question: whats is the first OP song???

music room says its "straight ship"

vndb says its "straight sheep" (which is marked image song)

ill guess vndb is right because sheperd

EDIT: a youtube search gives me a remiX song and a osu game on sheep while ship gives me no result....

I've seen "Stray sheep" as well. Anyway the kana of the title is ストレイトシープ (Sutoreito shiipu) so people are guessing what it's trying to say I suppose. I'm doubtful シープ would ever be ship though.

One thing that's been bugging me from that Rewrite route I mentioned in my previous post:

      Hide contents

It's pretty clear at the end of the "paranormal" arc that Lucia's been fully aware all along of the fact that she's Asahi Haruka, so why was she surprised by the "don't wake me" message in the printer room early on in the route? She doesn't suffer from amnesia or multiple personality disorder, and there's no need for her to act surprised to fool Kotarou, since he wasn't there at the time.
Was that all just a terrible and completely illogical plot device added to prevent people from thinking that Lucia = Haruka too early?

As far as I'm aware the last thing you mentioned is how it is.

Rewrite has to have been the VN that I've read were it was most obvious that there were different writers for the routes. Their styles varies pretty wildly.

For a vn many haven't heard of and no particular advertising? Certainly not. The campaign results speaks for themselves.

I was kinda suprised that there were so many people that hadn't heard of Irosekai considering how hyped I thought it was, but then I kind of realised that was like 6 years ago or something. I suppose it kinda has fallen of the radar at this point, unfortunately.

Oh My God, that Yoshino music video in Rewrite might be the single greatest moment in a VN so far for me.
Does anyone have a translation for the lyrics? I'm worried I might stumble over some spoiler if I try to Google it myself.

Here's a subbed video, only thing you might have to look out for would be related videos I guess.

    Spoiler

    1. After watching anime and reading VN's for a few years I ended up with a light grasp of spoken Japanese. Due to that, whenever I wasn't preoccupied I would end up puzziling grammar together in my head and such. So I decided to make a serious effort to learn.

    2. If you don't count when I was just learing through exposure, then probably like a month or so.

    3. The first one would have been Hoshimemo, I read a bit of it to test how well I would do. That was back when the fanTL came out around 2012.
Since I hadn't learned much kanji then I had to look up almost every word, which was pretty damn tedious. There were also a few places where I just couldn't understad the sentences as a whole.

    4. I use ITH and an empty html page with a textbox + Rikaichamp and I really shouldn't because:

More often than not I'd end up trying to read the furigana over the kanji compounds in the text hooker before I even looked at the kanji, even if it was a word I knew.

As for 2019, personally I'm just hope that they didn't do any announcements for this year, and no I'm not drunk when I wrote this (I'm about to sleep though lol). The reason is that with many announcements I afraid that Nekonyan may not be able to doing well, so hopefully they can fully concentrate on their work at the announced title. Then again, if they want to announce something then it's up to them.

That seems unlikely though, considering if they don't announce anything for the entirety of 2019 (and nothing is delayed to next year) they would end up with maybe only Melty Moment left.

I've been waiting for Mahoyo for like 3 years. If it comes to it, I'll jump onto translating Mahoyo only as a script using rudimentary Japanese knowledge and online dictionaries just so I can get the lore finally; then just release what I've got as a draft so someone else can handle the rest if they want.

I really don't understand why people like Mcjon or Herkz from Commiesubs don't just release the script so we have a basis for others to start from if they want to do a full game translation. It's not like they're gaining anything by keeping the draft to themselves.

The stuff Mcjon has translated are avaible as a partial patch, so it's not like he's "keeping it to himself".

Checked NekoNyan's website, she is a first year at the same academy the MC is in, therefore high school.

    http://hgb.nekonyansoft.com/

So to clarify, she is not in middle school.

The vndb description is claimed to be sourced from Nekonyans site but that particular part differs, so I guess Nekonyan might have made a mistake in the description initially and fixed it, but vndb ended up with the unfixed version or something.

The vndb page for the game has a very conflicting status for the "loli in question".

    https://vndb.org/v5316/chars#chars

It lists Koharu, "loli in question", as a kid in the body type but as being in High School. Whoever said something about her being a middle schooler could you please post your source? As the database says otherwise, her being in high school would offset some of the conflict.

The description does have the line "a student in Tenshudo's middle school department", but she is indeed tagged as a high schooler so it's kinda inconsistent.

Yes because it makes sense business wise. If certain countries only bring you loss why sell to them? Fraud purchases are actually very expensive.

It does suck for sure. Mangagamer did have that time when they got screwed over majorly and lost their payment processor due to one person pretty much. If I'm not remembering wrong.

Prose is the most overrated thing among the 'elite' VN readers

How the hell is slightly changing the way you write words about a story going to overall change how the story/characters actually play out? Some details are different but its the same thing

Hmmm. Well how about you imagine a movie that you liked, but all camera work is replaced by a static 45 degree downards facing camera 3 meters above each scene, for the entire movie.
Nothing about the story or characters would have changed, it would still play out the same. Would your enjoyment be the same? Would that emotional scene still have the same impact if it's kinda hard to make out the characters expressions and body language because of the awkward angle? Would that blood pumping action scene be the same with you stuck up in the corner?

The prose of a piece of writing serves a similiar purpose to what camerawork does for a movie, it's about the framing of the story and characters. It can make the mundane gripping for a moment. The fantastical, dry and boring.
Compared to books, visual novels have a bit of a crutch for poor writing in the form of BGM, voice acting and well, visuals, the writing however still holds significant power, even should you not notice it.

Talk about phoning it in. I can't decide if this was worse than Magical Marriage Lunatics or not, but it's at least the same level of low-effort mediocrity. Constant bad translationisms, frequent absolute nonsense, shitty English, the works.

Don't know why MG keeps doing shoddy work on relatively big-name titles like this one. Oh well, at least Evenicle and Sorcery Jokers got good TLs, among MG releases I played this year. I just wish they'd focus more on consistent quality for titles like this, especially since this one happened to be so firmly up my alley.

I was suprised I didn't see anyone mention this until now, considering how people go off on comparatively smaller issues with some of Sekai's TLs.

The TL for Hapymaher and Magical Marriage Lunatics aren't unreadable, but they read poorly enough that it had a negative impact on my enjoyment at least.
I also saw some TL errors in Hapymaher pretty much making someone say the opposite thing, "reappear" becomes "disappear", "unsuprising" becomes "suprising", "had me guide" becomes "I was guided".
Those are probably noticable even if you don't know japanese, since they contradict the surrounding conversation and/or context. So it's a bit suprising they made it through QC and such.

Overall I also quite liked Hapymaher though, and my opinions on it are pretty similar to yours.
