I feel kind of bad for bucking that by using a guide, honestly).

Finished it just now, took me 47 hours total. It's been a while that I enjoyed playing a VN that much, some minor issues aside.
    Playing order: Midori>Yukino>Maya>Kyou>Runa
    Route Rating: Midori/Maya>Kyou>Yukino>Runa
    Girls: Midori/Yukino>Kyou>Maya>Runa
This does make it seem like I don't care about Runa at all, while it's true that I like her the least, playing her route did improve my opinion of her by a lot at the end. However, there's no character in the game that I hate. (except Kishi, maybe)
Some Common/Route specific complaints, maybe spoiler?

Kinda sad I'm done now, as I had such a good time playing. Makes me wish it would've gotten a sequel.

    Serious answer:
I don't feel like 5 scenes are too much, because even without them, all the routes feel like they're 10 hours longer than they really need to be. At times, I was struggling to keep paying attention to the dragged out writing, so getting plenty of "service" helped.

I hate to play devil's advocate here, but if people are so hard-boiled about English translations and are gonna be super picky, why not just learn Japanese so you can read the original content? I know that seems like an asshole thing to say and I'm not trying to be. However, while it is a slight distraction to see some of the bad translations that Decay pointed out, they don't seem to ruin the enjoyment of the VN as it was intended. When you look at VNs that have tens of thousands of lines of text, and you pick maybe 10 out that are bad, isn't that a bit much?
I've played VNs that have bad translations in them and, while distracting, it didn't really ruin the overall enjoyment factor. I think the frustrating part for me is that it takes a LOT of time to get an English translation and games normally don't get a second translation, so the fact that we have English to read at all should be appreciated. However by that same logic, I also appreciate the counter-argument that it should be done right in the first place.
Note I'm not making excuses for bad translations nor am I saying it's acceptable. I guess I'm just saying we should all calm down a little bit and maybe appreciate that the translation is provided in the first place.

    Summary
Yuuma is a second year student at the prestigious public school Hoshioka Gakuen. It is known for offering a fulfilling school life, but he has yet to experience love and spends his days lacking any satisfaction. He hasn’t made any progress with his classmates nor his osananajimi. All he can do is look at his love interest, the student council leader Midori, from a distance.

One day, he saw her with a troubled face. It seemed that the remaining members of the school cafeteria improvement committee had resigned. After giving it some thought, he volunteered to lead the committee. After that fateful moment, his surroundings became a lot more lively and before long, his first love had blossomed.

Out of all the NTR visual novels that Atelier Sakura has, the one that gets picked is the one that doesn't have any kind of netorare behind it, at all. My hate for netorase (yeah, with "s", not "r". Yeah, they're different) has only increased after this.

Not that Atelier Sakura has any good netorare title, but at least they have their moments.

One does not simply put reality in something used to flee from it.

And let's be honest: Eroge/VNs turned into nothing more than "AnImU-BEEWBs" or "I-want-a-gril-but-will-never-get-on-in-reality-cuz-I'm-weird-and-or-ugly: The Relationship Simulator".

Announcing Marina kinda proves my hypothesis that Mangagamer isn't really interested in bringing NTR eroge to the west. They are only interested in bringing cuckold nukige (meaning consensual adultery aka the most boring subgenre of NTR) since that is a porn genre already established here and normies are familiar with the concept.
But NTR games with actual drama, meaningful relationship problems, suspense, angst ... you know, all the good stuff? Eh, probably not.

First of all, congratulations to HatsuKoi complete English patch release to Tsurezure. As for this thread, since there's still no serious discussion in regard of HatsuKoi I decide to made a thread for it (It's been a while since I made one for moege).
Most of the reviews that I'd found said that MC was gotten worse at both of Runa's route and Yukino's route, so I think that should be enough heads up if you want to play HatsuKoi fully. For the reviews there's one from Aedes and there's another review from the translator himself. By the way, his (The translator) score doesn't mean that he wasn't enjoy translating HatsuKoi, in fact he said that he enjoyong translating it. As for the reviews, beware that all of them were contained spoiler to some degree.
As for my opinion, while I'd see many negative in regard of HatsuKoi MC (Yuma) was quite dense (So much that tone work need to post apology video in regard of that) and it's reception was not as good as tone work later works (Hoshiori and Gin'iro Haruka), I think this was most likely because of the pressure in regard of 20th year anniversary VN for Visual Art. Another reason I said that was in regard of tone work, which at that time was still new and yet they were handed the big responsibility for that, especially when faced with the big expectations from all of the consumer who wants good VN for the anniversary edition (Besides, I think even Key which is one of the biggest brand for Visual Arts would face similar problem). It's just quite hard to write about, so I'll just leave it and say that tone works was improved in their later works by using HatsuKoi as the basis. Nevertheless, I still happy though that we finally got one of tone work VN translated, albeit a rough one. As for the production value itself, HatsuKoi here were quite interesting one if we looking at the seiyuu for the heroines and the vocal song.
Since this is charage (Or moege) in the first place, of course what we should see here should be the girls instead of the story or action. There's a bit plot though, namely that Yuma trying to form Cafeteria club with him as the chairman. As for the girls, they were quite cute if I may say and once again the girls voice were quite good, also the seiyuu behind girls voice was quite well known. As for the the girls, they were:
    1. Makabe Midori

The student council president from Yuma's school. She was quite famous for being kind and understanding, and her speech was also quite heartwarming. Although in reality she was quite shy and she was said that she never taste of how being an ordinary girl here. Oh, and she came from rich family by the way. Her seiyuu was Isshiki Hikaru (aka Tanaka Ryouko) who voiced Sakaki Yumiko (Another rich girl) from Grisaia franchise, Narukana from Seinarukana, Neon Scalar Smilja from Gahkthun, Kurugaya Yuiko from Little Busters, Hinaori Kagome from Comyu, Kirimiya Mizuki from Yume Miru Kusuri, Hazakura Seiso from Majikoi franchise, and Kawahara Sakuya from I/O.
    2. Fujikawa Runa

One of Yuma childhood friend who was a year behind him. She was study very hard in order to enter Yuma's school and apparently quite energetic one. She was also secretly in love with Yuma (It's given though), and more importantly want to be seen as an adult woman. Momoi Ichigo was the one who provide voice for her, who in turn also voiced Akita Momoko from Aoishiro, Lacrille from Madou Koukaku, and Dorothy Davenport aka DD from Chrono Clock (At least there'll be no Engrish from Runa this time I assure).
    3. Tsukishima Kyou

One of Yuma's new classmate, and quite energetic at that. She is quite athletic as well, because she was participated in girls basketball club in the past and the ace player to boot (She quit from the club though). Nowadays, she was work at her family pizzeria (A restaurant that specialized in pizza). Her goal was to make her pizzeria the best in the world, and therefore she take her job at pizzeria very seriously. The voice for her was Natsuno Koori (aka Taguchi Hiroko) who voiced Suou Amane (Had same background in regard of basketball) from Grisaia franchise, Yarai Miu from Dracu Riot, Masamune Shizuru from Noble Works, Kagami Sumika from Muv Luv franchise, Hinata Natsumi from Sharin no Kuni, Kitsuki Riho from Koi Suru Natsu no Last Resort, and Kasugano Sora from Yosuga no Sora.
    4. Tokizaki Maya

Another Yuma's classmate, and unlike Kyou she was quite opposite (Kuudere). She apparently had bad reputation from skipping class a lot. She was quite famous child actress in the past, and she did quit after her last movie was flop (The reason was because according to in-game review the movie in question was too hard to understand by children). Oh, and she like to tease Yuma quite a lot. Her voice was Sakurai Harumi, who voiced Takamori Haruka at Beat Blade Haruka, Kanemoto Akari at Noble Works, Tokido Saya at Little Busters, Yayoi B. Lutwidge at Hapymaher, Kurokawa Sera at Lovely x Cation, and Lily at Himegari.
    5. Morino Yukino

Another Yuma's childhood friend, and at same age as Yuma. As his childhood friend, she obviously the closest to Yuma at the story beginning and Yuma's mother also quite close with Yukino. She was also quite fast befriended Kyou the moment they were met from the first time. Oh, and she appointed as vice chairman for the cafeteria committee. Her voice was Ogura Yui, who voiced Himiko from Eiyuu Senki, Inaba Yui from Flyable Heart, Yanagise Eika from Ikikoi, Wakatsuki Kagami from Subahibi, Nanase Rio from Imouto Paradise, and Maple from Nekopara.
By the way, each heroines were had image song although only two of the heroines were had their individual ending song though (Runa and Maya).
That's all for the heroines and review in regard of HatsuKoi. You could use this thread as discussion thread by the way. Have fun for discussing HatsuKoi here, and find out whether it's good or not by yourself.

Actually I disagree. But it's subjective of course.

If there is no permament damage I'm reacting only as 'oh, that's bad, but who cares, it will be reseted without consequences'. Because conseqences are the most terrible thing for me.
Permament damages are terrible because they're permanent. Pain is temporary, scars are eternall. Seeing somebody living without chopped arm would be horrible. Seeing it magically grown back it's boring.
Same thing when one of the main characters dies at the near end of story. Seen many times in movies and VNs. It's not working because I'll be out of this world in few hours max. Repercussions of living in this world, with these characters, but without that one deceased are the saddest thing about someones death.

Same rule to bad ends with characters death/torture/screwing up important thing. It's just 'oh, okay', because I know it's only a short bad end in the middle, I can always load a savegame and go through proper route. Don't do that VN makers. If you want to kill somebody, then kill them, without a way out of it.

    BUT, to stay on topic:

but the reason Comyu had one of worst throwaway H-SCENES I ever seen, its almost was like they designed a game for younger ones then hey we need H-scene " lets throw some random sh.t in it". Also I have never seen a more annoying MC, he is a damn manwhore who also happens to be hypocrite, claiming to be in love and giving pretionus shonen speeches, yet he cheats on girl, on other times he refuses to cheat... So badly written, I mean wtf decide what MC supposed be either he is nice or bad, not a damn hypocrite.

I absolutely dont recommend this title.

Absurd Difference in Quality and Pricing Between Their Clannad Physical And The Rest:
For all the Kickstarters and IndieGogo Sekai Project did, there is not much to show in terms of rewards that was delivered, I have almost backed every crowdfunding campaigns Sekai Project did and so far after thousands of dollars spent I only have Clannad, 1/4 of the Grisaia Boxset and Root Double to show for it.
Here we compare Grisaia DVD Boxset quality to Texhnolyze DVD Boxset:
    Comparison Pic 1:
The Texhnolyze DVD Boxset is very sturdy while the Sekai Project Grisaia Boxset is flimsy and of low quality (especially for that price) also even though the Texhnolyze DVD Boxset is very sturdy for good measure a solid Styrofoam block was also added to prevent the DVD Boxset from getting bent since the boxset was only bundled with volume 1, while the rest of the space is empty:
While the Sekai Project Grisia DVD Boxset "anti-bent protection measures" consist simply of a thin and flimsy piece of cardboard layer:
Styrofoam blocks must be too expensive for Sekai Project... And a low quality DVD Boxset with a set of cheap black DVD cases is apparently worth hundreds of dollars! There this is what you got for hundred of dollars...
Now I would like to now compare that with Clannad HD Kickstarter Limited Edition from Sekai Project to Majikoi S First Print Print Limited Edition.
    Comparison Pic 1:
    Comparison Pic 2:
    Clannad 1 Guidebook:
    Clannad 2:
Majikoi S 1 First Print Limited Edition Artbook:
    Majikoi S 2:
Now with the Clannad Kickstarter Limited Edition we have something which seems as good as japanese releases, with a big box, a high quality 81 pages guidebook, the game disc in a long jewel case and the mabinogi soundtrack disc in a standard jewel case, not only that it is a numbered edition with only about 4000 units made, all this for 40 USD Early Birds and 50 USD for the rest.
So basically for 40/50 USD, you could get something that rival japanese eroge First Print Limited Edition releases with plenty of content, but for hundred of dollars you get a cheap low quality Boxset with censored copies on DVD in cheap black DVD cases? I am not so good at math, but I think something's wrong here. Now it seems that the prices have increased since Clannad Kickstarter by 3x and the quality and amount of content for your buck seem to have diminished? Again either something's wrong with the math...

Swim Swim reacted to Nier in My Rant About Sekai Project And Their Unending Stream of Lies, Scams and Other Deceitful Schemes
If you would check my Kickstarter profile you would notice that I have been supporting the localization Visual Novel effort since it's beginnings on Kickstarter with The Grisaia Trilogy and The Clannad Crowdfunding campaigns being the first things that I have ever backed on Kickstarter, since I was eager to see more Visual Novels translated in english, I have spent thousands of dollars in the last few years on supporting pretty much every major japanese VN crowdfunding campaign since the beginning of the trend. However as these localization companies grow, they get more and more bold with their schemes, false advertisements, cheatings, lies and coy word play which in the ends result in them royally screwing over the very same people that helped these localization companies grow as big as they are now. I would prefer to say nothing and just keep things as they are now, but I feel that if I did that these companies would see that they can get away with this and grow bolder and bolder with their schemes aimed at screwing over their customers out of their money for all they are worth, so they need to be called out on it and since no one seem to have noticed and/or mentioned this and I feel that at least someone has to do it.

Sekai Project's False Advertising Scam and Creating Demand Schemes:
Sekai Project had recently launched another Kickstarter Campaign, this time it was for A Clockwork Ley-Line Trilogy, on this Kickstarter the only way to get a physical edition of the Trilogy was to pay a minimum of 135 USD, it is a similar system to what they used for their ChronoClock Kickstarter Campaign which was the first Sekai Project Kickstarter Campaign where they finally dropped the false pretenses of it being for the sake of the game localization and more for the sake of manufacturing physical goods, in the Clockwork Ley-Line Trilogy Kickstarter you could get a I quote "The Physical Limited Edition" for a premium price of 135 USD not any less, the 135 USD tier is a tier that include both digital copies and physical copies of the rewards, HOWEVER, the I quote "Physical Limited Edition" could not be obtained as stand-alone, they were exclusives to these higher premium tiers and were exclusively sold bundled together with digital codes, which brought the price to a minimum of 135 USD for a I quote "Physical Limited Edition".
A few people had (rightfully) complained about this in the past and mentioned how it was not fair to keep the Physical Edition exclusively bundled together with digital which raised the price by x2 and how a choice should be offered to backers who only wanted a physical edition without any of the digital rewards, to which Sekai Project basically replied to them that they should go take a hike and they they wouldn't change anything and that if they wanted a physical edition it was 135 USD+ or nothing.
The Clockwork Ley-Line Trilogy raised a total of 135,430 USD during a 31 days Kickstarter Campaign, which ended on the 19th March 2017 (less than a month ago), however unlike usually it seems that Sekai Project has gone into a new direction unlike before and decided to open an Store Page on the Backerkit Pre-order Store for A Clockwork Ley-Line Trilogy.
    See here, Backerkit Preorder Store:
Now look here on the original Kickstarter Crowdfunding Campaign page:
You would notice the following things:
    - On Kickstarter it was only sold for 135 USD minimum bundled together with digital codes, On the Backerkit Store it is sold stand-alone for only 75 USD.
    - On Kickstarter it was advertised as a "Limited Edition", on the Backerkit Store the words "Limited Edition" have been completely removed, yet according to the description it is the same physical set of the trilogy in a slipcase.
This is what is called a "False Advertising", by falsely putting the words "Limited Edition" next to a non-Limited Edition they would create more demand for it and as such garner more money even though their intention is to keep making money on their Backerkit Store by having it readily available for purchase in a non-limited capacity, this is called "Artificial Creating Demand", see this example to easily understand this scam:

That's basically what Sekai Project has sold you on Kickstarter if you backed for their "Limited Edition" of a Clockwork Ley-Line which was "Limited" in name only and for a limited time, the only thing "limited" about it is the limited amount of time it took for it to lose it's status of "Limited Edition" (only after they got their 135k from the Kickstarter funds mind you) as you saw on it's Backerkit Pre-order Store.
Some info on the Backerkit Preorder Store https://www.backerkit.com/preorder_projects
What they don't tell you is that the "Backerkit Pre-order Store" is a "Pre-order store" in name only, as it is not restricted to only preorder projects, no, even if something has been released years ago you can still let your Backerkit Pre-order Store Page open for business for an indefinite amount of time no matter how long ago the project has already been done with and released. So if Sekai Project wanted, they could use Backerkit as their very own cheap Online Store to sell their fake "Limited Editions" in a seemingly inexhaustible numbers of supply for an indefinite amount of time.
So basically here you see that Sekai Project royally screwed over their Kickstarter physical backers (the very same people that made their Kickstarter a success), by lying and selling to them a non-Limited Edition as a "Limited Edition" and by overcharging these same Kickstarter Backers a minimum of 135 USD for a physical edition, while they now offer the same physical edition on their Backerkit Store for only 75 USD.
I urge everyone who backed the A Clockwork Ley-Line Kickstarter for a physical "Limited Edition" to send a message to Sekai Project to request a refund here: [email protected]
Unless off course you like being overcharged and taken for a fool.

Sekai Project And Frontwing Screwing Over The Grisaia Trilogy Kickstarter Physical Backers:
As you probably know, we now are going to have 2 different Grisaia Boxset in english, not one, but two. However one is clearly inferior to the other as I will explain in a few line below, now it's been confirmed that Frontwing will release an English version of the Grisaia Complete Box, which basically screws over every one of the Backers that backed Grisaia Physical Kickstarter in Q4 2014-Q1 2015,
So who's to blame for this? Frontwing? Sekai Project? Both of them? Who knows, but Sekai Project shares the blame in this as they are the holders of the license and only they could give the greenlight to Frontwing for producing physical copies of the Complete Box and so they did even though they damn well knew that if they did this, that it would instantly screw over the thousands of Grisaia Trilogy Kickstarter Backers who have as of yet not even received 3/4 of the physical game rewards.
Why is this situation so bad? I will let you judge for yourself:
    Frontwing 2017 Boxset:

    Sekai Project 2014 Boxset:
    So what happens now:
    1. Thousands of Grisaia Trilogy Kickstarter Backers are now going to be stuck with to the clearly shittier Sekai Project Boxset compared to the Frontwing Boxset.
    2. Thousands of Grisaia Trilogy Kickstarter Backers have as of yet only received only 1 (Fruit) of the physical game out of the 4 (Labynrinth, Eden, ChiruChiru Michiru)
    3. The Frontwing Boxset has about 14 different goods included (including the high quality collector's box), while the Sekai Project Boxset has only the measly DVD physical games cases in a flimsy DVD Boxset.
    4. The Frontwing Boxset will be 18+, While the Sekai Project Boxset was censored.
    5. Now that the Frontwing Boxset has been announced this has totally devalued the Sekai Project Boxset to nothing and made it worthless.
    6. Because of point "5.", thousands of Backers are now stuck with the Sekai Project Boxset that they will never be able to sell off, especially if they wish to upgrade to the clearly superior Frontwing Boxset, because who will now pay hundreds of dollars for the Sekai Project Boxset now that there is going to be a Frontwing Boxset that is clearly superior in every way?
    7. Frontwing has shown a complete lack of professionalism and care by basically telling their gaijin customers to buy again and again different versions of Grisaia Boxsets because "That's as good as it's going to get for non-japanese" to only release new ones who were better than the last, some people had to buy Grisaia Boxsets 3 times between 2014 and now (Sekai Project 2014 Boxset, Japanese 2017 Frontwing Boxset Provided by Frontwing who used J-List as their very own online store, English 2017 Frontwing Boxset who will use Backerkit as their own Online Store). This sort of unprofessional behavior certainly wouldn't fly in Japan as it would have been called out real quick in the otaku eroge gamers circles and would have ruined the reputation of said infringing companies, but they do it here because they know they can get away with it in gaijinland. In retrospect, there is only ONE Grisaia Boxset in Japan that was produced in an actual limited quantity.

I am not gonna lie, I am not crazy about the physical library of titles from MangaGamer or JAST, but at least these have never tried to royally screw over so horribly their customers like Sekai Project does and I never had any problems with the few times I dealt with them.
