I think I'm the only guy that enjoy the torture scenes, maybe I developed sadism over years of consuming hentai. I remember that I watched the OP for first time (2015 I think) when was released, it was "wow" and "wtf" for me, but now is Finally the waiting has ended.
You arent alone, I am a sadist too.
I really do hope that Maggot Baits will be better experience than Euphoria(quite tame for my taste) was, I dislike the fantasy(Fraternite would have been my preference) setting but can forgive if the game delivers lot of torture and gore, so pre-ordered, we need more games like this on west.

That's why I asked which release is the most complete one. I was thinking there may be one that has everything included, but... turns out you either play the original Japanese release with H-scenes, or you play the all-ages one without H-scenes, but some other additional content. RIP. Huge RIP. You would need a great hacker to add back in the H-scenes into the all-ages release
...Guess I'll just go for the original Japanese release with H-scenes anyway.
For an Eroge, I personally feel cutting out sex scenes is the equivalent of a fan settling for a MTL of a story. Yes, you can enjoy the work despite the missing content but u do miss a lot. Of course JP developers also responsible for this, I guess to them releasing All ages = Multi-platform plus PC release as an added cash grab, since westerners will buy it anyway and the developers dont have to take risk with ero content, "high school grill drawing is underage porn etc"..
The best example would be releasing an FPS game, with the following announcement: "There wont be a version with guns because of licensing reasons" But you can still enjoy the FPS game's story....
Same thing for me.

I've only seen one for the bath scenes. I didn't hear of any patch to restore H-scenes.
Also... does anyone here know which release is the most complete one for Noratoto? Say, if I were to pick up the original PC 18+ release from Japan, what would I be missing, content-wise? Some bonus scenarios perhaps?
You are correct H-scene patch cannot be made, since PC never had an all ages version to begin with. In japan this game was always 18+ only, it was so popular that they made a different all ages version for CONSOLES. The release for West is based on the CONSOLE VERSION,also this version has an additional scenes that's unique to this version, it would be really difficult to make a patch for this since its different from the ORIGINAL 18+ version on PC.
As for the most complete version, the original PC JP game had like 4-5 scenes per heroine, just look at some CGs and basically it was 30-40% of the content that game had to offer, this game considered a borderline nukige. Usually there are differences between censored and butchered game... this one has been slaughtered with no mercy!
This is an eroge stripped of its ero content, unfortunately Japanese treats west as inferior beings and we get censored versions most of time, also cultural imperialism extremely strong and every game changed to suit US ideals and mainstream ideologies (SJW/ progressive feminist, American puritism)

Made an account to simply say I got a refund. The art is amazing so is the VA. I take H scenes as both erotic and heartwarming so rip there. Seeing "Light rays" where they make no sense pulls me out out of the scene as well. Was quite upset it got censored so hard. Shoulda read up on it though. Really bummed.
Another moenovel? Seems like it is.

Based on how eroge companies generally operate regarding their western releases (especially when they have no "partner" to help them), I'd say simply asking them first would be the wise decision as japanese eroge pubs may not think of releasing a 18+ version for the most absurd reasons you can't even imagine in the right mind. Looking back, I'd even say they usually approach the release with the mentality of "of course we are going for the safe console version, why would we release porn in the wild west and ask for trouble?" and only then fans can sometimes manage to dissuade them.
I have a very hard time believing that NoraNeko of all things (considering that all seiyuus in the game are the usual suspects) is exactly that legendary game which can't be released uncut due to the extreme licensing issues and it's not simply a case of "can't be bothered to go back to the basic preparations that late in the game". If there's no will, there obviously won't be a way. While true, it would be absurd to stall the steam release for another, say, six months simply because they didn't think of releasing 18+ version, it still means that if noone presses them about it, they'll just think that everything is marvellous and they are genious strategists. Especially since, as I understand it, they don't even look at the feedback, only Fruitbat does. Fruitbat that's not even releasing 18+ games to begin with.
Fruitbat just hates 18+ content, they did the same with Eiyuu*Senki when licensed the console version, just to avoid ero. They are equal to Moenovel, just using different buzzwords, instead of French teenage grills target audience, we get the tale couldnt be licensed because ero scene voice overs so expensive, at this point nothing more than damage control.

Pretty dull and generic VN, dropped, I guess there is a reason that the developer is no more.

I agree. They should disregard all their expenses and believe that somehow the VN will sell enough to not bankrupt them.
Well at least they are creative, never heard about the practice of localization companies paying extra for the 18+ side of voice acting, though one can argue this is the good old "We wouldnt have it at all if it wasnt censored" or "They needed a lower age rating to make a profit" mantra.
Hopefully this butchered version will be a failure.

I think that this "localization" stuff is going a little to far, change a joke or two, maybe a couple of proverbs its tolerable, but change the meaning of a big deal of the conversations makes you wonder if you should expend any money on "official translations".
That always gets on my nerves, when the translation has nothing to do with what they are saying, makes me crazy. Waiting on further feedback before purchase in this case then.

There won't be an official 18+ patch, the voice licensing for it seems very difficult.
Seems like an excuse made by the company, I really dislike that they are taking westerners as a fool, selling "nerfed" censored products(reminds me of smartphone market, asian companies ripping of customers in EU, offering less RAM less storage and weaker processor for the same money).

I suppose you have a point. I did play a JVN with a incest route but skipped it. Still, I find the protagonist being perverted a real turn off. Often they are written badly and aren't funny at all. It's quite an annoying trope actually.
Wait the protagonist is a perv?
Damn thats a shame I hate the said trope in vns.
The artstyle is to my liking so will give a try regardless

Certainly seems to worth a try, so many positive review.
Though I only care about Mitoko, dislike old grills in my VNs
-
None that I care about, I so tired west always get the same boring stuff. Mangagamer should hurry up and release Maggot Baits already(its what 3 years wait already?), will buy instantly, I just want more dark guro extreme or NTR stuff coming into west, so have to say VNs nowadays hold very little interest for me, same boring stuff for West over and over again.

Its 5 hscenes in the bloody 'Afterstory' of each heroine i think, I only read 1(Rikka's) so far because i cant be asked . Rikka atleast had some decent development unlike Marika or Sora which was endless SoL, repeating same things a lot of times
This game is a snoozefest

Sounds like romance isnt this vn's strong suit.
Ero scenes pacing also quite bad, you only get them at the very end of the routes "here 3 scenes almost in a row, Enjoy!"
"True routes" especially bad, since there is no romantic buildup, he goes from friendship to love after a particular scenes, which almost same for the all the girls.

Its not bad, dont worry.
Soras route though.. its pretty boring is it not? She hardly says anything.
I dont know, didnt start this yet.
Will only play Sora and Marika's route though , I dont like the rest of the girls design.

Heads up for everyone going into Rikka blind: Her route is long. REALLY LONG.
I clocked it in at 29 hours, the other routes I finished in a third or less than that time.
29 HOUR??? WTF? Just kill me! How much filler was in there? Or worse drawn out melodrama...
-
Even by VN standards there is way too much unnecessary talking in this VN, which is weird because at first seemed so natural(the flows of conversations) but there is only so much talking(without anything happening) one can handle before getting annoyed. Extremely long winded, less could have been more .

yeah but it seems toneworks in particular doesnt handle the transition well enough, not helped by ths fact that heroines dont have individual scenes in the common route.
Anyway minor gripe
Ugh Hatsukoi 1/1 had the same issue...
-
Sorry, we translated only peasants cant have nice things, so that means there is no translated Utsuge....
Also still waiting for NTR titles to be translated
-
Let individual routes be as long as they need to beif one route needs 5 of them for "story purposes" just go ahead and leave the others at 1 or 2...

Its just something truly saddening with nasty looking loliish characters as true heroines. She should have been swapped with natsume.
I dont like the concept of true heroines, feels like other routes waste of time and have to treat them like "what if?" and of course one cant help but disappointed if not fav girl got that status

Please don't take this too personally because it's more general but...
WTF
I really don't understand why some pople discard a VN because it's not uncensored. It's not a nukige. It's not like you are just buying porn so you want to make sure that side it's completely up to your taste. There is only 1 scene for Shinku, 3 for Mio and 2 for each other heroine. Of course (as it usually is) they serve no purpose plot-wise and can just be skipped.
It's completely fine to not wanting to read or buy something, but using that kind of reasoning really pisses me off -.-No offense taken, I am not easily offended.
First I dislike your example, as it could be applied to anything, like suddenly action games you couldnt kill people then I could say "you can still shoot people and its not like you dont get graphics and plot"...
Now the important part is that I want to get the same product like Japanese did, if Its really not big deal why they cut the game?
There is nothing more triggering for me than censorship, as an adult I should have the right to enjoy the same experience like Japanese did, and not a watered down edition version because of cultural imperialism from West.
You misunderstood me, I dont care about mosaics, I care about the eroge part left intact, but thanks for the link will ask.
-
I cant back this, the biggest reason is that there are no guarantee for an uncensored physical release, a disc with Steam on it wont it cut, especially if needed to download external patches just to have my game restored to normal.

Is this one of the VNs which is so bad that is supposed to be good? Absolutely horrible, so boring and stupid I couldnt care about less this VN. MC revealing himself to the first girl like a retard, hit me pretty hard, wasnt funny but downright insulting to reader intelligence.

Absolutely, they really dropped the ball after the common route, still on hold to continue.. The romance has no buildup just so happens, badly done.
