  1. I'm relatively new to the series started with Awakening and played Conquest as well. Frederick really stuck with me as a character. Enjoyed how absurdly broken he was early game. His interactions with Chrom were hilarious and the fan comics that were made with him were great as well. As for waifu material, I go for either Cordelia or Anna. Anna's lack of dialogue with other characters is a real shame though. For difficulty I prefer classic, lunatic. A bit too challenging, but hard felt a bit too easy for me, especially later in the game. I usually stick with defense boon, with a flaw of skill. Prefer characters that can clog up passageways and take minimal damage. I'm a big fan of the gameplay and the dialogue events of the series. Watching the fights are entertaining, hoping my evasion works out in critical moments and those 3% enemy criticals never land. Conquest improved many aspects of it as well as making some nice additions like ninjas. I think Gaius was the first character I got killed, and I'm pretty sure it was at my hand as well. Didn't know you were supposed to talk to him and I wiped him out instead. When I heard the music change when he died I figured I done something wrong. My main gripe with the series is probably the story elements. Awakening was pretty lacking, but it still had its moments. It's character's were pretty one dimensional, but they were still fun and likable. Conquest had downright terrible writing with how dumb the characters were acting in the story. It's character's were less memorable as well, and I put the game down just before completing it due to these flaws. As for new Fire Emblem games, I'm pretty much just going to wait and see what happens. I may pick up any new games if they interest me when they come out. For similar games I would look into the Advance wars games, Yggdra Union, Xcom, and the Disgaea series.
  2. Bought the bundle myself a few days ago and have a few extra keys from titles I either played already or have no interest in. 3. I still have games from way back in the NES period. Pretty happy I never got rid of any or sold them off. Always nice to hook up the older systems once in a while and play some games on them. As for visual novels I have a fairly small, but growing collection of them over the years. Think my best pickup though was one of G-sen back around 5 or 6 years ago at a convention. One of the attendants of a panel just busted out this large container of visual novels after it was over. Managed to snag a new copy of the game for around $70 and it came with a nice large sketchbook for Sharin no Kuni with it as well.
  4. I read the original VN quite some time ago and was pretty fond of it. The gameplay wasn't very deep, but the story segments were well done. I personally wasn't expecting this to ever be translated so I watched the anime. I got through around 16-17 episodes and it was very underwhelming. Pretty much nothing happens, and there wasn't any strong comedy or anything to really back it up either. My question whether or not I should give this a shot. I'm sure the anime wasn't well adapted, but will I be expecting something similar here or a much better experience? I also have no problem with slow paced series, so I don't believe that is the issue here.
  5. It's been a while since I played a tales game. Xillia was my last one and I didn't really care for it. The characters never really impressed me and the English voice acting ranged from acceptable to absolute garbage. While I haven't done a ton of research on Berseria, I'm interested in picking it up and seeing how it is. The only real problem is the massive amount of games that have either just come out or are coming out this month that I'm interested in. Going to be hard pressed to find the time to play.
  6. Finally managed to finish Rance VI today. Pretty solid game, and probably has the best story building out of all the Rance games I've played so far. The gameplay got a bit tedious after a while though. It felt as your characters didn't really grow any stronger as the game progressed. Sure you get better stats, but the variety of skills you could use was fairly limited and while boss fights were still fairly engaging the random encounters were not. Defensive stats are a bit wonky too since I believe the total defense/resistance measured as percent reduction overall. So once I got Rocky around 80ish defense and a defense boost up even the heaviest of hitters were doing 0 to him, which pretty much broke the game. Overall I still enjoyed the game and I'm glad I picked it up. I would still say Sengoku Rance still tops it overall though due to it's more engaging and fun characters and it's better overall gameplay.
  7. So as for the orb grinding there is an easy way to get past that. I didn't realize the coupon store sells those orbs, and they are really cheap as well with crab/monkey costing 1 and eagle at 2. I was sitting on like 50 of them when I realized this, so getting those events done is much easier then I thought. The random encounters don't bother me too much, though I do wish there was an item or trait you could equip or use to lower the encounter rate.
  8. As far as I'm aware there hasn't been anything too ridiculous so far. Quite a few of the harder battles so far have either timed out for me or you were supposed to lose to them in the first place. I did run into one fight against two bosses you fight at once and got a game over there. Their AoE skills demolished my party so I'm not sure if I wasn't supposed to fight them or if I did something else wrong. As for other battles you can run from almost all of them using the tactical retreat option. It's 100% guaranteed to work as well, the downside is only a few characters have or can learn the skill itself. You can also escape from dungeons at any point in time using the return bonsai, which is free and also never runs out. I think the game is fairly lenient for the most part.
  9. As far as Kichikuou goes it was just a spinoff series that wasn't supposed to be part of the main story. It still contains a vast amount of characters from the series and is a pretty good game in it's own right. It is pretty comparable game to Sengoku Rance. For Rance VI I think I'm around halfway through at this point if the progress bar is a fair means of measurement and I like where it is going. The game is showcasing it's theme quite well, while also developing some of the side characters a bit as well. It also feels like your raising your own brigade of troops rather then just a single set party with the way the stamina system works and your growing roster of characters. One minor annoyance I'm having with it though is the orb system in some degree. While I'm fine with some events being locked under them I always have the need to grind an old map just to get them for the next mission. I do plan on giving 5D a shot when I finish this up though. Seems like an entertaining game in it's own right.
  10. I personally skipped over 5D for the time being because I was more interested in playing VI. Enjoying it quite a bit so far. Enjoying the story, the dungeon crawling is fun, and the character interactions with Rance and the others are great. The interactions with Rance and Daniel have to be my favorite so far since Daniel is so blunt and rude towards him regardless of what Rance does. On side note during the scene when Rance and Urza are looking into the magazines of the top 8 Zeth idols I noticed that a few of them had their ages blacked out. I'm curious if that was there because of the 18+ caption at the title screen or was always a thing. It didn't really bother me, in fact I thought it was pretty amusing.
