  1. You post made me not feel alone in this and saved me from asking the same questions. This had only the smallest glimmer of shiftpost for me. Today I received an education on these mean Fuwonovel streets, "Be cautious, shitposts are closer than they appear."
  2. Kicking someone out of your room should be the easiest thing to do in life, and one of the most fulfilling. That being said if you need quiet or just want someone out of your room you can say you're gunna get some reading done or just say you want some peace and quiet. It's your room, I mean be as polite as you can be, but at the end of the day clearing people out shouldn't feel too daunting. It may be a little different when it is family. For situations like that, like when I have my girl over, I just snag a headset and let her know I am diving into a VN. She's not particularly into any of them or even most of my weeb stuff, but she respects me enough to not make a racket when I am diving into a VN or even a book. So ultimately my suggestion is to assert your DOMINANCE in your own domain and be willing to compromise at times, or @Kaguya suggestion. Cuz that plan of attack would work to; People hate getting sick.
  3. 2006: I was coming up on my first year working at the movie theater. At this point I had been getting into the more advanced aspects of being a projectionist, and I had fully committed to being a college dropout. When not working I was playing FFXI like a monster or hanging out with my gf of 5yrs. Them NM's weren't gunna hunt themselves. 2007-2009: While I had high hopes in these years there was a 6 year stint in which life basically followed the same flow up till about 2010 when me and the girl I had been dating broke up. So much of this time is pretty much summed up as. Movie Theater, video games, anime, girlfriend, and the occasional tips to Puerto Rico. I did end up in management at the theater so there was some growth and I do look back at this time foundly. It was an time of no responsibilities, and endless possibilities. There was pain on the way after 2009, but I would have to say everything got much more interesting after that. Thanks for the thread this was an interesting exercise.
  4. My favorite protagonist is Yuri Lowell from Tales of Vesperia. I think this has a lot to do with the fact that he is such a fleshed out character. There isn't a ton of growth here; he just finds a path that aligns with his convictions.
  5. I would have to go with A simply because it is more pleasing and easy to take in. Which is Disney all around. My only comment would be that what you choose should fit what you are trying to convey. B made me feel a little guarded at first glance because it was a bit grittier. Which could work better if that emotion helps with the message you are trying to get across.
  6. Thank you all! @littleshogun - Yea Xenogears is my all time favorite RPG, and Citan was by far my favorite character.
  7. Hey All, I have been reading visual novels for a bit and never really knew about this site. I would have continued in my ignorance if not for a post I read by Helvetica Standard, "How to code a VN with Ren'py, Part 1 (Comprehensive Guide)" which lead me to "So you want to create a Visual Novel..." by Diamon. I was mainly doing some digging for a friend who wants to create a VN after I suggested it. I doubt I will be bringing that up anytime soon as it's all pre-production and I was mainly looking to give him a sense of the framework he can use to make his work come alive. The two posts were very well written and had me running around the rest of the site lurking. In this short time, I found a ton of VNs that hadn't been on my radar so joining up seemed like a no brainer. Just to put down a bit about myself. I am a web developer by day and MMO-addict by night. When I am not busy slaying whatever evil is trying to destroy a virtual world you can find my programming or learning something related to programming. I also love reading which is what lead me to VNs! VNs have exposed me to genres outside of my norm of Fantasy and Sci-fi which has in turn affected the types of books I pick up from time to time. To keep this short, as I can ramble about my interests for days, I also enjoy: Fishing Woodworking (Really basic stuff) Anime And most recently Nutrition and Exercise Looking forward to diving more into this community!
